  4. I use a plastic tool box that I bought from Bunnings for about $15. Does the trick well.
  5. I wouldn't be showing if I were not allowed to bring my puppy to a show. We got a pup and considered showing her but as we had no experience with the dog show world, we went to a few to watch, with our new puppy in tow to meet other people and their dogs and more importantly to see how it all worked etc. The breeder wasn't there or ever would be because they lived far away. At that stage, we were just "general public" Sure, we didn't have to bring the puppy along however we saw it as a good chance to socialize the dog and didn't want to leave a new puppy at home alone. Because of those few visits to dog shows, we did decide to give it a go and now love it. Am totally addicted and never has my mind been so focused on a hobby/sport as much as it is now. I think if a member of public wasn't allowed to bring an unentered dog along to a show, there would be less new exhibitors joining us (which I personally think we need more of). Like mentioned above, if some people have had bad experiences with non show dogs brought in by the public, maybe there would be good cause to display some signs or pamphlets etc with some dog show etiquette/guidelines. The few times I have seen members of the public at shows with or without dogs, they have been very polite and respectful to both exhibitors and their dogs while I have seen other exhibitors and their show dogs behave in appalling ways.
  6. We are with Medibank and so far have found them to be great. We havent had to make an illness or accident claim (and hopefully dont have to for a long long time) but we have claimed routine care (microchipping and vaccinations) under our gold plan without an issue.
  7. Thanks Ishy Sorry to take Buffy's first points away, but I was so glad to get that final Challenge for her title. I'm sure your first points aren't too far away. Thanks for the celebratory cheesecake, that was awesome So delicious! Don't be sorry!! It was great to see monkey get her last points to be titled and she deserved it! Im sure Buffy will get her first points (hopefully) soon. She better anyway lol. Glad the cheesecake was ok....am new to making baked cheesecakes.
  8. It really was fantastic to see you get your final points to gain her Championship....and shes very deserving!! Again, congratulations!!
  9. Thanks Erin! Last min events do suck! We dont know what we are going to do at this stage....we are eager to try to earn our first points finally. We will see I guess. It is going to be a hot day isn't it...that could play a part with the decision.... I dont do heat well at the moment and considering I started Chemo again today, at a higher dose than usual, it could make it a tough day out (even though its not me running around the ring)
  10. Hi, I just checked the schedule and the club have not asked for an envelope to sent along with the entries for the return of numbers. You would have to collect your numbers on the day from the secretary's office/tent. Oh sorry I should have been clearer... (I dont expect to know my number just yet! hehehe) I meant the number of entrants. I know alot of shows don't release the entrant numbers but I see some do so just wondered as it will allow me to make a more informed decision as to whether we should go or not.....we really want to go and have been looking forward to it (after going to the last one but only to watch) Basically, its the Brother in Laws birthday lunch that day (invited only today with hardly any notice) and if I know how many entries there are I can have a rough idea on when the show may be completed and if we could make the lunch in time or a little late etc.
  11. G'day, I was wondering if anyone had any numbers for the upcoming Caboolture show this coming weekend. We are entered but may not be able to attend because of another commitment that has popped up (at lunch time) so knowing some numbers (particularly group 4), we might be able to juggle both. We are/were really looking forward to our first show at Caboolture! Thanks in advance if your able to help.
  12. I personally just went with a plastic tool box....was much much cheaper than those silver grooming boxes that everyone seems to have and I like the color. It's less likely to get dented etc and if it was damaged it's cheap enough to replace! (I think it was around $18 at Bunnings) Is a good size and holds everything I need...and then some. I got the medium sized one. Has a few compartments for various things..I was suprised at how much it actually holds as I keep everything grooming related in it (even non show items) I find it easy to move around too as I dont need to be pushing/dragging a grooming box around as well as the trolley and gazebo and chairs and puppy etc. With that said, I did see large makeup/hairdressing boxes (the aluminium sort) with wheels and telescopic handles at some of those cheapo shops for around $50 to $80.
  13. It was meant to start 2 weeks ago but because of the floods its been postponed. The grounds are very wet. Even at last nights/todays show there are rings closed still. They are hoping to get it started next week however are waiting for word from the CCCQ.
  14. I haven't received my SAE back confirming my entry into this show however the cheque has been cashed so I assume I am all good to go.
  15. God I wish I could do more......just having brain surgery and being on Chemo (and not being allowed to drive atm), I cant do anything physical...I want to be out there helping my friends etc fill sandbags etc and being on a stupid pension because I cant work makes donating hard too...takes me weeks just to save $50! All I can offer is a place to stay or some dog minding. Im on the east side of Brissy, on a hill and although many roads around me are closed, theres still plenty of access....so please let me know if you need any help and if I can, I will. Am going to scrounge around and see what small money I can find to donate. I guess anything is better than nothing. Might even dip into the rent to donate some and try to make it up later on down the track. Might be able to raid the pantry too and donate some tinned food or even dog food and bones etc as the freezer is full of those. I also have plenty of camping equipment too so if anyone needs some extra shelter (Gazebos, tents) or even camping stoves and gas canisters etc, please let me know. Does anyone know if and how we would go about donating food for both humans and pets? Donating blankets and clothes where they can go directly to victims? Can anyone think of other ways we might be able to help those in need. Any other time and I would be out there and doing everything that I can. I feel so helpless towards the efforts of flood victims. Hope all my fellow QLDs are safe out there...actually I hope everyone is safe out there ...theres reports of flooding in NSW and VIC to now im told..fires in WA. E.
  16. No worries here either...used it yesterday without issue.
  17. Mine gets washed after being in the beach or pool as I dont want her coat to be slowly bleached over time.
  18. Will a Kennel Club etc cancel a show and refund exhibitors if conditions etc are just so bad or is it often the case that the show much go on no matter what?
  19. On the 2 occasions I have been there they have sold at least plush puppy. I remember looking at lots of them, amazed at the product range. I think they sold some groomers professional products too but cannot say with certainty.
  20. I see the forecast for tomorrow has been updated again from light showers to rain at times and thunderstorms. No doubt it will updated again back to light showers as it seems to be switching back and forth. Everyone still going...travel safe!! Hope you have a great, safe day!
  21. Thanks!! Im looking forward to it! (as long as all this rain and wetness clears up before then!)
  22. I just heard too that the warrego highway is closed in 2 sections...and they are saying that more rain (not just showers) is expected over the next few days. We were going to go to the show just to watch but I think we will be giving it a miss now. I dont wanna risk being stuck there! Hope everyone going has a safe journey and a great...semi dry time!!
  23. Ahhh a very good tip indeed!! We also have these little things/tubes that the guy ropes thread through and they glow in the dark also (charged by light) These would prove handy in that situation too but I would imagine these cyalume sticks would last a little longer. I know exactly what you are talking about...you often find them around before new years eve and for concerts etc. (we bought loads of them once when we had a NYE/Pool party once and threw them all in the pool....all different colors, shapes and sizes) Never thought about using them in a camping situation though! Am going to pick some up for sure! Thanks!!
