  1. I knew I shouldn't have asked... YOU have known of this dog's illness for some time now. YOU keep saying you would like to help her, but you have not done anything. Out of everyone on this forum, YOU are the only one in any position to do something. Help this dog now!! If you don't, YOU should feel just as responsible as your sister for neglecting this poor dog.
  2. Can we get an update on this dog's progress? It has been two weeks since the original post, so I would expect that after so much advice has been given the dog has had a vet check and is putting on weight. I'm asking because I find this thread quite disturbing.
  3. Probably not the best advice. I have a weatherbeeta coat (extensively modified by me) which i only use on my boy in warmer months. They are a big square shape, like a horse blanket, and quite stiff, so don't fit the curves of whippets (see Mumtoshelley's pic). Besides not covering the rear end, there is no covering under the chest. I would think in the ACT your dog would need as much protection from the cold as he can get. My guy has 2 whippetwear coats which keep him warm on camping trips, as well as day-to day. He has peed on them at times, but I would rather that than a cold whippet. Good luck in sorting your coat issues. :)
  4. Oohh, thanks for the heads-up. That's a great price! I'll be getting one for my boy.
  5. I've sent a small donation, and my whippy boy sends his love. Thanks for giving them a second chance.
  6. I'm thinking we might come along on Sunday (weather dependent) and I think Rory would be up for a run. I was wondering can beginners run? Is it BYO muzzle? (I don't have one, and would love any suggestions as to where to get one). And is there an age requirement? Rory is now 16 mths, and raring to go! If he can't run, we will probably still pop down to marvel at all the other lovely whippys. :)
  7. You can tell I'm becomming obsessed with sighthounds- 1. Borzoi (yep, another admirer!) 2. Silken Windhound 3. Greyhound (gotta love a grey!) 4. Saluki 5. and from out of left field.... a Finnish Lapphund!! (my current hairy dream dog)
  8. I would check with Parks Victoria before heading off to a National park. If I recall correctly, dogs are not allowed in National Parks, but are allowed in some State Parks, Regional Parks and Coastal Parks (I'm not sure of the differences between them).
  9. Well, I'm a bit annoyed at good ol' Melbourne City Council now. I thought we would only hear distant fireworks from the city, but nearly died when we had 10 mins of official fireworks almost overhead!! Yep, they're loud!! There was no mention of this on the council website, I checked earlier. Luckily the little guy is pretty stoic, but this really tested him (and me). I'm not impressed. BTW Happy New Year!
