  1. Booked in at Katleybarn - it sounds great, only 8 dogs at a time and the owners sound very interested in giving my dog as stress free a stay as possible. Thanks so much for the tip!
  2. Hi All, Well, it seems I've left it too late to get anything in Brisbane over Christmas, so was thinking about trying further out - somewhere that will be along the way for my trip down south. I've found a few kennels in both Coffs and Toowoomba online, but having trouble finding reviews. Can anyone recommend a kennel at either location, or in the general vicinity? Thanks in advance
  3. I'm feeding my pup (11 week old Rottie) with a combination of BARF patties, chicken necks and wings and beef bones. She's getting smaller meals a day, as with 3 her stomach would be empty by about 5AM and she'd start retching and throw up stomach juices. I'm by no means and expert, but the BARF diet seems simple enough to follow - my biggest problem is making sure I don't overfeed my girl. She's only getting about 6-8% of bodyweight per day, but looks to be in great condition. I was cautioned by the vet to keep her lean and make sure she didn't grow "too fast" to avoid skeletal problems. Bit hard knowing what too fast is, but keeping her a bit hungry seems to do the trick.
  4. Correct me if I'm wrong (still new to all of this), but wouldn't be training in play drive actually be training in prey drive in this circumstance? I was under the impression dogs chase balls because of their instinct to pursue prey, rather than just to play. I know it's a game for them so they are playing, but the unconditioned response you may reinforcing could be the dogs prey drive by rewarding her with a ball. Don't know if that's part of the problem or not, but something worth considering.
