  1. Yes it is beautiful - I was inspired by a student I taught.
  2. THanks for this - I'm STILL looking for a raincoat. Can't seem to find anyone with a golden who can advise me on a size so maybe I'm alone here in looking for a raincoat. How many posts do I need to be able to look at the marketplace?
  3. We have a 6 month old Golden Retriever that we crate trained from the day we got her. She sleeps in it at night and I use it to keep her in if I have to go out for a small errand. We also use it if we have people over and she is jumping all over them (like my mother). Also whilst we are eating our dinner in front of the TV (blush), she goes into the crate so she is not putting her nose into our food the whole time. She just goes in and plops herself down to sleep until we let her out. If we eat at the table, we do not crate her. It works really well for us and I really do like having the option there.
  4. HI there, We are considering taking out pet insurance. I've looked at a few and liked how Medibank Private have a no excess option. Our pup has been diagnosed with HD so that obviously won't be covered but we have decided to manage it as she doesn't have any problems with it so far (so no surgery at this stage). I guess I'm thinking about all the other things that do come up. What do you think? Worth it? The premium I would have to pay would be $451 per year which of course would go up as she got older. If you have Medibank Private Pet Insurance - how have they been with claims? Any thoughts from those who do NOT have pet insurance? Just wanted to add that we would only take it out for our dog. Cat is 7 years old and really hasn't caused us a days trouble. I think I've spent more on our dog in the 4 months she has been with us than on my cat in her whole 7 years.
  5. I was wondering if there is anyone out there with a Goldie who can advise me. We are looking at getting our 6 month old Golden a Snooza Cuddler. On the website it suggests that a "retreiver" would use the large size but I am wondering if anyone who has actually bought one can tell me which size is best. Our Zali likes to curl up in her little cat bed that has now flattened out because she is WAY too big for it. When she lies on the floor she stretches out so it's hard to guess, but I do find that she seeks out her little bed to curl up into. In winter I'm guessing she'll go for that, and in summer it might be stretched out on the tiles. The large is 95cm wide with the inside circle being a 60cm diameter. The XL is 110cm wide with the inside circle being a 70cm diameter. We don't have alot of space so I'm kind of leaning toward the smaller one but would love to hear from others who have either size and what they think would work for us. Thanks a bunch!
  6. Just wondering if anyone has bought a raincoat that they think is worth recommending. I've seen lots of styles online but it's really hard to know what to be sure of. Zali is just under 6 months old but she is already pretty big so I thought it best to get her something that would fit a full sized female Golden and just pull it in a little for now. If you can give me a storename or even better, a link, I would be grateful. I have looked at dollar stores but their larges seem to be for small breeds as far as I can tell. Thanks!
  7. Hi Ness, How do they wash? Do you throw the whole thing in or do you remove a cover?
  8. Thanks for the tip. Is that the Island Bed (more rectangular) or the Oasis Bed (oval shaped)? And when you say you bought the large, do you mean the largest size ie. extra large? That's the one they recommend for Goldens on the site for the Island bed.
  9. I actually thought about adding a cot bumper to the sides of the crate to give it that "feel". She just doesn't go in there unless I put her in there so if I were to leave the door open, she simply wouldn't go in. She would rather sprawl out on the tiles.
  10. Hello, We have a 5 month old Golden Retriever that has definitely outgrown the cat bed she still manages to curl herself up in. It's quite sweet to see but with half her body hanging over the sides it's time for a new bed. At the moment she has a crate with a Snooza Futon inside it that we put her in at night. It sits in the living room. She is getting to the stage where I think I can trust her to be outside the crate at night and so we might move the crate to the spare room instead. I think she really likes high sides to lean against and curl up in. Her crate is open all day but she chooses to use the cat bed when she has a choice during the day. We also have one of those trampoline style raised beds that she uses when she is outside. We did purchase the Bono Fido waterproof bed which was great but it has these little snaps to keep the cushion in place and we only had it for one evening and one came off. This got me a little worried that the others might do the same and could be a choking hazard. Of course they could just be cut off but before I go back and buy another, does anyone have a suggestion for what they consider to be the perfect dog bed? Thanks in advance
