  1. went to parklea markets today, n seen two very cute pups! however, the man admitted they were pittys in a very hushed voice! to me they could of passed as crosses as they were pretty wrinkly, i do like some pittbulls (if they like me) but i dont know why people risk selling a restricted breed! anyway, thought i'd just say my piece as i couldnt quite believe it....
  2. main reason i dont trust bull terriers anymore.... they hurt! i feel for the little kiddies.
  3. they do actually vaccinate under 2's but they can have it before they come in or the vaccine doesnt take effect quick enough....
  4. thats just like saying if a human lost a foot he should get put down too?
  5. not if you have a clause 16d. look into it, it helps...
  6. the pound at the moment can only desex 10 animals per week, as they go to camden univesity, but i have been told by staff that the tendering system && desexing program is still under review-- these things take time people!! its not going to happen overnight! yes dogs definitely need desexing for health & population reasons, & the council is working on it... oh and i was in there the other day, a man said to staff, "oh i only have $22 to buy a dog." he stayed there for a good hour! so weird....but thankfully he didnt get one, imagine if he did? thats the thing, alot of people when i was there try & get cheap dogs, (and cats) yet, if you cant afford to buy an animal, how can you afford to properly look after it? also, blacktown pound doesnt tell customers what anyone else has bid, it is what you can afford!! same as if its first in gets the dog, well people are still going to complain they didnt get the dog arent they?
  7. hmmm... yeah i guess the media is good, i guess i brought it up about the staff as i have overheard some people at the pound when i went there saying the staff arent compassionate about the animals, when i can see when i go there staff may be serving customers but comforting a scared litlle pooch, so i dont know?? i wish council would do something about it..... but no they like to paint over things (see cattery) or as milas mum put it build gardens.... even safety for staff isnt a high priority im told (what the??) ;)
  8. ok yes the negative media coverage might seem great to you, but try to see it from a workers point of view. if i was to start bringing the media down on the place you work, would you feel happy about that? even though it may get the council to fix things? i do agree whole heartedly that the pound needs a change, but people do need to realise its workers do care, & do all they can to help the communitys lost animals with the resources available. complusory desexing is a must, but there is no vet on the premises, only a few dogs a week can be desexed at the university, & its taking council a long time to find a solution; being a part of the council they have a stupid budget & priorities. ....grrr....
  9. hey everyone, in blacktown advocate there is more bad press about blacktown pound, i feel that yes blacktown needs to change, but it getting a slagging all the time is getting annoying. the pounds got a long way to go but it still has come a distance already, so isnt it better to work with the pound rather than bag it out all the time?? or at least get a petition or something to start moving council faster in a constructive way. anyway whats everyones ideas? ;) http://blacktown-advocate.whereilive.com.a...s-at-the-pound/
  10. i'd advise not taking it to a different shire as most wont accept a dog from outside area...
  11. basically if you report a barking dog you have to keep a diary of when it barks, get neighbours to do the same. the rangers should do something if you have that. council doesnt do welfare matters however....
  12. my friend wasnt able to get his licence back until he paid his cityrail fine, its all connected but thats really the only way to get someone to pay, if she didnt pay before, well she isnt going to pay if they dont take more serious action. make her pay for leaving her dog!!
