  1. Hi everyone, My beautiful Jack Russell, Max who is 9 months old, is still not toilet trained, I wonder what I have done wrong and how I can correct it before it's too late. I live in a terrace house in Redfern, Sydney. Max has been living in the courtyard since he was 5 months old. The kitchen/sun room area opens into the courtyard through a double sliding doors, a double sliding panels with mosquito net and then a double security grill. It would be perfect if I can have a dog hole in the door but with these 3 layers of doors in the way and security issue in this area, I don't think it's possible unless I spend big bucks to redo all the doors. There is a small landing before you step down into the courtyard with a 3 steps stairs. Max's kennel is on the landing where he sleeps, we put a pet loo at the far end of the courtyard, which is 4m x 8m with 10 m walls on the other 3 sides. We started training Max to use the puppy training pad when we first got him, when he was 8 weeks old. He was using it fine. As soon as we moved him out into the courtyard when he was 5 months old. Max soon started to poo and wee all over the courtyard. We tried getting him to poo and wee on the training pad but he will only sit there for hours and stared at us. He usually chewed the training pad into pieces when we are not looking. And poo and wee wherever he likes when we took our eyes off him. We let him poo and wee in the courtyard after a while, we think it's no point putting down the training pad, which he would eventually chewed into pieces. I regretted that we let him have the freedom to do that, for about 2 month, and we only learned about The Pet Loo much later. We were shocked to learned that we need to spend so much for things like this. We bit the bullet and spent the bucks anyway. It's after 2 months now, we follow the video's instructions, spending many hours of supervising and luring with treats to get Max to poo and wee on the loo, he has not once did it on the bloody loo. He did the same thing, just sit there and stared at us. Can anyone please give a piece of your advice, what have I done wrong? Why does Max not poo and wee on the loo? Why does he still poo and wee in the house? Some friends think that he wants to claim his territory, is that true? What should we do to change his behavior? Your help is much appreciated. YoungBoy
