  1. Poodle (miniature)

Thanks for that, have reposted there. :)
  2. Poodle Thread

Hi everyone, I am a very new breeder of minis and I just have a question about colour matching. So far we have had black puppies out of our black stud boy and black dam. The puppies have been lovely, and healthy and I am now looking to expand our furry family by purchasing another suitable bitch. Whilst I love the blacks, I am also really interested in the reds, and would be very keen to find one to breed from. My question is, as I'm still getting my head around poodle colour genetics is red suitable for breeding with my black boy? To give you my stud's background, I have had his colour profile done and he is BB. Does this mean that any pups he sires are going to be black? Any information would be very much appreciated. Thank you. :)

  4. Poodle Thread

Hi everyone, I am a new black mini poodle breeder with 1 bitch and 1 dog. They are truly the loves of my life (only second to my husband) My question is about coat colour. I have recently had my black dog colour tested and his results came back 'BB,' indicating that is pure black and does not carry any gene for brown or yellow. I have been told by other more experienced breeders that this is very special as most black miniatures carry brown or another colour. I just wanted to get some other opinions on this, as I would like to advertise him for stud to approved bitches. Thanks :)
  5. Standing An Unshown Dog At Stud

Thanks everyone for your thoughts. I am a relatively new breeder. So just want to learn as much as I can so that I can do the right things as a breeder. His breeder (owns his mother) isn't a shower either haredown, however he has numerous champions in his pedigree, including his father. Unfortunately I don't have the benefit of a mentor in Tassie where we live and both our poodles came from breeders interstate which makes it tricky. He has only sired one litter so far, as he is only 2 y.o and I only have 1 breeding bitch. Therefore his pups are still less then 12 months old. None have been shown as they all went to family homes. I prioritise finding good loving forever homes for pups over ensuring a pup will have a show career. RallyValley you're right, and I have often thought this myself. I guess what I am seeing as Ryley's big selling point are the results from our colour coat testing. Ryley has tested genetically pure black. (BB) That is he doesn't carry any brown or yellow gene. From what I understand he may be the only dog with this pure colouring in Australia. I realise this is a HUGE call, so if anyone has more info on this I would love to know. Please correct me if I'm wrong! For breeders of blacks I'd of thought this would be pretty desirable. Thank you again for your insights. :)
  6. I was just wanting to get peoples thoughts on allowing an unshown male to stand at stud. My little man Ryley (AKA Jeabo Sparks will fly) is a beautiful boy and of course is completely health tested. He has lovely conformation and is from some very good lines. I have used him over my bitch Bobby, (aka Hillani Bobby Dazzler) and the puppies he throws are simply stunning. However, we are not really into the showing side of things, so he is untitled and I was just wanting to get peoples opinion on standing him at at stud to approved bitches, and perhaps how I would go about it considering he is not seen by other breeders in the show ring. I certainly don't want to be pushing him on to other breeders, or cold calling - Im not into that at all, just wanted to let them know he is available and may be a good possible match for their breeding bitches.
  7. Poodle Thread

Hi Everyone, I was just wondering about colouring in black miniature poodles. I have been told that all black miniature poodles in Australia carry brown. Is this true? Any help would be much appreciated. :)
  8. Poodle Thread

Hi Does anyone know why Dogzonline is not allowing new breeder listings for miniature poodles??? I am a registered breeder wanting to put my dogs on this site, but i was surprised to see this ban on toy and mini poodles. I have emailed them twice now, and have received no response. Feeling frustrated here. Any answers would be much appreciated!

Quoll is in Tas and may be able to help or guide you towards some "poodle" people down your way. Being a sticky beak here, what is your babies pedigree? Oh and pics are a must Best wishes also for a successful show career. Thanks Jag. Bobby was bred by Janet Hillier in south Australia so she is a hillani dog. (Hillani Bobby Dazzler) I have attacched a couple of pics. still figuring out how this forum works so bare with me a little. By the way thanks for the suggestion. What size poodles does Quol have? I haven't see her/him on here yet.
  10. Poodle Thread

Hi again everyone I don't know if anyone can help me, but I am really looking for some help. My little Bobby Dazzler is absolutely stunning and I am looking forward to her having what will hopfully be a very succesful show career. My bigggest problem is that I am a major begginer. I am very eager to learn everything I can about the show ring and poodle grooming, but really need a mentor or someone who would be interested in helping me that is based in Tasmania. I understand that it's a competitive world that I am entering into, but any guidance I can get would be hugely appreciated. I have books that I am reading and would be happy to answer any questions, in the hopes that someone would be able to help answer some of mine. I am also really really keen to just make some friendly contacts in the area that I can perhaps meat with to chat to about the breed. Any help would be hugely appreciated! thanks

hi all, I am on the hunt for some wahl km-2 clippers and blades. Can anyone help me? would love to find a good second hand set or am happy to buy new if I can find a good deal. Does anyone a spare set they don't use or something similar? Otherwise, where is the best place to buy new? By the way, thanks for the helpful info on finding a copy of 'the complete poodle.' I have ordered the book through amazon. :D It's taking me some time and a lot of research to get things together ready for our new pup who is coming soon. I am so excited, but have so much to learn about the poodle breeding/show world. Any free advice is greatly appreciated!

her name is Hillani Bobby Dazzler. Don't have any stories yet as she is only 9 1/2 weeks old, and we haven't quite got her yet. She is coming from a breeder in south Australia. As soon as she arrives I'm sure I will have a million naughty puppy stories. By the way jag, those photos are simply beautiful! How old is this little pup? She is a real stunner!
