  1. Hi Hannah! How exciting that you might be moving down here! I live in Bunbury with my danes! Its a beautiful place. We are living on an acre, well moving in a few weeks! Do you plan to move to a large property? We live in Leschenault wich has an awesome Estuary. There are always quiet spots to take your dogs. Not far from housing about 2 - 3km. People ride their horses along there as well. Gelorup, Dardanup, Roelands, Burekup and Leschenault are all close to Bunbury, Between 10 and 20 minutes out of town. Great propertys if your looking at buying. :) Meat.... I feed Black Hawk as I am a supplier for it now. :) I get my chicken mince from Lenards for $1.50kg. We also have a local Butcher in Picton, where you can get cheap bags of off cuts. Lamb etc. We made our own raised feeder stands but bought the bowls from Better Pets and gardens. They have a pretty good range of collars etc but I awlays make the a trip to Perth to buy stuff. Vets, I go to McGreggors. You would know Kaiya from FB. Thats where she works. I completely trust them with my dogs. I do know a few good Chiro's as well! :) There are a lot of great beaches down here. Some quiet coves that we take our dogs too. Pic below. Peppi beach is nice. So is Binningup and Myalup beaches. Any more questions Just Ask!!! :)
  2. No one asks to pat my dogs, they just usually yell out. "where's your saddle!!!!"
  3. Baby Ghost 8 weeks 11 months with kitty 2 years
  4. Ive been feeding Black Hawk for about 4 months now. Both have extremely shiny coats. The ingredients in it are great. No wheat, corn or soy which is in most other premium foods. My dogs did terrible on Euk, RC, Advance, Pro Plan etc. I tried everything! The only one that came close was Eagle Pack. Way too expensive and didnt like some of the ingredients. So happy now. They also get RAW too, chicken necks, eggs, sardiens, pumpkin, lamb off cuts etc.
  5. I paid $1500 for my LR dog. $2500 including flights for my MR dog. He was more because he is "coloured". He has lots of health issues and is only 17 months old. I have now spent an extra $1500 on top of that and will spend another $1000 in the next coming months. Both dogs parents were not hip and elbow scored, thyroid or heart checked. Sadly most breeders dont do it. Do I think I got ripped off, yes. I know a heck of a lot more now and would never buy a dog that is not health tested or charged more based on colour.
  6. All baby puppies are gorgeous, I love anything with a squishy face! Would have to agree that Cockers are just tooo darn cute! My danes as babies. No pictures please!!! Me and my Uncle
  7. I will take both of my boys to an off lead park for a run and a play, I can walk them together but I prefer OH to come with as one is 85kg and the other 65kg!
  8. Hi Anyone!, I've got about 10kg of Pro Plan Large Breed Adult if any one would like it? I have it stored in tubs, sealed, hence why I am giving it away. Nothing wrong with it my dogs are just doing better on a different brand of kibble. I will be at the CAWA tomorrow night from 6pm onwards. (Saturday 15th) So you can collect from there. Amanda
  9. Hi PME, Everything so far seems like a good idea. Developing a good relationship with your breeder is the best way of insuring a good quality puppy. In regards to co-ownership, its not just to protect their lines, but also yourself and the breeder. I am hoping to add another dane to my household, it will be my first show dog. Second actually, but the other one is a whole different story! In my case our breed is in a bit of trouble at the moment and I have no intention of breeding for a very long time! If ever! Only a handful of breeders health test and and I have found one that is doing amazing things for the breed. I will only purchase the dog in a co-ownership, it seems the safest and most resopnsible way. With how much control you have over the dog is up to you and the breeder. Every breeder will have different terms and conditions, it will be what you both agree on. Im easy though as I only want to show so the breeder will be the one using him as a stud. Can you tell I want a boy! Its harder with the girls..... plus I live 9456577890887654 km away! haha! Hope this helps! and good luck in finding a puppy!
  10. Thanks for the reply's guys. I've got someone else helping me out, so hopefully we can find out a bit more info.
  11. I've put this in this section mainly because id like feedback from breeders. I work with a girl who's mum breeds Lhasa's. Now recently she bought in a dog from eastern states to breed with her two bitches. She is NOT a registered breeder and the dog she bought in from eastern states is on the Limited Register. I dont know which state or what kennel he has come from or even if this dog actually has ANKC papers. Yet to find all this out. My main concern is that the bitch she put him to has had spinal problems. Not sure to what extent but she was paralysed for a good few months or so. Also this bitch is a X. She also put the dog to one of her other bitches a Lhasa who is not registered. This dog has what looks like an undershot jaw. Now the puppies all have hernia's and one needed immediate surgery. And this is just the begining..... Should I did deeper and find out where this dog has come from? the LR dog? He would not have been 12 months when he sired his first litter, which by the way he sired two at once. Would you want to know if you were the breeder?
  12. My 85kg dog jumps in. He is very agile for a big dog. The other one, 58kg will put his front paws up but OH and I have to lift his bum!! :D
  13. Diva that is terrible! I was aproached by someone looking for a stud dog for their GD bitch. I politley told him that my dog was a registered show dog. He then stated that the owner (his sister) is a vet and the bitch has "papers". Now I know for a fact that there is no registered breeders in my town for danes. I turned and walked away. Happy to note that my boy is now desexed as he had to many faults that he would of passed on to his puppies. People dont understand and think just because a dog is "big" or has a big head etc etc they think they should breed it. I also have a friend at work who's mum breeds malteseX. She knows that I dont approve of it but will happily tell me that one of her mums bitches had pups yesterday and another litter is due next week!!!!!!!!!
  14. I've never met a Pointer but I love the GSPs!!! They are true to being very crazy!! but with enough exercise like any dog can be lounge lizards inside. My sister in law got a gsp 2 months before we got our dane. These two all though completely different breeds and different in size got on so well!!! Odette (gsp) was a crazy puppy and would run rings around our dane. Rocco (dane) was so unco as a puppy but realised that as he got older he just had to sit on her! Puppies are a handful but if you can get past that stage then you have one amazing dog. I personally think they are too small. But I have giant dogs..... Here are some pics of them playing Rocco 10 weeks - Odie 16 weeks Rocco 6 month - Odie 8 months.... bit of a difference.
