  1. I am looking to buy a pup from a registered breeder who does the right thing for the breed standard. In my search so far I’ve encountered a puppy farmer who churns pups out at a rate of almost 70 pups last year! Add to that more litters registered in the first 3 months of this year. This breeder is not the only one, there are others. These people are registered breeders. BUT puppy farmers. Now here’s the rub. They charge as much as the breeders who do the right thing with care for bloodlines, conforming to the breed standard, testing for certain breed-specific conditions, DNA testing, caring for the mother’s health and of the puppies, vet care, etc etc. These measures all cost money for the good breeder. The puppy farmers don’t incur these costs. I can’t understand why there are no regulations in place to prevent these puppy farmers from breeding so prolifically and commanding ridiculous prices. They have turned their dams into money making machines.
  2. Yes, we buy our dog food from them. The ladies there are very helpful and will cut the meat fresh and bag it into half kilo or kilo bags, whatever your pref. They have a large variety of meats to choose from, check out their website capalabapetfood.com. Our dogs like the fresh beef but not too keen on the roo (it's a bit strong smelling). Chicken necks are great too. We're working our way through the different things they offer. They'll deliver if your order is over or close to $50 but that's a lot to freeze unless you share with someone. We used to buy from a local butcher shop cos it was cheap but sometimes the meat and chicken was not the best and the dogs just wouldn't eat it. I'd recommend them because their meat has always been fresh and the dogs love it.
  3. How do I sedate my Himalayan Persian so that I can clip her? I’ve just bought some Wahl 2-speed clippers and am keen to give it a go. She loves being brushed but won’t tolerate being combed for long. Last time a groomer clipped her at home and I ended up with shredded arms from elbow to wrist.
