  1. I have a Skin, Immune and Mobility Formula that was blended for my dog, however it isn't right for him, there is alot there and would last someone a long time if they wanted to give it a shot, I'm not asking anything for it.

    Blended by: http://www.meadowsweetherbs.com.au/page/canine_blends.html

The initial cost was $120 for a Kilo, I'm pretty sure they sent more than a Kilo and we've used about a 1/4 of it as you don't need to use much.

    Contains:

Milkthistle, Burdock, Aniseed, Nettle, Clivers, Valerian, Marigold, Echinacea, Devils Claw, Chamomile & Brewers Yeast.

My dog doesn't tend to do well on Brewers Yeast.

It was just mixed it in with his dry food and we never had a problem with him accepting it.

If you're interested, let me know.

    Hi Meh,

I would be very interested! I'm in Qld, and of course I'll pay postage. Is it still available? Thanks in advance!

  2. Raelene, I don't usually cry when commenting in Rainbow Bridge thread, but tonight the tears are flowing.

Zoe looked like she was put on this earth in order to help others. I wish I had met her - elderly Staffies have a special place in my heart.

    Run free Zoe...

  3. Do you mean Speech, Rastus? He's not a puli, is he? Absolutely love Arrested Development

Froggy would probably be Marylin Manson or Ozzy Osborne, as she is a crazy lunatic who doesn't really think about what she's doing or any concequence it may have.

Stimpy would be the lead singer of Arrested Development - perfect and always makes me smile.

  4. Thought you might like this. I don't know who wrote it - but it tugged my heartstrings.......

Oh gosh, RANDCMOORE31, that is just TOO sad :o ;)

I am at a rescue almost daily, and that poem just brings to mind some of the poor dogs who have passed through the gates.

  5. Poor Bindi. She'll have forgotten all about it by tomorrow

Poor MrsGrumbleBum...betcha have butterflies in your tummy thinking about her. I know I get that feeling when something is wrong with my boy. I'm sure the vet won't mind if you give them a quick call to check on her progress. I always do :D

  6. My boy has skin issues, and no, I was not informed that blue's are prone to skin issues (no big surprise, right?). My boy also has an overshot jaw. I was told of this, but not the implications (i.e. his lower canines jut into the roof of his mouth/palate). As I had no intention of showing or breeding, I didn't mind.

Keep a close eye on the condition of his front teeth. They may be more prone to tartar than in a dog with more correct bite.

Thanks for your advice poodlefan, Raz and BlueStaff. I often check inside his mouth, and I have had the vet check it a few months ago. I will certainly be getting it checked regularly though, as the vet explained what can happen and how he may need GA to take care of it.

And thanks also for not shooting me down!

  7. For the SBT breeders it's simple... don't breed blue and remove the accidents that crop up from the gene pool.

I ummed and ahhed about posting here, but what the heck!

As you probably guessed, I bought my blue boy from a BYB. That was BEFORE I found DOL, and back then I knew no better. I do now, so please no :D

My question is this - what would have happened to him if he was born into a litter of a reputable breeder? Would he have been PTS due to his jaw? I have often wondered. I know dogs that aren't "show standard" could be sold to homes as pets, but would the same happen for dogs with a physical (but not disabling) fault?

I am perfectly happy with my boy, and wouldn't swap him for quids. He's a wonderful pet, and is great with my children. I would be lost without him.

  8. I've added a new foster puppy calendar on my Redbubble page... we now have 3 up there available for your viewing (or purchasing) pleasure...

    http://www.redbubble.com/people/tdierikx/calendars

All photos can also be purchased as cards, postcards, or prints of various types. Some can even be purchased as posters!

http://www.redbubble.com/people/tdierikx/art <- hit this page and feel free to go through all the stuff there... *grin*

All profit from any sales of ANY of my Redbubble stuff is going to the rescue.

    T.

WOW, Nugget/Dutch is one of the best looking pups I've ever seen. I can't decide which calendar I like better! Amazing work, tdierikx. Better start saving my pennies, I think.

  9. Today a special friend of mine passed away. He was a gentle giant. He had a hard life, and a hard exterior to match. But those who broke down his tough shell managed to see the real Jackster. I fell in love with the gentle giant. When I first met him, he scared me. I automatically dismissed him as a savage, dangerous dog. Luckily for me, I persevered. The ugly mutt showed me his soft interior once he knew I was a regular visitor to his place. Many a day was spent with the big galumph sitting on my foot for back rubs, or his massive head nudging me for ear scratches.

I didn't know him for very long. But the time I spent with him will be cherished. He was big, lumpy, cranky and short-tempered. Guess what? SO AM I!!!

Rest in peace darling J. I will miss you. But I won't forget you. The tears I shed are partly selfish, because my time with you was short, and partly happy tears, because I know you are no longer in pain. Run free big boy :)

  10. BTW, this is a puppy after almost a month on UA. I don't think anybody could say that he isn't doing well on it.

After reading this thread, I have decided to try Uncle Albers. I compared the protein and fat content to our current SuperCoat Puppy, and found both had 14% fat, and the protein only differed by 1% (SCoat 29%, UA 28%). It doesn't look or smell that bad, and I gave Benson a few tidbits to sample as I was mixing it into his remaining SuperCoat. He couldn't get enough! After seeing Ellz's Staffords, and hearing the feedback from other exhibitors and breeders, I am looking forward to seeing how my boy does on it, and whether his itches decrease or not.
