  1. Raven, the collar and lead look awesome!!! I love the bright colours against Astrid's fur! Looks like you may have found yourself a new little business venture there! Lil - Pleased to hear that you managed to choke down some Christmas prawns! What a bummer about the sunburn! I burn easily, so understand all too well the pain! I managed to get my entire front and back burnt about three weeks before my wedding.... and was still peeling on the day! So embarrassing! Genevieve is currently pacing the house waiting for OH to get up! He would sleep 21 hours in the day if I let him. No such luck for me. So in the meantime, shark dog here is circling the place, driving me batty! Oh, KTB, I had the weirdest dream last night, and you were in it!!!! Don't ask me how or why, but you and I were flat mates (with about 6 other people :p ) but we rarely saw each other because we had different routines. Anyway, you ordered subway and had it delivered (like one does ) and I was yelling at you to come and get it... you were in your room doing something nerdy... Living in this same flat/house/abode were a whole bunch of people I haven't seen or spoken to since I was a kid in school!!!!! It was just weird!
  2. KTB - I hope your family were able to make the most of the day and remember the good times you all shared together. As always, your talents have far exceeded mine!! Elbie and Hoover did far better than Genevieve this Christmas!!! Santa bought her a couple of chew toys, a rawhide bone, some canned food and a bag of training treats!!!! I didn't take any photos though, but just imagine wrapping paper from one end of the house to the other... that pretty much sums it up! Betsy - I hope you are feeling better soon! There is nothing worse than a cold! You feel miserable even though you physically can generally get around! Minxy and Wuffles - I think you sent the rain down to me! It is wet and cold in Melbs today! I started packing for our holiday (to Phuket) this morning and all my summer stuff is in the suitcase - all my winter stuff is in the wash or on me!!!! It's crazy! Genevieve did a bit of a rain dance this morning though. I let her out and she went mental!!!!!!! Caught Genevieve chewing on left over Christmas crackers this morning. Was waiting for one of the snaps to pop and give her a fright, but it didn't happen! Had to quickly confiscate the innards though... could just see an emergency trip to the vet on a public holiday! No thank you!!!! She is curled up on the couch on my preggie pillow at the moment. I am sure she thinks she is the one with aching ailments! I took some snaps but will put up later as not on the right puty to load them!!!
  3. Hi Pretties and Pooches, I hope you all had a lovely Christmas! I was very spoilt as was Genevieve. We had people over for dinner and my doglet was SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO well behaved!!! I was a proud doggy Mum! She was hilarious opening her presents... She was more interested in the paper than the contents of it! I had paper from when end of the joint to the other. Today is a bit of an anti climax really. Hubby won't come to the movies with me and there is nothing happening at home...
  4. Lils- That is the most gorgeous little link!!!! Genevieve got all restless though when I played it! I emailed it to all my chums! On the nylabone front, Genevieve loves hers! She has just in the last month or so really mutilated hers, so she is getting a new one for Christmas. It took her 6 months to wear this last one down, so I am hoping I get as long out of the next one. KA - OMG you could warm a small village with all that fur!! I can't believe one dog can have so much!!! Maybe Kuma needs to consider a short back and sides for the summer? I do love his snoozing shots though! Minxy - Pleased to hear that my dog is not the only thief on a suicide mission! Somehow though, I think she will live forever! I'm sure she has duracell batteries in her somewhere... she just goes on and on and on. If someone knows where I will find them, let me know, as I need to take them out. Wuffles - I am hoping the sun stays out for you!!!! Who ever heard of a wet Australian Christmas!!!!!! Well, Genevieve did her normal barking routine this morning. I ignored her until she jumped on me! I was so mad (tired, nauseous, sore, just generally pregnant) I stormed back into the bedroom and told OH it was his turn to tend to it. Why am I the only one that ever hears her and gets up to her???? Men!!!!
  5. KTB - KA - Dogs do the craziest things!!! I bet there was a comical element in there somewhere!! And yeah, have a wine or three! Rav - Cuteness!!!!!!! Lils - It's a good feeling when you know your dog can do more tricks!!! Means all that hard work wasn't such a waste after all!!! Hi everyone else! AFM: Well Genevieve was in to gold coin chocolates this morning... Hubby was on the phone and while he wasn't paying attention to her and I was asleep, she was munching away on chocolate! This time, they were from the kitchen bench!!!! Hubby got up from his chair, which was then pushed up against the bench and Mountain Dog helped herself!!!! I can't bloody win!!! I worry I will wake up Christmas morning and she will be comatosed by all the junk food in the lead up! Stupid mut! She has started this thing of barking at us if ever we sit on the couch... or in my case, sleep on it. I think she thinks it is her couch. It is really really annoying. She tried to jump up at my face again today, which has me a little worried. She doesn't do it aggressively, just to get my attention. I hope she quits it before Wee Wizzle arrives. I'm not sure what to do about it. We have tried squirting her with water, ignoring her, inviting her up to calm her, getting off all together (which I don't want to have to do)... but she still keeps barking! Hubby seems to think we need to ban her from that room altogether. Any suggestions? Christmas eve we are going to the big carols at the Sidney Music Myer Bowl and on Christmas Day, we have people coming over for dinner, so we will spend most of the day cooking. Should be good.
  6. I know I shouldn't laugh... but how the hell did pooch manage to sprain a toe??? I didn't realise dogs had toes!!!! I hope he feels better soon! I love snorkling James!! What a gorgeous shot!!! KTB - I too am sending you cyber hugs... I can only imagine how trying this time is for you at the moment. I haven't read any other section on the forum in ages... I only ever stop into this thread now. I figure if I want/need any advice, I'll just ask you fellow normal types! It gets so political and I don't need the stress. I have bigger fish to fry. Hello to all the lovelies and their canine companions! Hubby came home from being away last night (Yay! Except for the slight problem of him taking up 2/3 of the bed and snoring... Hello! Fat wife growing by the minute here!!! Shove over!) so Genevieve was beside herself! He slept in quite late this morning and she spent the better part of the morning hanging out outside our bedroom door, waiting in anticipation for it to open and Daddy spring out! Poor her... she had to wait 4 hours between her and I getting up and him rising! She was circling the hallway like a bloody shark! She would lie down at the door for five seconds, then get up and start pacing again! You should have seen the tail!!! I swear one day it will fall off if she keeps wagging it at that same rate!!! Anyway, she was all happy when she saw him grab her harness and his skateboard! Merry Christmas Genevieve!
  7. ;) They have a knack for that! I caught Genevieve under the couch today, trying to unwrap her nylobone! Unlucky for her, I wrapped it up pretty well, so she was struggling with the tape! And it wasn't even under the tree!! She stole this one from the bottom of my wardrobe while I was in the shower! Stupid me didn't close the bedroom door properly. ;) She was also caught stealing minties!!! I found wrappers on the lounge room floor!! I had to phone Simon on his way home from the airport to warn him (I was at work by this stage) incase she had a good chuck in our absence! She is soooo cheeky!!! She really is the bloody grinch!!!!
  8. (I think its inside out.....) Max is right Niques, G's ear is inside out!! She always does it to annoy me, I swear!!!! SHe looks like a homeless dog I think, when she flicks her ears about! The inside of her ears are tan (almost like a real autumn leaf colour) and the outside are black... She has random tan patches around her... She has dalmation spots on her bum now!!! Awww... she is being all loving again tonight! I am pleased to hear that James was being a gentleman last night - albeit short lived!!! A cane toad... ewww Max looks as though he was having a ball chasing the duckies!!!!! Did he bark at them?
  9. Cleo, the dancing with dogs sounds like so much fun! I looked into doing it with Genevieve, but it was a cut lunch and a water bag away and only week day evenings... and I work evenings, so it meant we were out! Somehow I don't think I would have had the patience for it, or rather, for Genevieve... she has a mind of her own and does what she wants. She is not the most compliant of doggies! Rav - yes... I eat weird things! I don't go as far as putting salt on my honey toast though!! I do love dipping my maccas fries into the chocolate sundae - but won''t be doing that any time soon! Soft serve ice cream is one thing I am a bit weary of! It will however, make it to the list of things I will get Simon to bring to the hospital once Wee Wizzle is out! That and wine!!!!!!!!!!! Ooohh, I wonder if they would administer wine as a form of pain relief during child birth?! How bloody awesome would that be!!! The hangover part, maybe not. Last night Genevieve and I were snuggled on the couch watching The Santa Claus 3. She was soooooooooo cute! She cuddled up next to me, with her paws over my leg and sat through the whole movie! If I didn't know better, I would have said she was paying attention! She was such a good girl and I really really enjoyed her company - like I used to! It was like old times... Well behaved, clean smelling, friendly, happy little puplet! I hope she stays...
  10. She barked for the first time yesterday, I nearly fell over! It's a big deep bark for a puppy. Yesterday it was one bark at Tosca because she was ignoring Astrid, and today for some reason the heat mat that my straightener sits on needed barking at, about 4 or 5 times. :D She wanted her ears straightened!!!!! Didn't you know??
  11. So, today was a big day for me with a bit of running around. Firstly, Genevieve went to the groomers! I am pretty sure the rest of the Cav world would be appalled by her new look and I would soon earn a reputation of being a bad doggie Mum.... my purebred privately educated Cav came out looking like a cav x dalmation x jack russell mut!!!! Check out these pics: I love her knew look!!! I reckon she looks super cute! And she smells and feels devine!!! So smooth to touch too... Hopefully it will keep her cooler in the summer, have her maulting less and easier for me to manage!! She is awfully cuddly at the moment too! Then after all that, I had my 13 week scan! Wee Wizzle is growing nicely and was showing off! Didn't want to disclose what sex it is though!!!! But I did get a wave! It's little hands, feet and nose are just so cute! Sorry, I know it is not dog related, but I just am in amazement at it all. After all that, I came home and snuggled with my lovely pooch! It's just been the best day!!!!!!!!
  12. OMG KTB!!!!!!!!! Those shots of the puplets are freakin' awesome!!!!! Will be back later with details of our awesome day - complete with pics of Genevieve's new do!
  13. Hi Lovelies! KA - Yes, I was eating them all together!!!! The saltiness combined with the sweetness and creaminess was pretty bloody awesome!!! James looks soooo cute!!!! He is so shiny! As does Hoover under the tree!!! Maybe you could wrap him up and he could be a present!! Betsy - The SAnta pic is so adorable! You should make it your Christmas card! I have some pic updates of Genevieve for you... She is being groomed tomorrow, so this are the 'before' shots of my mut!!! Genevieve stealing my croc slipper. Genevieve sniffing out the Baby's pram. Genevieve showing off the change table and other bits and pieces Genevieve chewing her favourite ball! Genevieve test driving the pram! I will take some pics tomorrow of her looking all pretty!!!!!
  14. KTB - I am so sorry to hear about Pap Koala... Are we placing bets as to how long it will take before either Hoover or Elbie attack the presents under the tree? Genevieve's are still in the bottom of the wardrobe. She has already tried to eat one of mine, now way in hell would I put hers out!!! She would sniff them out in a nanno second!!!! Rav - That is great that Astrid and the Kitties are behaving nicely! Makes for a much more harmonious home!! Max - That is one well trained pooch!!! Helping with the dishes and all!!!! Where do I get one of those?? So, today's craving has been Avocado dip with jatz biscuits and maltesers... I've had to watch out for the malteser thief though... she is worse than a shark my dog! She stalks me!!!! This morning she was trying to eat my peanut butter toast. I almost wet myself laughing, because she licked my mug of HOT tea and yelped and jumped off the couch so fast like it was on fire! I'm a bad Mumma... I just told her 'Well, I told you to get off!'... It was pretty hilarious! Well, speaking of muttley, she is barking at the neighbours. They have decked their house out in lights (I LOVE it when people do that!! So it awesome that quite a few houses in my street have done it this year), and they have some flashing action in the front yard.... Her Ladyship doesn't like it and keeps barking. She's not supposed to yap dammit!!!!
  15. They have to be cute when they're little so that we don't strangle them. When they get older they are more tolerable so they are allowed to lose some cuteness ;) ;) SOOOOOOOO True! ;) ;) There are so many times I have threatened to give Genevieve away! One day my friend called me, just as I was cleaning up a mess Genevieve had made - she had been really really naughty. And I said to my friend quite hotly 'Do you want Genevieve? I need you to take her away'... she didn't take her and thankfully she was very good to me on the phone, got me to calm down... otherwise Genevieve may have been buried alive. I'm a bad doggie Mum...
  16. Awww.... why do they have to become big? Why can't they stay little?
  17. That is so not lady-like of Lady G!!! I am appalled!! KTB - There is nothing classy about my dog. She is a mut, just like the rest of them.... No amount of private school and fancy private school clothes made a difference... I just hope she does us proud and gets a real job and doesn't become a couch potato watching Dr Phil all day... Well, you will be pleased to know that I am one of those pregnant people that have all the parenting forums up in arms! I stopped taking my antenatal vitamins weeks ago (wasn't holding them down anyway), since knowingly being pregnant, I have eaten Hungry Jacks, McDonalds, KFC, Camebert and Brie cheese, fresh ham, soft boiled egg, BBQ chicken from coles and calamari and drunk coke and tea nearly every day... I tried to have a sip of Hubby's wine, but it tasted like beer and I literally spat it back at him, which was such a disappointment. Needless to say, I would have consumed that too if it didn't taste so wrong! And the comment regarding ice cream, it is quite literally my staple food! It is the only thing that soothes the heart burn!!!!!!!!!!!! So, it's not hard to see where Genevieve gets her 'precious' yet nonchalant attitude from! I don't really buy int o all the hype. I make sure what I eat is fresh (well, as fresh as Big Mac can be) but other than that, it's not made me sick before, I doubt it will now. I am glad Astrid is on the mend!!! It is always better to be safe than sorry. Wuffles and Max - I don't think Genevieve will ever be 9kgs!!! She is 9 months old now and weighs in just under 6kg. She looks big to me (compared to what she was when she came home), but next to other cavs she is pretty tiny. I don't think she will get much bigger either. She's gonna be on the small side (I hope Wee Wizzle takes it's cue from G!!!!). Hi Kuma! Oh... Anne 3 won't be on next Saturday night... Carols in the Domain is on. I feel ripped off!
  18. Yes Niques, she gets very tidied when she visits the groomer! She comes out looking all even and I can see her paws!! It makes her look all puppy like again! I will have to take a pic and post it when she is done. She looks very cute! She matts so easily and has been getting prickles stuck in her ears and paws, so it is really for everyone's benefit that she is trimmed up! It also helps to thin her coat out a bit, so the malting isn't quite so bad... I hope! I haven't thought to vacuum the machine... I've been wiping the machine and dryer over with a damp cloth after her loads, and emptying the filter of course. I used to think I lost a lot of hair, but man! She takes the cake!!!! It just sticks to everything!!! Rav - I hope Astrid is ok?...
  19. Wuffles - I know what you mean about the malting! Genevieve is shedding something cruel and no amount of brushing seems to help. Her coat is still shiny, but not quite as smooth as it used to be... It's got so bad, that I have to put the washing machine on a rinse cycle after washing her stuff (which I do in a separate load), because her fur was getting on our clothes (and on a load of nappies I was washing ;) ). Anyone got any tips on how to get fur out of things? We go through so much sticky tape and hair removal rolls its ridiculous! I need never ending rolls of those! She is going to the groomer on Friday ( :D :D :D :D I CAN'T WAIT!!), so hopefully she can thin her out a bit. She is looking beyond feral at the moment. How exciting, I didn't realise you were planning a wedding!!!!!!!!! When are you getting married!!!??? I love hearing about other people' weddings (couldn't wait for my own to be over though!). Are the dodgies going to be your attendants!!!!??? Astrid looks like such a darling!!! Those really are puppy dog eyes!!! I bet she bribes you for a whole lot more than you do her!!!! Are her claws as long and as sharp as they look? Lils - You can have G for a little while. She thinks snails are a delicasy! I actually saw her crunch on a shell in the garden last week while Hubby was cooking on the BBQ... I had to make a run for it... KTB - I saw a Hoover look-alike yesterday!!! I chuckled to myself as I have never seen a kelpie with his colourings before... I pulled up at the lights yesterday (waiting for them to go green) and I saw one with his (or her) owner, crossing the road!
  20. ooohhhh!!! Just had to mention I was watching Anne of Green Gables last night too!!! Did you watch the prequel last week?? I am hoping Anne 3 is on next Saturday... despite it not living up to its expectations. My nanna bought me the whole set on VHS years ago, and I had the books as a youngin'. I cry every time... every time Matthew buys her the dress, gives her pearls, when he passes away in her arms and most definitely when she says no to Gilbert!!!!!!! Thankfully, I've watched it enough to know that she finally says yes in the end!!!!! Another oldie but goodie I love reading and watching is Little Women... I am pretty sure 'Lady G' (I am picturing her with Lady Di's crown on when I say that ) thinks she is royalty. Maybe she and Mo'sueir Hoover could have a Royal Wedding!? It would be quite the event - perhaps out do Prince William and Kate!!!! Well, she's either royal or a politician! All she ever does is bark at me at the moment! Drives me insane!!! She is not living up to her breed description at all!! She is currently chewing on a bone somewhere in the loungeroom... I gave up trying to keep her out of there. As long as she is quiet and leaves me a lone, I will deal with the mess later. Though thankfully, she doesn't usually leave too much of a mess! Poor little thing hasn't been to dog school in weeks... I felt so guilty at first but now I am just trying to take each week as it comes and look after myself. If it hasn't been raining I've been too sick. Hopefully in the new year I will be feeling up to it and the weather will be better!! I know as I start to get too massive, it will be very awkward for me, so I want to try and get a few weeks in while we can! To answer your question KTB, Mr Wizzle is planning on taking three months (or so) off when the baby comes along... He has pretty much got work booked up until a month before we are due, so I think his plan is to try and work locally for that last month, then be at home with Wee Wizzle and I for a while. He is much more excited about the pending arrival than I am (well, it's alright for him. He doesn't feel like he is growing by the minute and dying in between). My parents will probably come over for a week or so when the baby is born, but I don't think his parents will. They are more likely to wait until we go to Perth for Christmas. I do sometimes wonder how I will cope with a screaming baby and a barking dog, but I guess I will somehow! Isn't that what Mums do? Just find a way!? We are letting Genevieve spend some time in the nursery with us now, sniffing out all the baby's things... she isn't so keen on the pram though!!! Hopefully if she desensitizes to most of it now, by the time the baby comes along, she will just think it is another thing going in the room!! We certainly don't want to outcast her... when we got her we knew babies wouldn't be that far away, so all the rules and boundaries we have had in place for her have been with the assumption there is a small child around. Mainly I am hoping that as she will be close to 16 months by the time WW is here, she would have settled a bit... I am sorry Papa Koala isn't getting any better... I can only imagine it must be so hard to watch. Lils - I had all four of my impacted wisdom teeth removed a few years ago... And I am pretty sure I would rather go through childbirth drug free than experience that pain again! My MIL still calls me fat chops!!! I have to say though, I am glad I got them out... I had constant ear aches and sinus because of where they were lying. Touch wood, I've never really experienced tooth pain, as apart from having my wisdom teeth removed, I've never had more than a scale and clean done when I have been to the dentist. I haven't had any ear or sinus infections since either.
  21. Hi Lovelies, I'm sorry I've been hit and miss. I have been very unwell... A couple of weeks ago we had a bit of a scare and thought we might lose the baby, so needless to say I have been taking it very easy. Everything looks to be ok now though which is the main thing. I have finally hit the magic 12 week mark so hopefully I will start to feel better for a little while. Cross your fingers for me! Above is a pic Hubby took last night. He came to pick me up from work and G was with him.... She was behaving unusually well for a car trip! Rav - Astrid sounds so cute!!!! Genevieve used to stand on my feet when she was little! I would be doing the dishes and she would fall asleep on my feet. She outgrew it after about 3 weeks of being home (so about 11 weeks or so). I think she learnt pretty quick if she hovered there, she would get stood on!!!!! KTB - I hope you got that afternoon nap in! Have you been flooded in at all? Niques - Genevieve has gone off her food of late too. I was feeding her twice a day, but now she seems to naturally only want to eat once a day... I too have figured she has just hit that point... We don't offer her more than what she should be getting in a day anyway and I gather she won't go all anorexic on me (I hope)... and she seems fine in every other way? It could also be that she hasn't been getting as much exercise (due to me being too busy growing extra lungs, kidneys and what ever else; and heaving), so she isn't burning it off... Max looks so happy in that pic!!!! Hello to those I have missed - I know there are lots of you! I will try my best to keep popping my head in and try to keep up a bit better. I am not very good with personals (as you all by now know!). PS. Genevieve is the Christmas Grinch. I have caught her stealing maltesers, presents from under the tree (what she was planning to do with my maternity shorts I don't know :D ), Christmas tree decis and Christmas cards. She has destroyed one set of Christmas lights too! Then, I caught her trying to jump into the baby bath (in the Nursery)!!!!!
  22. Sorry I haven't been in for a while. Here is the only pic we have managed of late! My dirty dog with her Daddy's shorts... Bit of a worry!
  23. Hi Everyone! Sorry I haven't been on in a while! Nothing personal! I haven't even tried to read the past 20 pages that I have missed.... Slightly dog - unrelated: I've been really unwell. The doctor has given me something for it to take the edge of it (supposedly, I am yet to notice a difference), but I've had a few days off work passed out on the couch (or the bathroom floor ). All the scans revealed there is one healthy little Wee Wizzle (for a brief time we thought there may have been two!), so that is the main thing. Husband was home for a couple of weeks, so have slowly been transforming the spare room, throwing out drum kits and other crap that he has collected over the years, to make way for baby furniture. Genevieve I am pretty sure, knows something is up! She has spent a fair bit of time hanging out in what will be the nursery... we are trying to desensitize her to it, so that when the baby eventually does come home, hopefully the novelty of the 'other bedroom' would have worn off! In the mean time, we have moved Hubby's desk into the dining room and she has dragged her ruggies from the couch to under his desk. She spends most of her time there now. I feel like a bad dog Mum at the moment, as between very wet weather and morning sickness, she has missed the last three weeks of obedience. Hopefully the rain will hold out tomorrow and I can get myself together for her! While Hubby was home, she spent a fair bit of time skateboarding though! I haven't been letting her sit on my lap like I used to, so she has her nose out of joint about that too! I've been giving her bones to eat/play with, but all she does is walk around the house with it in her mouth! It is quite funny! She trots along... strange dog. I should try and take some photos! I love the new sig KTB! Lil - I hope Ruby is feeling better soon! She definitely has my sympathies! Kuma - I left my car and house keys in a cab this last week! I too was lucky, the driver dropped them off to me at home the next day! I was having a bit of a freak out though because when I phoned the cab company they said they couldn't help me as they don't do lost property!!!!!! Hello to everyone else!!! Give all your doggies a big hug from Genevieve and I and I will pop back in soon! Eliza x
  24. Hi People, I am alive! I've been resting a lot, so haven't spent quite so much time on the computer! I have skimmed through the last few pages I will admit - but did check out the cute pics of sleeping but destructive puppies!!! I haven't taken any of G lately, but she did go to school on Sunday and I have been walking her (even if it is just for 10 minutes!), so she is doing ok too! I was watching her naw on the corner of the couch earlier.... I hope she doesn't try to chew on my new furniture!!!
  25. :D :D I think KTB has just founded a cure for morning sickness!!! That is a classic line! There was some good advice given there. I have been reading, just not posting much. Love the latest pics of Hoover KTB!!! And Ava, Satch and Max too! Took G for a walk this morning, we had the oval to ourselves and she was running around. She chased after a bird and was running so fast I thought she was going to lift off the ground!!! She came back to me though, when I waved the treat bag in her face!! She was asleep in her house when I left her this afternoon!
