  1. Hi! I would also suggest an elimination diet (although it looks like you have figured out the culprit anyway). I would disagree with most of the others though in that most food allergies are to a protein source - ie. chicken, salmon, lamb etc..... Think the wheat/corn etc thing is an extrapolation from humans..... Glad your pup is feeling better!
  2. Yep, Staranais is correct - the X-Rays themselves belong to the Vet. Most Vets will let you take them for a referral though if you promise to bring them back! Some Vets are able to make copies for you to have (but not all have the facilities to do this). My advice would be to ask nicely and promise you will bring them back!
  3. Hi Bonnie22, If you are trying any of the Super-Premiums (Nutrience, Hills, Eukanuba, Royal Canin, Proplan etc), they all have a 100% money back guarantee. Just keep the receipt and take the unused portion back to the store for a refund!
  4. This thread is about an excellent quality locally australian made food, so Im not sure I understand your post?? Did I miss something?? Can't say if you missed anything (but I'm hoping I missed your friendly tone as I can't see it................I never commented on the quality of this food so unsure why your comment was necessary??). I think that while this thread may have been initiated about Black Hawk, alot of issues have been covered including the transparency expected by consumers. My comment was meant to reflect that it shouldn't be hard for a manufacturer or distributor to say where their ingredients are from. In fact, Sherel has stated that she believes in this product wholeheartedly (as she should if she sells it!) and I would think that based on that, it shouldn't be hard to answer people's questions. At any rate, I think she WILL answer them - she has just asked for patience. I will never understand why people think it is OK to attack people, businesses or products on the internet when they wouldn't do it face to face. Cheers.
  5. hey all  Wow, heated discussion! Just my 2c.... Any pet food that has been imported requires a permit and on that permit paperwork should be the source of all ingredients included so it shouldn't be too difficult to answer (although contacting the company directly would be the best way to go - I can't believe some of the nonsense I read online!!)... Cheers.
  6. If the antibiotic is the cause of the diarrhoea, see your vet and get a different antibiotic! Some antibiotics may cause side effects such as this
  7. Hey all Stormie has given you good advice. I would just like to add that if you are wanting to get to the bottom of the problem, you will need to be committed! Treating skin issues is one of the most frustrating things as a vet and the biggest problem is usually that the owners are not committed. You need to be completely honest with your vet and follow very specific instructions to the letter to get a good diagnosis. Atopy and Food allergy would be top of my list for this pattern of itching. Also, please do not give your dog two tablets for fleas (spectrum and comfortis). All of the big name flea products are effective if you use them correctly - ie. treat all pets in the household EVERY month. Treat the environment (most of the flea life cycle takes place off the animal!). If using a spot on, do not wash 24-48 hours either side of application. Most of the companies have a number you can call - and some will even come out to your house! I think someone also said that if your dog is allergic, one bite from one flea will affect them - this is true! Mange - may be generalised but can also be subclinical and is another good differential to rule out! As an aside, it is correct that fleas are species specific as are most parasites. However, this doesn't mean that they can't afffect a species they are not specific to. Fleas can bite (and affect) pretty much any species. They do however, require their specific host species to complete their life cycle. Hope that helps! PS> Canine food allergies are usually to a specific protein eg chicken, beef etc. so choose a food with a single protein that you haven't fed before and a single carbohydrate source if you are going to try an elimination diet - and you will need to feed only that for at least 8 weeks!
  8. Nutrience Derma has lamb as the sole protein source and rice as the carb
