  1. Banjo my 11month old Cattle dog has started to bark lately up at the back fence. People have suggested a few things to me but I'm not sure which may be triggering it? He gets walked twice a day (1hour walk in morning and afternoon) and is played with all day when possible. He has my mums dog with him and various toys when I have to leave for school, study etc. From what I can tell it seems to be an aggressive bark though sometimes it just seems he is barking for the sake of hearing his own voice. Whenever I see him barking I can't see anything that would be making him bark, though the side neighbours say they have seen the back doors neighbours cats in our tree and there kids jumping up on the trees/fence. The back door neighbours have said if he doesn't stop barking they will complain but I've tried everything possible that I can think of and the vets in my area say he is bored and needs more exercise so I have tried walking him 3 times per day and trying to play with him more but nothing still works, 10minutes after I leave him after a long walk or just tuckering him out he will go up and bark non stop. So could anyone please give me some advice on what to do? Is it his testosterone coming into play with this? Dave
  2. I was doing what my puppy pre school was telling me to do. Firm NO and hold him by the scruff of the neck (not hard) and it has seemed to work, I did it twice and he hasn't growled since and is starting to not bite as much unless he tries to get my attention but he is learning not to do that now as well
  3. He is a sitting machine! He will come up and sit the breeder had taught him that, he sits and waits for his food etc so i suppose when i think of it it was a silly question cause he mainly only does it after or when he is playing and he does bark (play bark) and mouths but it isnt out of aggression i don't think cause he will bark and jump around and bite and jump around etc. But other then mouthing/this growling he is perfect except he has dug one hole but its out the backyard right in the corner and he only digs there so it isn't a problem.
  4. My cattle dog pup Banjo has started to get aggressive this past week when he is doing something wrong and we try to discipline him and other things (eg if he is going somewhere we don't want him and try to pick him up or guide him in another direction he will growl and jump around) He is 12 weeks thursday and he has started puppy preschool. We will be discussing with them tonight when we go about what we should do but what else should we be doing?

  10. Hello, Has anyone done the basic obedience and agility training here? And what did they think of it? I am thinking about taking my puppy too it when he is ready. Cheers,
  11. The problem is that I do try and teach the spoilt dog the rules but then when I'm gone if he does the same action to my mum she doesn't discipline him so even though I'm building repetitions up when mums with him it goes back to square one. He dominates mum, but he doesn't dominate me. Edit : Sorry posted when you did Corvus, that's exactly what I mean. Mum's on a different page.
  12. Sorry I should of explained, He is living with me and is MY dog but he will be living with me but will also be around the spoilt dog.
  13. Hello, I know there are other threads that I've read but I have a few questions, I am getting a ACD puppy in 3-5weeks (when he is ready) and will be living with my Mothers Jack Russell X Foxy, He isn't to bad with dogs (Not aggressive etc) but because my mum has babied him as a puppy he doesn't have as good manners that I want him too. So I'm wondering even with my dog getting obedience trained etc will He get bad habits from my mums dog? (EG - Jumping up on furniture and strangers) Dave
