  1. Labsrule your pack are gorgeous im glad someone has given some proper input on labradors i know with my girl i might say she won`t hurt anyone but i don`t really know she is very protective of me and the house and have had 2 times when she has been in the car and a person walking passed has said what a nice looking lab and she has gone off she is really funny she picks people there has been a few times when ive been walking her with my girls to there school and there is a single dad who is really nice he put his hand out the other day to pat her and she went off and he has never done anything to her this has happend a few times but with different ppl it`s like she is a good judge of charactor she doesn`t launch to bite or anything just barks and warns them. she si my first lab i have owned and i love her to bits and as you can see am getting another one i have a choice of black or chocolate pups, ive just rehomed a really nice 2yr black lab male he was beautiful i rescued him from the pound and was going to keep him but a friend of mine who has a disable son asked me could she adopted him since he took to her son really well nice nature couldn`t find anything wrong with him all he wanted is some love and a permanent home and now he has it, i have at the moment a 9 week old black lab x another rescue from the pound so cute but am looking for a good home for him before i get my new lab pup who isn`t born yet but won`t be long. aussielover - thats how my girl started and i don`t discourage her from barking either when people enter the property as i want her to let me know when someone is around Jaxx`sbuddy - very true i agree with what you have said but even if you have both good temperaments things still can go wrong
  2. ok so really what sex gets on better desexed females with females or none desexed ones or desexed males together or none or both ive always had desexed female entire male and they where fine ?
  3. i hope my lab girl doesn`t get like that she is really good with other dogs the only thing ive seen with her is when she tries to but a friends bullmastiff in place very funny but i always keep a eye on her they rear up like horses but when he is facing her she gives him kisses i hope you rotti x pitti is ok i don`t think i will be gettin another female i,ll get a male that way there shouldn`t be any fighting, least you are doing the right thing and keeping them seperated i know alot of dog owners who have had that trouble and always get ride of the one who is causing the prob
  4. my girl use to be like that but since having to put my staffy down she has changed heaps and now barks at anyone walking past and go`s off if anyone comes to the door but i know she wouldn`t hurt anyone
  5. thanks aussielover & rubition for you input i wouldn`t want any harm to come to my girl just want to feel safe and i wouldn`t want my girl to harm anyone either
  6. here we go i wasn`t having a go at german shepherds or rottweilers but they are used alot for professionally trained guard dogs sorry if you have taken offence to my comment i have nothing against the breed as my dad use to breed and train german sheperds we have a lot come to training and are very nice dogs
  7. my lab has full run of my house & car she comes every where with me & my girls & sleeps on my bed every night and im just about to get another one am hoping the hubby will put a bed in his shed so i can both labs on there
  8. thank you persephone will have a read, yes ive been told to go the opposite sex thanks scarlet i prob will go a male but will be desexing him, my neighbours are cool as as they all have dogs but they only bark when someone is around and thats what my girl does she lets us know
  9. my lab wouldn`t hurt a fly i wouldn`t have her if she did as i use her at training but i do like how she lets me know when someone is around and will bark at someone at my door and has barked at peole once in my house but settles when i tell her it`s ok, i don`t want a full on guard dog that would rip your arm off other wise i would have a german shepherd or rottweiler i will edit my question as i shouldn`t have used guard but i have seen labrodors that are guard dogs and wouldn`t let you a inch near or on there territory i was only wondering in some breeds females are more likely to bark them males and vice versor
  10. hello i was wondering and wanting to know form all Labrador owners or anyone who has owned a lab which sex do they thinks is the better protector ( letting you know when someone is around or even stop someone from breaking in ) i have a female desexed lab and she is a great protector day & night but i have just had a 2yr black male who i was fostering and he would only bark at night not during the day, so i am buying another lab and have decided on a chocolate one but would like to hear other peoples opions on this and if chocolate ones have any problems different from the golden ones sorry if it sounds silly but i have always owned Staffordshire bull terriers and since losing my 3yr boy to a brain tumor in October this year have decided to not get another staffy but another lab thank you
  11. october this year i had to put to sleep my Companion,my soul mate,my giver of UNCONDITIONAL LOVE, my gorgeous 3yr staffy brock he was my everything but he had got a brain tumor and was suffering so i did what was right and relieve him of his pain and now he is free one of the hardest things ive ever had to do so young and full of life he was my best friend and I'm missing him so much but i know he is happy and he will always be with me..
