  1. I have a very long memory...... Don't you work in the pet food industry anymore? I do! I manufacture natural dried treats :) lots of birdies tell me lots of things haha!
  2. I hope the family got the price they wanted and can reap the rewards of their hard work (good for them!) but I wish the new owners wouldn't fix what isn't broke. I noticed the food was different too. A birdie told me a while ago it had been sold. Thanks for confirmation.
  3. Any natural dried body parts eg.... Pigs ears, liver, chicken breast etc. stay right away from extruded products like schmackos
  4. Also, each establishment has inspections usually every 6 months. It's fairly strict too. If products are supplied to woolworths ANOTHER standard is added, called WQA. Th Coles standard is called SQF. Hope this helps. I used to work in the industry.
  5. All pet food/treats must comply with HACCP regulations and PRIMESAFE. There is no specific pet food standard but all must follow the above which is also the standards for human consumption meat. It's been in action for many years :)
  6. Hi Jules! I am not a rep, i am a part owner of Hungry Hound, the formula is exclusive to us, no one else is able to reproduce it without our consent if you have questions please bombard me! Im happy to answer, we are wholesalers, so we do not see the consumer to be able to answer questions.
  7. APFE dont make it but APFE DID develop the formula for it and it is exclusive, it is manufactured in NSW and distributed by Hungry Hound, we have received no complaints so far, so this is a great way of seeing what consumers want and provides us with feedback to improve this product for the dogs we all love!
  8. I actually am a part owner of the company, i helpt to develop the formula so i know exactly where it comes from
  9. I feel the same way. I like to make educated and informed decisions and don't just consider how well the dog does on it, but who manufactures a product, where it's made etc. There are other foods that I won't use because of who makes them, where they are made or who distributes them. I'd like to know Black Hawk is manufactured in Australia, it is an exclusive formula, kept in plain packaging to keep costs low so that its affordable for all.
  10. Pigs Ears are air dried! Never never fried, i am a manufacturer, they would rot in 2 days if they were fried.
  11. Dried bones are not similar to cooked bones. Cooked bones are cooked at high temps very quickly which makes bone brittle. The dried bones that we manufacture are slow cooked over a period of 40hours at low temperatures which keeps most nutrients in the meat and stops the bone splintering. I have done this for 10 years and never received a complaint about bones splintering or injuring an animal.
  12. The dry food is completely manufactured in Australia, the product is in a plain bag because it keeps costs down so that all people can afford it, it is in no way inferior because it is in a plain bag, the formula is exclusive and can not be copied in any way. Hope this helps.
