  1. Hello all

We recently moved to Canberra earlier in the year and as the weather gets warmer we are looking for some camping spots where we can take the dog. I like to fit in a spot of surfing so will be looking at somewhere along the coast. Looking at the south coast (Nowra/Batemans Bay) all allocated camping spots are in the National Parks. Does anyone know of any spots that are State Forrest or otherwise that are suitable? We don't need much, just a spot to pitch the tent! - Not looking for a caravan park.

Happy to drive up to 3 hours :)

    Thanks!

  2. So my vet suggested adding some PAWS probiotic to our vizsla's diet to help with his ears. After a quick search online they don't seem to make this one anymore? She liked it as it had a certain strain.

Just wondering if anyone has a good online store (range and price) for buying these?

Also need to pick up some monthly heartworm, suggested online stores?

    Thanks!

  3. Not sure if this (or another similar article) has already been posted but hopefully you enjoy! Its a photographer from Russia who uses her children and their bond with animals as subject matter. If you head to her website there are many more.. so beautiful!

  4. No advise as such, but our boy did this with his food when he was little, wouldn't eat (after we said OK) unless we were by his side. Doesn't happen much anymore, only when he is a little under the weather or trying to be fussy (once in a blue moon) and while it is quite nice it is a little impractical. Interested to hear what others think in regards to the 'why' as its a funny little habit.

  5. This happens is so many industries, I really dont think its so bad. Aged care get it for working certain shifts, doing things that they may not like to do and it's an appreciation of doing what's needed to be done.

I really don't think it's an incentive at all!

  6. Thanks for the ideas everyone, I have contacted a few and looks like it definitely is possible, both from rescue's in the ACT and NSW!

SkySoaringMagpie: I have had the opportunity to meet a number (sadly) coming through the AWL over the last 3-4 months and have really enjoyed each and every one of them. I never really thought of a sighthound rescue, so thanks! I don't know a lot about them, other than a few breeds but would love to know more.

Thanks again everyone, just need to sort out a house that will accommodate my hopes for 2014!

  7. Hello,

We are moving to Canberra in the new year and I was looking at trying to start fostering Greyhounds. Doing a Google search there really doesn't seem to be any around that service the ACT or the surrounds.

I was wondering if anyone in here knew of any? We are happy to drive to pick up if needed as Sydney is really not that far.

    Any help would be appreciated!

  8. Hi all! We are moving to Canberra next year and want to start searching for a good, understanding vet. Looking for someone who understands abouts raw diet and will titre test for a reasonable price (our current vet charged 250 for only two tests!!).

Not fussed about location as everything is pretty close and we are still unsure about where we are going to live.

    Thanks :)

  9. Hello collective information hub!

We have a 2 1/2 year old vizsla who has been throwing up once a day for the last 3-4 days. He seems fine, eating and drinking fine and energy is OK (bit lethargic but it is cold so that is normal!). It seems to be just yellow bile with nothing else in there.

I am pretty non concerned about a little, as long as everything else is OK. He used to do it when he was younger if we missed a meal and he was hungry so not sure if that has anything to do with it, now that its winter and he is eating more?

I guess I am wondering if I should be concerned, any ideas why or what we can do to help? I was thinking back to 2 meals, or some bland food for a few days (he is currently on raw so kangaroo, beef and lamb at the present).

    Thanks!

  10. I think from reading the Titre thread the animal hospital (in Marion I think) does it for a really good cost. My vet quoted the same and I just went with it, they couldn't even do hep so I just got the other two, still around $200. Will definitely shop around next time!

  11. Hey guys, thank you everyone for replying, I have just gotten around to getting the results in a little more detail (she did not give me actual figures just where they are in the table).

Pavo was between 1-1600 so really high and definitely don't have to vaccinate.

Distemper was only 1-8, not the least amount of anti-bodies which is 1-2 but quite low.

Unfortunately my vet couldn't test for hepatitis although she said she would have expected it to come with similar results for distemper.

I understand distemper would have been lower as there are hardly any cases/chances for him to be around it. Now just not sure what to do going forward with vaccinations. The thing it to vaccinate for distemper I would have to vaccinate for pavo also as they are a combined injection.

I just know I wouldn't forgive myself if I didn't vaccinate and then something happened.

    Thoughts from the more experienced?
