  2. http://news.ninemsn.com.au/world/8201979/a...hewing-on-bible A South Carolina woman has been charged with animal cruelty after she hung and burned her nephew's dog because it chewed on her bible. Miriam Fowler Smith, 65, told police that God urged her to kill one-year-old pit bull Diamond because it was a "devil dog" that was bound to hurt children in the neighbourhood. Smith's nephew had left the dog at the home he shared with his aunt on January 9 while he went away. When he returned on January 15, he could find no trace of the dog. When he confronted his aunt, she admitted to killing the animal. Smith later confessed to police that she wrapped an extension cord around Diamond's neck, hung the animal from a tree and then set her on fire using kerosene. Police found the dog under a pile of grass with part of the cord still wrapped around the dog's neck, authorities said. Smith could face up to five years in jail if she is convicted of animal cruelty. WORDS CANNOT EXPRESS THE DISGUST AND ANGER I FEEL ABOUT THIS STORY - RIP BEAUTIFUL DIAMOND. :) :D :D ;)
  3. It's pronounced Cohburn Dru Thank god for that! The first time I ever saw the word cockburn in a street directory I said it just like that and my dad goes "no darling thats what your boyfriend gets" The comments on this story on the actual news article make me so ashamed to live here with them, god some people have no idea, especially the bit about "oh these breeds and pitbulls should all be banned" no idiot its close minded ***ks like you who should be banned and obviously dont know the first thing about dogs or being a human
  4. Some of the comments underneath this story on PerthNow make me ashamed I have to share a city with them. A YOUNG boy has sustained serious facial injuries after being attacked by a dog at a Spearwood shopping centre. The boy, believed to be aged about 12, was mauled by the Bullmastiff, which was tied up outside the Phoenix Park shopping centre at 2.30pm. Police were called to the scene before City of Cockburn rangers moved in and seized the animal. The dog has been relinquished by its owner to council rangers and will be put down tomorrow. Rangers are now putting a case together against the pet owner. A council spokeswoman confirmed the young boy received a single bite to one of his lower cheeks. She also said the dog was tied up at the shopping centre and the boy had either walked past or approached the animal. The boy has been rushed to Princess Margaret Hospital where he remains in a stable condition. Link: http://www.perthnow.com.au/news/western-au...u-1225991312741
  5. Ungrateful piece of **** That poor dog deserves someone who actually cares about it wellbeing.
  6. Thanks again for the advice, Rehoming either of them isnt an option, I will do more to try and curb Tug's bully like behaviour. As I said I cant afford a behaviour expert, I am unemployed due to mental health issues. It is sad to see Leroy get bullied and Tug is going to be brought down a peg a or two. I have just had enough and so far tonight they have been good
  7. Thank you for the advice everyone - This behaviour with them happens a fair bit. But it is not all the time. we never give them food or treats to eat when we are not around because they will fight over them. They will occasionally play with each other and they will sometimes both play with the cat at the same time - one at each end Its not all bad but yeah this behaviour is bull***t, when they do fight, it has never been long enough to cause serious injuries, they have never drawn blood (thank god) They used to fight ALOT more before they were desexed, I wasn't around though but this is what I have been told by my partner.
  8. Hi guys, Im wondering if anyone can help us please. Heres the background on our problem. My partner and her sister got 2 dogs about 9 years ago, 2 chihuahua cross's. These dogs have lived together almost there entire life. probably spent roughly 1 year apart when they were young, they are both desexed males and were desexed around 2004. Dog 1 (Tug) is very pushy, possessive and dominant over Dog 2 (Leroy). Dog 2 is very submissive and skittish (im assuming because of Dog 1's behaviour towards him) When I moved in with my partner Dog 1 became very attached to me and has been for the past 3 years. I cant pat Dog 2 (leroy) without dog 1 getting jealous and attacking Dog 2. When he does this we remove Dog 1 from the situation for 5 mins or so. (in a separate room) If we are on the lounge and the dogs are both up there with us, you scream or make a loud noise Dog 1 one will attack dog 2. If we pick up dog 2 for a cuddle, before picking up dog 1, dog 2 will hop down because he is scared. Dog 2 tries to play with the cat and Dog 1 will come and push in and dog 2 goes and hides. This behaviour has been going on for far too long and we have had enough, I feel as though dog 2 has suppressed part of his personality or whatever because he is too scared. Dog 1 is also food aggressive and will push dog 2 out the way to eat his food. I hope I haven't made it too confusing i used the dog 1 dog 2 scenario in the hopes its easier to understand, I realize this behaviour should have been corrected a long time ago but Im asking for help now. I want these guys to live out the rest of there lives in harmony. Please can anyone offer any advice??? And just to clarify I cannot afford to see a behaviour expert at this time. Please we are desperate.
  9. Thanks guys!! I love photography, I have so much to learn and am just trying to experiment with everything, I read a book the other night from professional photographer Rick Sammon, its called Confessions of a Compact Camera Shooter. He has some great tips in there. Such as: Dead centre is deadly. If you think you are close enough - get closer If you think you have enough photos - take more, you never know. There was lots more, it was a great little read. I also have been experimenting with Photoshop Elements. Next time I go for a little photo trip, I will post some more
  10. http://www.thechronicle.com.au/story/2010/...irst-toowoomba/ Puppy love: man marries a real dog A YOUNG Toowoomba man yesterday tied the knot with his best friend – a five-year-old labrador. In perhaps a first for the Garden City, Laurel Bank Park hosted the wedding of Joseph Guiso and Honey, a labrador he adopted five years ago. Thirty of the couple’s closest friends and family were in attendance for the emotional ceremony, held at dusk. "You’re my best friend and you make every part of my day better," Mr Guiso’s vows read. The couple decided on the location – and to tie the knot - after stumbling upon a wedding in Laurel Bank Park during an afternoon walk. "I said that could be us," Mr Guiso said. "She didn’t say anything so I took that as a yes." Mr Guiso said as a "religious guy", he could no longer take the guilt of living with Honey out of wedlock. "It’s not sexual," he assured the onlookers. "It’s just pure love." The couple is planning a short honeymoon to one of Toowoomba’s parks. A bit OT - but because I am in a same sex relationship, I cant get married and he can???
  11. Bushwalk...I didnt go down there though, Im terrified of snakes, well venomous ones anyway
  12. Hi, I am very amateur at photography and eventually will get a DSLR but for now I just have a point and shoot, I was wondering if you guys could take a look at my photos and let me know what you think thankyou
  13. I cant bring myself to even watch it...sicko's..... Yeah I havent watched it either and I wont, I know it will just make me cry :D
  14. This makes me ashamed to be human, how the hell could anyone do that for ANY amount of money. Or for just enjoyment
  15. A guy at work the other day said - "my dog must be ridgeback cross cuz his hair stands up on his back when he gets arked up ey" OMG A bit off topic but wow, Is his serious??
  16. I loved this story!!! such devotion and as long as the cat is now well and not suffering then why not?? It would never happen to me though because I would never be able to come up with $25k. Its nice to see a good animal story in the news for a change, i wish there was more like these instead the sick fools who bloody hurt animals for kicks
  17. I am crying happy tears for him. when he wagged his tail...awwwwwwwwww ;)
  18. thanks pers. Im so glad its nothing life threatening, my worst fears were cancer or something really bad.
  19. Wahoo, Tug has been to the vet and it is Lipoma, just a small benign fatty cyst. Nothing too serious, just need to keep an eye on it and if it gets bigger will need to be removed, the vet mentioned that it could end up dragging on the ground Who the hell would let it get that big?? You cant even really see it at this stage and I tell you there is NO WAY in hell it would get that big before having something done. Anyways all is well and the vet said that it moves around so it must have been in an uncomfortable spot but he is fine to touch today. Will be keeping a close eye on it though.
  20. Thanks for the info guys, he is ok, acting completely normal unless you try to touch the base of his penis, while its "away" so to speak, the swelling isnt that obvious. He will be going to vet tomorrow. It could be nothing but it also could be something so he will definitely be going tomorrow morning. He lives with us, his mum (SIL) has recently built a house with her OH and my partner and my SIL have an agreement that she still has responsibility for him, the only reason he doesn't live with her is because the dog (Tug) we also have his brother Leroy and they don't want them to be separated. So anyway he will be going tomorrow, he has been toileting fine. persephone - thankyou for the link, i read that one today. He has a few dominance issues, hes very pushy with our other dog and they have fought alot over treats etc. Something that has gone on there whole lives, Ive only been with the dogs the last 2 years. He can be growly towards the other dog but the cat is a different story he never has ever growled at the cat before, they are very good with each other and play all the time. I am aware that any of this aggressive behaviour is unacceptable but im not sure how to stop it. Kirislin - he doesn't have an erection, everything is where it should be. it just appears to be slightly swollen at the base. I used our other dog for comparison.
  21. Hi, We have a 8 year old sterilized Chi X JRT, he was de sexed at around 3 years old. He has been behaving abnormally aggressive lately, hes a bit dominant to our other dog and they occasionally have a fight or two, but now he's been growling at the cat when they have been playing. So I put the dog up on the bed in search of a sore spot to see if that's the cause of the behaviour. Now at the base of penis I know there are some glands there. (well so i have read) and i just gave it a very very gentle touch and he growled at me and snapped his head around, I gave this an attempt a few times and it must be sore as he will not let me near it. The dog is my SIL's so we are going to arrange for him to go to the vet. In the meantime has anyone had this problem before? I hope I have explained myself correctly. As far as i know he hasn't had any trouble weeing, but i let him outside before I went out there so i haven't seen him go today. Can anyone help??
  22. I just got a FB page update that the dog has been returned I dont know if the people who returned the dog asked for the money. I would hope not. Just to see the look on that mans face when he got his dog back would have been the biggest reward ever!!!
