  1. Thanks Persephone, Me Too!! Stools now appear more natural in colour and she's SUPER Dog now!! A complete change from 2 days ago.
  2. Just wondering if anybody has any information as about 5 days ago our rotty x started to vomit, appear generally unwell and lethargic. She has had pancreatitis in the past but this was slightly different. She was eating lots of grass and bringing it all back up but no diarrhoea, couple of black stools with ++grass!. Treated as per past success, small amounts of liquid, rest, gradual increase in broth/rice etc and she started to spark up yesterday and now appears fine. Obviously, we are taking it slow exercise wise and watching food etc but wondered if she had "done" something to a lizard or skink. Have searched and found that lizards have salmonella on their skin and humans can get poisoned if they don't wash their hands etc. But not much information regarding symptoms especially in dogs apart from to the Vet if really serious!!
  3. Hi Sllebasi, My RottyX,Shepherd and poss Kelpie girl had acute pancreatis earlier this year - a most harrowing experience. She is well now but i still stick to a regime with feeding etc and absolutely no lamb (she's never been interested in roo). She has pet mince from the local butcher - 90% of the time I give it to her cooked with garlic, water and rice flour added - 1/2 cup of this is mixed in with 1 1/2 cups dry food (Woofbix from Woolies seems to best tolerated) and only occasionally does she have it raw. Chicken wings with excess skin cut off and chicken necks but these only given 2 or 3 times per week - good old nylon type bone for chewing/cleaning teeth after tea. As you would be aware there is a lot of trial and error in this but we found our dog could only tolerate 6 - 12 hour fast initially (not 24 hours as suggested). We found Mylanta more palatable (5ml for our girl of 29kg) than Peptosyl which she used to bring back up. We worked on various formulas which I can let you know if you would like but now months afterwards, we still give her a drink of cooked mince/water mixture early in the morning before her walk as she used to have reflux on her walk and vomit up white watery stuff with occasional bits of dried food (sorry for the visual!). When we got home she would have mince/cottage cheese mixture with water and cereal (sometimes a bit of ours!) or cooked rice so that I could give her the glucosamine and fish oil capsules. She would then just have drinks during the day, occasional small biscuit and then just her tea at night with a lower dosed glucosamine/chondroitin tablet. We have stuck to this early drink ritual since and only occasionally vary her night time meal with perhaps a bit of juices from bolognaise pan to add flavour from time to time - after all she is almost human and we certainly watch what anyone else wants to give her! I don't know if this helps, but I can understand how you feel and hope it all pans out. Good Luck
