  1. I have 3 kids 11, 8 & 5. The 11 yr old is responsible for feeding the 2 dogs & cat & she shares the duty of pooh patrol with her 8 yr old sister. The 8 yr old is responsible for grooming the cat. I am responsible for walking & training the dogs & also for washing, worming, fleaing etc. Oh & of course paying for them! The kids had no say in the breed of dog as we had ridgies before they were born. They did however help choose the name, we all voted on our favourite :) My 11yr old was with us when we pts our girl last year. It was her decision & I think it was the right one. She now understands that being responsible also means that sometimes you have to make really hard decisions. She handled it way better than I & it taught her a lot about grief & death. We never had pets as children as we lived in a unit, Mum didn't have the money or time either. I am glad we didnt because of those reasons but wow, I love having furkids. We get so much pleasure out of them :)
  2. Thanks english.ivy. It looked to me that the ingredients were very similar hence my curiosity ;)
  3. is Black Hawk the same dry food as the Holistic brand offered by Next generation Pet foods?
  4. Hi Missy...don't have a great deal of advice apart from they probably should have not been left alone when you were out! I separated mine for some weeks as an older dog is far too rough to be left unsupervised with a puppy. I am sure more there will lots of good advice re what to do, GL!
  5. Oh that is so sad There really are no words, be kind to yourself x
  6. As a ridgie lover & owner, I am wishing you the best of luck. Ours have always adored kids ~ just curious as to how does she handle them in your own home? Looks like you have some great support, you're very lucky!
  7. My girls & I have never recovered from watching Hachi Chris Mother of the year for that pick! (Note to self -read the cover next time!!!!!)
  8. Just a question please - could someone recommend where to buy online in Oz for antlers, pigs ears & treats please? I didn't place an order on clean run for these as I thought customs may destroy them. Thanks
  9. Thank you OP, I just bought a heap of goodies for my pup & soon to be puppy
  10. Will check these sites out, thank you all so much for sharing ;)
  11. I am after Sentinel spectrum for large dogs & revolution for the cat. PP was by far the cheapest I found for both & I wouldn't be whinging had it been a slight increase!
  12. Sadly, I thought that was the case Mags. Tiff, how much did yours rise? Stormie, I think the Sentinel rise was more than 10% on PP - I went to purchase yesterday & the price had risen by $47.00 for 2 products! Any recommendations for both Revolution & Sentinel online please?
  13. Just wondering if it's just me or have the prices risen sharply on Priceless Pets?
  14. RIP Miko & huge hugs to you MissyPriss x We faced this on 24 March & reading your OP, my heart broke for you. We, like you, did everything we possibly could to keep our boy here. Knowing that we did our best, well it kept me sane when I thought the grief would overwhelm me. Take it easy on yourself x Lisa
  15. OMG now that is a tail! Love the 2nd pic Our ridgies tails are like whips & they clear benches, tabletops & have been also known to shred pot plants! Have lost count of the number of glasses, bottles & plants we have lost over the years.
  16. LOL @ lamingtons! I change the litter everyday & if I can I scoop out the 'lamingtons' during the day as well Little bugger gets in there first thing in the morning before I get a chance to clean it out. Will look at the covered trays as the laundry is the access to the backyard. Not handy to close off with 3 dogs & 3 kids! Hopefully the pup will be too big to fit in there shortly, however having said that I wouldn't put anything past this little smartie pants.
  17. I was thinking the covered litter tray would be the WTG as we have very limited space. Sandra 777 what is AFAIK? & thanks
  18. This is totally gross but our 8 week ridgie has started to eat the kittens poop from his litter tray. I vaguely remember our old ridgie did it when he was a puppy too but can not for the life of me remember how we stopped it or if he just outgrew it? Have any of you dog & cat owners experienced this & if so any idea how to stop this? TIA Lisa
  19. Sadly we did this a month ago. Our dogs hate going to the vet so we knew it would have to be at home. As far as I am concerned it was the least I could do for my best friend. It broke my heart but this experience was not about me, it was about letting my beloved boy go because he couldn't do it himself. The euthanasia was the easy part, the hardest part is the decision to euthanase & the gaping void they leave. I have friends that could not do this but I am glad my boy died peacefully in my arms. It was the least I could do for the 11yrs of love & protection I received. Love & miss you Tully x
  20. Thanks for all your replies. I purchased from http://www.petsplus.com.au & received my package today. Now to hope the pup playes with the toys & not the shoes
  21. Am curious to know what sort of reaction the FT has to frontline? Our ridgie has a severe reaction to it as well, she loses spots of hair all over her body & becomes really itchy.
  22. Thanks, never thought of the $2 shop. Will have a squizz there. We did have kong for our old ridgie but it's been a few years since he was a pup & there are so many durable toys to choose from now. Sadly he has since passed on but we still have all the bedding, bowls, leads etc....so it's just a matter of getting some toys really for teething. As we still have our bitch, I am hoping the pup won't get too bored & she'll pass on her good manners ;) Nice looking ridgie you have there Ridgie Didge (nice name too!).
