  1. I'm not 100% sure that it's big enough.. but the 'North Adelaide Dog Park' is pretty big, I've seen plenty of people jogging with their dogs there. It's a fairly popular park though
  2. I think it's wrong for the victim to be upset that the witnesses didn't help him. If I were in his position, I would not have expected anybody else to jeopardize their life and limbs for me - those dogs clearly meant business. I'm not sure what he expected them to do - it would have taken a great deal of courage for the average person to get out of their car and go over and help.. and if they had gone about it the wrong way they could have made things worse! The only person this man should be mad at is the fool who failed to keep their animals properly confined. If I was in the victims position, I would WANT someone to film it happening! You can't dispute such strong evidence in court.. I am sure this man will have no trouble at all pursuing a case with the owner of these dogs and he has every right too. I do hope that the police were called first/called by somebody else in the car.
  3. Not heaps strange compared to some of those.. but I have a customer who has a maltese X called 'Snot' lol. Another one that springs to mind is a customer with a lovely GR X Poodle called 'Goth'.. suits him so well! lol
  4. I think a lot of people are misunderstanding in which way this man forgot his dog was in the car. I'm only speculating but given the information available, I'm fairly sure I'm correct in saying that it wasn't that he knew the dog was there and made a conscious decision to leave her in the car for any reason.. he actually forgot she was in the car at all. It has tragically occurred with peoples babies and toddlers.. 'forgotten baby syndrome' http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-2113440/Forgotten-baby-syndrome-It-unthinkable--accidentally-leaving-baby-hours-lots-busy-parents-devastating-consequences.html#axzz2KBvIToaR Poor dog and poor Guide dogs WA worker.. he would be heartbroken.
  5. My dogs diet is mostly based on raw turkey.. he's been eating the same thing for 3 years and appears quite fine.. lol. I think as mentioned earlier, people google weird things like "what foods are bad for dogs" and when turkey skin comes up, as in.. fatty, cooked roast turkey skin.. they immedietely appply all of the information to turkey as a whole.. raw turkey is fine and turkey necks are great :)
  6. I use those bowles as well PME. They are excellent, non slip, d/washer safe etc. life time warranty. Dura pet makes them from memory :) Yep, Durapet.. they are my favorite too :). They go right down to teeny weeny kitten size and right up to great dane size..
  7. A tough one.. if it were just me and my animals or maybe even just my partner and my animals.. I would stay with them no matter what happened. However.. having a child makes things a bit more tricky! There is no way in hell I would want my child to stay with me and miss being evacuated so I'm quite sure that if I was presented with a situation where we needed to evacuate I would go with my toddler to the safest place and leave my animals if there really was no other way. It would break my heart into pieces and I would do everything possible to ensure their safety (and definitely would have a go smuggling them hidden under my shirt! lol) but ultimately.. if it came down to leave with my child or stay with them.. I would have to go :'(. I hope that never, ever has to happen.. it's made me teary just thinking about it!!!
  8. Our dog (4 year old Italian Greyhound) had 1/2 a turkey neck and about 100g of the BARF mix I make Our foster dog (a 16 month old quite underweight staghound) had 600g BARF mix, a big handful of puppy kibble, a lamb neck bone and the other half of the iggies turkey neck which she bench surfed off the countertop! Cheeky thing. lol
  9. Perfect name for the white one! lol
  10. Mine is always inside when were are out, usually in a crate unless we can't get back to let him out for longer than 4-5 hours which sometimes is the case. When it's hot I leave the fan on for him but rarely the aircon, our house stays remarkably cool thanks to it's 18ft ceilings!
  11. Yes, absolutely! However not every dog I come accross, usually just the ones who are actively trying to get my attention as I walk past or something lol. I own a nervous dog who would not like to be touched by strangers so I'm conscious of that but if there is a dog wiggling on the end of it's lead for a pat I will always ask the owners and do so if they say it's okay :)
  12. I dont really have an opinion on this.. but the lack of angulation in the 'bone mouth sharpei's' hind legs at 3:29 is a bit unsettling! Is that normal for a bone mouth sharpei??
  13. I sometimes feed the drum sticks but honestly prefer the wings :)
  14. Sounds like a relatively normal reaction to me and one that I have observed in my foster puppies several times. It sounds like he is on the mend and I would not be overly concerned at this point :) I imagine that the diarrhea should be gone over the next couple of days.
  15. My cattle dog X used to obsessively lick me on the legs after a shower.. used to drive me up the wall! Lol My Iggy likes to hop in the shower me when the opportunity presents! It's a bit weird as he usually hates water and would do anything to avoid a bath.. but if I'm in the shower, he wants to get in and wont take no for an answer easily Lol
  16. The baby and the seal iggy seem to be both looking at Boomer in the same way. bahahahaha so true! I didn't notice that :p Lots of people and other dogs look at him this way.. he's a special creature lol.
  17. Well Boomer isn't a mixed breed.. but I certainly think he's pretty orange :p! These little guys are Ivy and Tannon, two little orange bubs that we fostered for Adelaide All Breed Dog Rescue. They were staffy X something.. People used to ask if they were Boomers puppies when we went out walking.. LOL. I used to call them the 'red squad' when they charged around the yard in formation together hehe This is Stewie, another one we fostered for Adelaide All Breed Dog Rescue. His breed was a real mystery.. definitely something houndy (beagle?!) X cattle dog X something with long legs and probably some staffy in there too. He's 6 months old now and is growing to be a beautiful big red dog though with an amazing temperament to match!
  18. Sometimes Boomer gives me some serious attitude when I'm taking photos of him! And sometimes we get this.. Whoops, edited because I copy pasta'd the wrong codes! lol
  19. More info.. How old is the dog? Is this a new thing? What are you feeding him and have you recently changed his diet?
  20. I'd increase their bone in take a little bit :) Once a week is good but I think you would see a difference if you gave them a bone a bit more often. I have an Italian Greyhound with very good teeth.. every other dog in his litter has had a dental at only 4 years old and his breeder cautioned me I would have to do the same with him early on in his life as his parents "had bad teeth". She was in shock when I took him to see has last year and he had a near perfect mouth! Up until he was 1.5 years old I was feeding him dry food only.. at only 1.5 I could already see a little bit of plaque! I switched him to a mostly raw diet and am still blown away by how quickly that plaque dissapeared and has not returned. I was also brushing his teeth on a daily basis but no longer do that. I find that lamb necks and turkey necks are best for keeping teeth clean :) Also I'm told that 'bully sticks' are good for maintaining clean teeth but not really getting rid of plaque once it is built up.
  21. reread again.. 30cm, not 30m ;). All the same I think it's fair to say that the neither owner had adequate control of their dogs in the situation. Sometimes accidents happen. I don't see the point in rehashing everything in fine detail but I think if there's one thing that you take away from this it should be that your boy is able to escape his harness and needs something extra to ensure he stays on lead and under control. I'm not sure of the technical term for them but you can buy little connectors that connect the harness to the collar or the head collar to the collar, etc that give you that extra bit of assurance that they are not going to get off. I also don't think it's a good idea to walk two decent sized dogs together, especially if one has issues with other dogs (I am assuming)
  22. My good friends husky died a few years ago and just recently on the anniversary of his death she posted a video she'd made with videos and pictures of him over the years with this song.. "Our song" By Goodnight Nurse. Definitely not going to be everyones cup of tea because it's kind of emo/pop.. but the song was so appropriate for this dog, especially the chorus as he was a big sook and was always 'talking' and she'd call it singing :)
  23. What the hell..? Unbelievable.. what could have driven them to do something like this. If they hadn't been handling the animals in an abusive manner and hadn't trashed the RSPCA I'd be inclined to think that maybe their imaginations had run away with them a bit (as happens when you are 10) and they were trying to free the animals from 'prison' or something similar. I really don't think that's the case here though! Very scary.. I hope somebody steps in to help these girls as they obviously have problems. I'm impressed and amazed that the RSPCA was able to find all of the released animals so quickly.. especially the cats! Poor things would have been terrified. Well done :)
  24. Thank you tdierikx, we are aware of this. The pup is fighting strong and feeding very well. I think the mother rejecting it had more to do with the very traumatic birth that she had and the fact that she was bred young on her first heat to a large dog which produced large puppies. Sadly her owners neglected to get her veterinary treatment and the other puppies were all dead on arrival after an almost ridiculously long, hard labour.
