  9. Particularly me and my kids - OMG what a cute little bundle of adorable she is!!! Could easily have slipped her into my handbag today. It was great to see you again Pulilover but a little sad that I only remembered why I knew you when I saw your dogs . I'm sure next time I will be MUCH better. Had a great weekend back in the show ring for the first time in a few months - Xkaliba Cecilla (Daphne) did well winning Best of Breed both days - it was great to have competition on Saturday. Big thanks to Katherine Wishart in Melbourne who with the help of her son Lachlan and his show-training classes has taught her how to show . It was nice to get a compliment today that my girl was very well trained - wish I could claim that it was all my hard work but I did 'fess up and say that someone else was responsible. No sweat Trisven. I wouldn't remember me either Congratulations on your wins and to everyone. Overall a successful weekend.
  10. We had a great weekend with my bitch Molly 'Ch Rastaz In Your Dreams'' going Runner Up BIG today and then Aus Bred In Show. My young bitch Rastaz Oz Dream To Castlewolf' went Minor Puppy In Group yesterday I have never seen so many greyhounds at a show before. Maybe I just noticed more because I was sitting right next to you! You looked very nice in the group lineup :D
  11. See you there with my two hairy mops. I don't think it will be muddy. It hasn't rained for a few weeks. :D
  12. Correction to Puli results: Open Dog 2nd place: CH Magyarpuli Galaxy Boy (AI) owner Mrs E Oglesby
  13. I have had 5 frozen AI's done on 3 different bitches, using 3 different vets. 1st litter - 5 puppies 2nd litter - 4 puppies 3rd litter - 6 puppies 4th litter - 6 puppies 5th litter - 0 puppies My breed average litter size is around 4-5 so I think overall litter size is slightly higher. All semen was collected and frozen using Camelot method (pellets). With such a small gene pool it is more convenient for me to use frozen semen and I am happy with the results. I store my own semen so no problem with it getting ruined or mixed up with someone else's. Hope this helps and good luck
  14. I agree with all the others it was a fantastic day. Great grounds, although the hike to the toilet was slightly longer than anticipated - trips to the toilet had to be carefully planned I managed to hold on through the group specials I met Trisven13 AKA Trish for the first time. You are just gorgeous Trish and congrats on your Class in Group win I hope I can make it again next year.
  15. Can someone tell me who judged Group 5 on sunday?
  16. Just saw this thread. I am not into ferrets myself but I am totally into getting rid of bunnies on our property. We have heaps of rabbit warrens. Anyone that wants to come ferreting at my place, feel free to contact me, you are more than welcome.
  17. Does anyone have any results from Ardlethan Show today?
  18. I don't bargain with people. Sometimes people are genuinely shocked because they really didn't expect it, but a lot of them are just trying to haggle. I can usually tell the difference. If someone is genuinely shocked I briefly go through a few facts with them but not in too much depth as I don't think it's worth it. If someone is trying to haggle because they are cheapskates (sp?) I just tell them politely that the price is not open to negotiation. They often ring back the following week and the pup is sold and they regret it because they missed out. My pet peeve is when people state that 'it is your business....you can charge what you want' I get a bit fired up about this as I am not a business I am a lifelong passion for the breed. This part of it I would like to educate the general public on. I don't know if any of it would sink in though. They don't get the bit where if you can't place a dog you are willing to keep it for the rest of it's life, and the part where if a dog does not work out, unless you can find a suitable new home for them you are willing to keep the dog for the rest of its life. They don't get the part where you just spent $10,000 importing a new line because it is the best you could find for your line and breed. It is more a mentality than a shortage of money to pay for the pup. A long time ago I had a kid on the phone asking me 'is that your bottom price?' .... I could hear the parents prompting in the background. This was a very popular breed with no trouble selling puppies. I found out he was calling from Watsons Bay in Sydney, I mean come on this is just ignorant people who haggle over everything be it a pedigree dog or a television. I prefer not to sell to people like this anyway as they tend to view the dog as a 'product' or 'consumer item' rather than a live being with feelings.
  19. Looking forward to seeing 33 Bearded Collies, or is that a typo?
  20. Skyegirl, I will be having a bit of a chat with you if you have a spare moment
  21. Thought this might be useful for anyone considering buying puppy scales. I ordered these scales for our kitchen a few weeks ago. I just realised they will make perfect puppy scales Here is the link: http://www.dealsdirect.com.au/p/electronic-kitchen-scales-calculator/ If you have a large breed you might have to put a larger container on the plate and tare it as it is not massive, but certainly perfect for medium sized newborns. Good value I thought too.
  22. I don't like the idea of independent reviews. There is too much scope for breeders posing as someone else and slagging other breeders. The best solution to the problem is for the buyer to go and personally visit the breeder, view health tests, pedigrees, the dogs. I cannot tell you how many puppy buyers within a small driving distance never wanted to view puppies, parents, papers or meet the breeder when I was living in Sydney. This shocked me as when I spend X amount of money on anything I would want to see what I am getting and research it thoroughly. Compared to many other websites that sell puppies DOL is one of few that require ANKC breeders prefix as a minimum standard. The rest is up to the buyer.
