  1. http://www.dabewsminiaturebullterriers.com/terrinfo4.html The last line explains it
  2. I think my dogs would play in the compost if I let had one!!
  3. Lend the puppy pen to the neighbour for the swf. They wouldn't need to let him inside and he could be kept away from your fenceline??
  4. I think you will find all rural Aussies hav a couple of guns especially stock farmers. No way I'd give a dingo a warning shot so it or they could run off and harass someone elses stock or come back to mine at night. Bigdog didn't know they were pets... First thought dingo attacking stock second thought gun. It's just the way things are.
  5. Interesting request! May I ask what you are going to do with it and what if any breed you are looking for?
  6. My boy is also a great contender! Thought it would be ok to leave a 16wk old puppy in the bathroom/laundry while I went to pick kids up from school. He ripped the door frame off and chewed and scratched his way through the door! Serves me right for putting him in there bathroom door has since been replaced!
  7. Spoken to Sally this morning. First day phones have been back on. With no access to petstock store the animals are desperate for food. IAMs have made a huge donation of dog food but cat and kitten food is desperate. If you can help please do!
  8. My mums beagle likes everyone ?? I don't know enough about breeds to say it's small enough or the right match though??
  9. I guess u could post to me? Or straight to happy paws either way. I can pm u my address...
  10. I will be in hornsby Monday evening if sydney people want to help out! Just putting it out there my hubby and I are heading north to the Clarence valley area and Grafton quite possibly further. We will now be leaving next Wednesday 19th from newcastle area. We are taking our 4wd and possibly camper trailer. Will be staying at Happy paws haven in Grafton who also need donations of food blankets to help take on this huge challenge and influx of dogs and cats. No doubt we will be doing alot of bathing and possible cleaning up of wounds etc... If you have absolutely anything we can take with us along with the extra toys towels blankets and food we have bought it would be greatly appreciated and much needed. Also if anyone wants to meet me and take stuff further north to Queensland it's more than welcome! I've already spent $500 at petstock today eek!
  11. Wow I have read alot of this thread and admit I don't know alot about training and natural behaviors it's all still learning to me but how can people say "don't have a small dog"'or "a big dog would be a safer bet"'people like what they like you can't expect my mother to own the same dog I do. It's just stupid. Given my English mastiff x dane has been raised with all smaller dogs I can't say how he would react out alone approaching smaller dogs. The small dogs might nip him where he hasn't been nipped before. I guarantee he would approach them and scare the hell out of the owner and perhaps small dog to. And I wouldn't blame people for being scared. His not a little dog. But I don't know what he would be like without me there to correct him. The same would go if he did come across a huge dog. I don't know how he would react I don't think he would approach a big dog as he was attacked at 16wks and isn't a fan of other big dogs. But I just don't know. His scared when I'm with him but maybe it's because I'm there to protect him and he thrives on keeping me happy. If he was alone I dare say he would be scared but have nobody to hide behind. I have no idea what so ever how he would be without me around. The minute anything larger than a labrador approaches him at the beach he runs back to me. But happily plays with dogs smaller than my mums beagle... If council let him out while I was at work and did nothing I'd be fuming. But if I knew of the fencing damage and he got out I'd be fuming at myself. I also read somebody said leaving two huskies alone in a yard all day isn't smart? Where else would you leave them? I certainly wouldnt give them free range of the house for 10hrs..
  12. I think jerojath got it in one. It's the law of the land.. How much stock are you expected to lose trying to catch them? Or risk yourself being seriously injured if u get in the way of a wild dog and it's meal? Don't look back now what's happened has happened and maybe now after 3 tragic deaths they will be a little more careful with their pets. I'd expect nothing less from my father in law and uncles who are all on property. The turkey to them would be like someone taking $50 from them.
  13. I also looked up ridge backs what a beautiful dog! See so many breeds I just didn't think of or know of!
  14. I actually just found a weimerarner site during my internet travels! They seem pretty perfect! No offense to the rotties I don't like black and tan dogs just fussy! If they came in red Or blue I'd consider!!
  15. Can everyone post this message everywhere!!. I have available Yards Stables for people not knowing where to take there horses. I have enough room to take 15 to 20 horse I'm at Caboolture. ******** pass on my phone No. 0418385774 if anyone needs emergency accommodation for there horses
  16. Oh and I took the normal door off the playroom and put a screen security door there so I can always see the little buggers!
  17. I'll take a photo of our bathroom/laundry later. I opted to combine these rooms and have a door installed the dogs can then get washed dried and let straight out the door to the sunshine without running through the house. The internal door to the bathroom also locks so I can leave the external door open for the dogs to access the bathroom for safety/shelter if nobody is home without to much risk of being broken in to. What i don't like! I don't have a door for the hallway to the bedrooms although bedroom doors can be shut I can't shut off the dogs from down there. They don't really have a reason to go down there though. And I have a wide open plan kitchen sometimes when cooking I'd like the dogs to stay in the dining room and not be under my feet. I also opted to have the 4th bedroom tiled for the kids playroom but thinking of it most likely will be another room for dog or if I'm lucky a cat when the kids grow out of having a playroom!
  18. The giant old English mastiff is his personality to a tee! His father was a pure English mastiff and his mum a harlequin Dane. I guess I could have two giants! I was sort of wanting something between sizes. That would be more playful than the lazy old mastiff!
  19. Can someone link me to more information on the Italian spinone? I'd wait if it was the right match! I just can't seem to bring up alot about them..
  20. My boy is pretty relaxed. I like the red poodles my neighbour has black/blue? Not sure of the real name! It would be interesting watching my boy play zoomies with a whippet..
  21. Will the whippet be safe to play with the big boy though? I actually like standard poodles lol. A neighbour has two and they r gorgeous!
  22. Id like a puppy not an adult.. I have the 6 week break over Xmas so would like to bring a puppy home. I just can't decide what would be perfect I'm so fussy...
