  1. I really let myself down coming back to dol. But there were photos I wanted to share with people. I did that yesterday. No more to say at the moment. Sitting here is just going to make me paranoid about every little thing I type.
  2. 'seph has probably gone into hiding now
  3. I just got up and am already tired . Not overly interested in debating use of words or how they come across or what people really meant or whether I wrongly used capitals. Actually Ash, I didn't say that *you* said, it was a general comment. The purist comments and gossip started long before you mentioned it in this thread so you can relax.
  4. Capitals is my way of bolding, not yelling
  5. I didn't know Jenny had a superiority complex and I didn't know I was a purist - you learn all kinds of stuff via dol
  6. Ash, like one of the quotes from "Best in Show" (the movie) youre just going to have to let this one go
  7. Maybe Rubiton is happy with the results she is getting now (and her system) and if it aint broke why fix it?? Having shot horse events before I understand where she is coming from and having seen her work I know its good. Most dog EVENTS I will shoot in jpeg for the simple fact that the file sizes are smaller to deal with and store. Plus the fact that MOST dog people will only want something smallish with minor mods to put on a website, dogzonline profile etc. Jpegs are fine for that. If its a special shoot for ad layouts or art (or where I KNOW more use will be made of the images) then I shoot in both RAW and jpeg.
  8. Given that the questions were: Do you routinely edit images post -camera? How much editing do you do? Do you regularly rely on editing? I don't think the OP is really talking about lab involvement here.
  9. Everything I keep/use, I edit. Sometimes that entails just a crop or resize. Graphic design/photo art involves more extensive editing in PS and vector programs. Oh my lord I am not a purist
  10. Why not just download something like Picasa (free and legal and looks pretty good to me) and then you don't have to worry about legalities. http://picasa.google.com.au/ Photoshop is not the only image editing program on the planet. There is also a cut down/cheaper version of Photoshop called Photoshop Elements. eta link
  11. Another thought. Not sure if you can still get them but you used to be able to get filters (Cokin etc) that would create different effects - including vignettes/masks, sunsets, star bursts, diffusers etc.
  12. Many ways to skin a cat - so they say. Darkened edges or areas could be achieved by vignetting or 'burning'.
  13. Sorry not sure how burley is made these days but when my grandparents talked about it I am sure they just used bits of fish, squid and fish guts etc all pretty natural. I have been out on boats and gotten quite close to seals and cormorants etc. Anything over 200mm was overkill then.
  14. Well the 70-200 might be ok for the pelagic if they chuck burley And a cheaper lens to replace if you drop it overboard
