  1. I have used livamol for a couple of years for my kelpies,my foster kelpies have it in their food as well while in my care....As their food is made up altogether, my black dog gets it as well, it doesnt hurt for them to have it, but they have gorgeous coats anyway the blacks...It does darken up the choc coats
  2. I luuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuv miss pink, then meg was a miss pink..., they are all too cute.....
  3. I never realised it was this pair of scallywags..........Job well done JuJu.......Brilliant work
  4. Yes ours jumped 100 for the year also...and we havent claimed yet...But thats ok. We are with PIA....I think no matter what whether it be human or animal all insurance policies jump to make up for claims made.lol shareholders have to be kept happy too.lol
  5. I believe the QLD Et's are held in Mackay, Kingaroy and Ipswich. Not sure if any of these are close to you. M YEH ITS NOT FAR FROM ME AT ALL I LIVE IN IPPI. THERES ONE ON THE NORTH SIDE AS WELL. THE BIKE THING DOESNT WORRY ME AT ALL. IF I COULD FINISH THEN GO BACK TO THE START AND TAKE SOMEONE ELSES DOG I WOULD:-) On your keyboard; to the left hand side usually next to your A key is the caps lock key. Yours seems to be on. PROBLEM BEING? YOU CANT READ ENGLISH IN ALL CAPITALS.
  6. My meg is having her 3rd season, and everytime she has a phantom, but this one seems to be more normal than her usual hormonal explosion...Usually we dont even train while she's in season, as she just doesnt cope, or should i say i dont cope, but the one thing she does do is goes off her food around the end of the 3week cycle, but she bloats like nothing else, we have been to the vet before just in case, and he says its all good, its just my special needs girl:-)
  7. My girl is not of working line kelpies she is a bench , but she has a great time, and has a great time weaving and to put her 3 sheep through her obstacles, and can keep them under control in the bigger paddock when out there, but as far as your concerned she should not be doing it, because she hasnt earnt the right too. Thats like me saying well we ride 80k mountain biking some sunday mornings, shorter all the other weeks, but your not up to our standard so dont bother practicing.
  8. I find it interesting that you have such a negative view of the word 'amateur'. Unless a person has a sheep farm or is training working dogs to sell anyone doing 3 sheep trials, yard trials or ANKC herding is an amateur IMO. Is it ANKC herding you have a problem with? ANKC herding has strict temperature controls. Dogs gets stopped very quickly too if anything looks like going wrong. Most of the trials I have been to the people pull their dogs up before the judge intervenes though. At all the training places i have been to the instructor handles the dog first to see what is going to happen. The owner and dog are only allowed to have a go if it is apparent the dog is ok with the sheep. I agree with Jules. My instructor is into trials and judges. He makes a living out of training dogs....He does not knock back anyone who asks, but once he sees the dog, he knows pretty quickly if the dog is going to work...My dog is a bench kelpie, who in fact loves to work. yes we are amateurs, but we are learning as we go. Is that so wrong.Just because we are not on a 1,000 hectare sheep farm,we should not have a go The sheep get changed regularly and I haven't seen any sheep abuse. Is a Goldie a good breed to do herding with, well no. Didn't feel like saying that on a public forum though and know my instructor will handle it gracefully and in a way that will leave the OP feeling good.
  9. Hey Whitka, Look in my experience up here in Queensland, no instructor i know of lets a dog in with their sheep off leash anyway until they are assessed. There is no harm in going to a reputable facility (maybe you could get in touch with diggers herding down your way for at least someone to talk to), and having someone let you know whether you may be able to have a try at least....I know where i go, a leash is never dropped until our instructor is satisfied his sheep are ok.
  10. Yes whitka, anyone can have a go....if you think your dog has a bit of instinct...what sort of dog do you hav?Are we talking Toby?. Your instructor will soon tell you if you have one that may pick it up anyway
  11. While the penalties are next to nothing, anyone with a cruel tendancy can do whatever without drama. They are more likely to get charged for wilfull damage to the bloody front yard than what they did to the dog
  12. what a terrible outcome for the poor girl...is it because of her breed they wont transport her? surely someone we know on here knows an interstate truckie that goes east to west:-)....I feel for you and i dont know any solutions to this one sorry
  13. geez how fit would we be at 60k a day....Mine will have to be happy with 12...Mine havent done much in this wet weather, but Jones gets just as much enjoyment watching his Kong roll from the front of the treadmill(while im on it mind you)and shoot out the back, then he gets it and watches it again till i tell him no more, as im going to break my neck on it...

  15. Great to see....Was very good to see positive moves for a change
  16. :D Is there another report with more information? It belonged to a friend of mines, friend...They did some horrible things to this horse. No excuse if they find out who did it. Lock them away as far as im concerned at let them be dealt with inside by animal lovers...These are all good people these things happen to and the scum that get away with it think they above the law. Things have got to change.
  17. Worst part of this report is, they didnt tell you everything that happened to this poor animal
  18. ;) :D I cant speak for any other rescue, but the one im associated with. I foster care and i hope we do help the small % of dogs thatwe save from death row...I get emails all the time from my foster furkids new parents on how well they are doing. I also have 2 papered pure breds myself. It would be nice to think these bad experiences come down to alot of volunteers maybe not stepping up to the mark on that day. They do not run like clock work and some days are tougher than others, but all i can say is we try
