  1. One more quick question which is probably common knowledge but I have been given mixed answers... Does she still need to be fed twice a day (my vet told me hyskys continue to grow until they're 18mths so they still need to be fed like a puppy) or is once a day enough? if so does it matter what time of the day they're fed? I like to feed her in the afternoon/ early evening so she has enough time to go to the toilet before she comes inside to sleep.
  2. I was just feeding her chicken frames etc but I was told she needed other nutrients/ vegetables that the raw food didn't have.. I'll give your adice a go and look into a raw diet as well
  3. My 12 month old Siberian Husky (the very one who loves eating possum) Isn't eating much, I've tried a variety of things; different dry kibble from cheap to expensive (science diet, purina, home brand, pal etc), canned stuff on it's own and mixed in, pasta and veges, the complete pet food company patties, the different fancy stuff in the supermarkets, liver and lamb hearts, I've tried mixing a vairty of things together and putting eggs in.. She will pick at some stuff but just leave it there, if i put dry food out she will eat it after 2 or 3 days but I'm worried about her not eating for days, although I have been told siberian huskys tend to regulate their food intake. Her eating is very minimal and in the last few weeks I think (but i could be imagining) she looks slimmer and she is sleeping alot more but she does still have energy to jump and run around! She will eat things like chicken frames and raw meat or anything that I have on my plate but I'm wondering what advice people have so I can get her onto a regular and consistant diet... She looks health and her coat is still shiny, thick and soft! Another thing is we have just moved house is it possible she could be feeling unsettled/ anxious?? I could just be one of those pet owners who thinks dogs have the same emotional issues as us LOL
  4. The breeder I got my dog from is also a boarding kennel and the ladies who manage it are really lovely, Peaches doesn't like many people but ran straaight to them when I dropped her off there for the wknd it's called champagne park it's out at park ridge
  5. And by the looks of it she needs surgery on her knee.. which is something absurd like $2000 - $3000 per leg (fingers crossed its only one)!!! i do from time to time in the heat of rage threaten her she is going to RSPCA when she has destroyed something expensive or someone elses things LOL aahhh the joys of having four leggedd buddys makes me not want kids in the future LOL
  6. I am definetly not impressed by her killing another animal but that is how they survive in the wild and I am very glad it wasn't someones cat!! I have just moved house and unfortunatly our new yard while it is lovely and big for her to enjoy it is full of trees = possums!! And like Zero she will sit at the trees and whinge and go crazy! She is just a little bit excited in her new surroundings so we have some bumps to smooth out, there are dogs on every side of us, we have only been here a week and so far; She chewed her way through her lead while i wasn't looking and ran away ($45 new special non chewable lead) Got bitten by something and her head swelled to the size of a football and looked like scooby doo ($100 vet bill) Eaten a possum ($40 worming.. on + side i didn't have to feed her) she got through our supposed husky proof fence we reinforced with stakes and chicken wire ($100), and tore up the neighbours yard ( approx $200) it has been a stressfull and expensive week LOL BUT I love her to death and all the snuggles make up for the pain in the ass moments!!!
  7. Seriously i can bring her over to anyone who would like to erradicate unwanted possums LOL I've never seen her so satisfied!
  8. She definetly was satisfied and very proud of herself for the whole day licking her chops!!!! hehehehe She seems fine now just very full she isn't even trying to get at any of our food like she usually does! The only problem now is there are more up on the power lines in the yard and she is obsessed, can you get someone to come and take them to a new tree or do we just wait until she gets them all which i am sure will happen cos possums don't seem too smart esoecially when this one ran along the gound!!
  9. hehehe thak you for your help Miss Peaches defintely enjoys both the killing and the eating, all that was left was paches of fur on the grass!! I just hope any other possums lurking in my yard decide to move on!!!
  10. My 12 month old Siberian Husky Peaches caught a possum the night before last (thursday) and I believe she ate the whole thing, she seems ok but her energy is very low and she is very sleepy. Should I be worried? Is it bad for dogs to eat possum? or should I say is it illegal for dogs to kill them?
