  1. friday night zoomies: gotta wear him out before we go out for dinner and put him in his crate
  2. You're right Stormie. my maths was terrible last night. He was born Monday 14th June, we picked him up from breeder on Friday 30th July (slightly early as breeder was in orange but came up to sydney for that night). So 12 weeks will be on.... Monday 6th Sept. First puppy class is that weekend at centennial park on sunday 12th. And he'll have to get his shots and microchipping before then obviously, also hopefully he will have had time to heal from the desexing if his testicles have dropped by then. ill try to get around to replying to some of the other posts also - but thankyou all very much for the replies... working on the biting as much as we can. Cheers
  3. i recommend crate training - dogs need their own space just as much as we do - a little den for him or her. not sure if you can keep your pup separated from the rest of the household pets - but i would def try that for as long as possible - in fact if you dont know if you're other household pets are immunised then you have too! Thought your breeder would have told you that thou Where are you getting your puppy from - hope its not from a pet store.
  4. i've noticed my puppy only seems to let them off when he's sleeping.... always silent but deadly ones too
  5. Hi all, Just starting our 3rd week with our new Shiba Inu puppy. His name is Bento. We are crate training him and its going very well. Apart from crying most of the first night we picked him up (obviously he was missing his brothers and sisters) he has been very good sleeping through most of the night, just crying/whinging when he wants to be let out to do his business. He can sleep through til about 6:30am/7am most of the time now which is great - so toilet trained - basically - check. Have just started trying to do some training in the evening - he's starting to get the hang of "Sit" - but only if he knows your holding a treat. Puppy school and his second round of shots are still roughly 3 weeks away One problem i was wondering if any others could help us with is his biting/mouthing that is starting to get quite vicious. We have lots of toys and socks that he likes to chew on or play some tug o war with.... but eventually he'll get sick of them and start trying to really bite hard. At first us yelping out a "Ouch!" from wither of us would stop him from biting so hard, but even now it doesnt have that much of an effect. At times if he cant get to our hands when we are in bed - he will go for the nose (it made my girlfriend cry which kinda freaked him out and he stopped trying to do it, only for the rest of that night). Once he goes for the nose we put him down on the ground in the spare room where his crate is and giving him a firm "Bad Bento" and then leave him. Appreciate any ideas/help on the matter - i know he is teething - but we dont want to become a biter. Included some cutie pics - hope you like them: Outside play: Puppy dog eyes - reminds me of the Puss in boots from Shrek (a side note - i never knew red eye-lashes existed!): Nap time on our bed after morning cuddles: Showing off his fangs: If he sees a jumper draw string dangling - he'll go for it: Cheers!
  6. all good - puppy is at home and getting lots of attention. the first night was ok. he only seemed to want to sleep for a max of 2hrs at a time in his crate then would start crying (what really seemed like screaming) to be let out and do a wee or his business. after letting him outside after 7:30am he then slept at the end of our bed -- trying hard, but his little squeals hard to cope with. will give more updates once i get some time (landed at airport yesterday at 4:30, home by 5:15pm, then drove out to penrith panthers to meet cris the breeder - arrived at 7:15pm due to peak hour traffic, then drove back to darlinghurst were we live all jetlagged sleep. Not much rem sleep last night either - but a bundle of joy he is. still havnt decided on a name. i like: * bear * bento * tails * tucker cheers for the pm's guys. will post some pics soon - ta
  7. Hi all, Unfortunately since leaving my last job i have misplaced my breeders contact number. We have been in contact via email ever since first confirming we wanted a puppy, but i havn't received a email reply in over a week asking for their number, i know they have had internet issues at home. Im in hawaii at the moment returning home tomorrow and was wondering if someone knew SNOWSTARS (rebecca jones) ph number (as the puppy listing is no longer on dogzonline and i never got sent it in a email) snowstars breeder page just slightly panicking is all - and wondered if someone here could help me as the last email i received from them was to all of their future puppy owners and it mentioned pickup is on friday (we arrive 4pm - so that cant work, and originally i got told a weekend pickup at either castle hill showground or erskine park) any help appreciated. pm me the number if it shouldnt be in the forum. kind regards, Chris ps - cant wait to meet our little guy
  8. i would have been interested in reading the replies - but the forum thread has disappeared now? no i found it here: http://forums.ten.com.au/forums/thread.jsp...=0&tstart=0
  9. Hi All, Trying to do as much research before we pick up our little pup in about a month or so. Im interested to get ideas for you're favorite dog parks. Leashed and Off Leash Im living around the eastern suburbs at the moment, but when i grew up at avalon we use to love taking them to the dog park beach at Careel Bay http://tinyurl.com/2fv5ozd - so that one is prolly my favorite - the dogs love chasing those little mudskipper fish! Just wondering what are some of you're fav dog parks around you. Leashed Park / Unleashed Park / Unleashed Beach etc
  10. Counting down the 6 weeks til we meet our Shiba pup. PS - is there anyway to view the whole forum thread rather than opening each reply under Posts in this topic. It just takes so long to read a thread that way.
  11. thankyou all for the replys. i will follow everything up with the breeder. Im off to the US for work training and then when im back it shouldnt long till we get to pick up and meet the little guy. Our front runner name for him is Bear. As in bear grylls . Not very japanese i know...... still toying with names.
  12. I doubt foxtel would pick up that show - but maybe its worth asking their PR department for a better answer: http://bit.ly/cnDCUv
  13. Hi All, I posted a welcome message over in the newbies corner but thought i'd post here too for more advice. After much researching we put a deposit down on a boy Shiba pup from snowstars in orange, litter was born last monday 14th. I am exicted to have a little guy keep me company in the new job i just secured which is more of a work from home role for a UK parent company. So I have a few questions that would be great if someone can help me answer. 1. How much is it usually to get a puppy male desexed? What earliest age is best/reccomended? 2. I plan getting a crate for crate training, food, treats, bowls, toys etc – Anything else? PS – is this a stupid type of crate to get? 3. Is there a Shiba owners group in Sydney? 4. Whats the best way to introduce the new fella to our home (we only live in a small 2story terrace with a small backyard). Any adivce much appreciated. Starting to get very excited counting down the weeks. Un-named boy in sig below Kind Regards
