  1. Just wanted to add to this; my rescue dog came with chip details and only by chance I found out it was faulty (had him over a year before I found out). I asked at my vet and they confirmed the faulty Virbac chips and if I wanted him re-chipped for free, I had to go back to vet who did the original one. As this wasn't an option (too far in hot car!) I got it done again with them. Wasn't a problem for me to pay again, but unknowingly not having him chipped all that time was concerning. Paranoia now sees me asking chip to be checked every vet visit :D
  2. Hi Just searching for something for my 16+ yo dog's teeth which are getting quite bad (but the vet doesn't recommend doing anything at her age/probs with blood?) ANyway, was looking to get the Petzlife oral gel or spray plus the plaque off. I notice the WA supplier for the Petzlife no longer stocks it and I wonder which of the others from the Australian Petzlife site stock this and the Plaque off? Only a couple had web sites and I couldn't see it mentioned on them. Does anyone know where in Aus I can buy both? Oh, I've been using dentastix for years and no difference. Also raw bones, but need something more now! Many thanks for your help
  3. Many thanks for your replies (and I love the jumper on your little guy Rosie!!). Will look at all things plastic. Cheers!
  4. Hi RubyStar Having just bought a Territory, and deciding an extra gate would be a good idea till some training could be implemented, could you let me know where you got this work done? Was it in Perth? I've already got a cargo barrier (one of the things I was looking for!). I like hime being able to move around in the back, but he chews through everything, so by the time we get somewhere, it's kind of hard to open the back up! Thanks for your help and input.
  5. Me too, meh! Nothing back from the shelter in reply to my letters, so I shall direct my energies into training him. Skip, I would be out of my mind if I had that to cope with, but pleased to hear all ended well; I know it will in our case too with the help of our behaviourist. Sometimes it looks like one step forward and three back, but I am learning from my mistakes!!
  6. Thanks for your reply. Apparently he didn't get on well with the other dog in foster care home and was apparently taken to dog parks and the dog beach with no problems off lead. Anyway, we are, hopefully, getting there with him and will do all to make him comfortable and at home here. Such an upheaval, I know I wouldn't cope :-)
  7. Thanks I do intend to do that; I did send them a quick email telling them I had to get help with his aggression problems. He was in foster care for about 4 months with no apparent problems and, indeed, their web page says he gets on well with other dogs!!
  8. Hello everyone Just read through this thread as I got a JRT x a few weeks ago from shelter with similar problems (I posted and got some great replies re behaviourist and we've had our first visit from Danielle). But I must confess I am upset, frustrated and a bit disappointed the shelter never mentioned any of his issues at all. I felt the last few days so upset that I don't appear to be coping; had I known about his agression (particularly, I think the others issues can be fixed, but everything together overwhelms me), I would not have taken him for fear of problems with my other dog (fortunately there has only been a few issues there). Just wanted to add my 2c in re being upfront about rehoming dogs. We'll continue working with him and see how he goes; I guess it's early days yet! Regards
  9. Hi Do you have Danielle's details; the number I got from the net didn't work and Kathy's not available till 31 March! Thanks
  10. Hi thanks for quick reply; I'm in Vic Park. I'm sure I've used Kathy years ago. I see she has an intensive agression workshop in a few weeks, but I wanted to get something now, so I might giver her a call. Will look at Danielle too. Many thanks again.
  11. Hello All I just jot a Jack Russell from a shelter and he has been great the first week (with a few issues that I could cope with) but now he is displaying agression towards other dogs (bigger ones; surprise!) and occassionally to my other dog and me (no biting but I have to admit I'm a bit nervous). He is usually a complete sweetheart, but this is a bit concerning as I don't know what to do; and it shows and I panic and it affects him more. The training classes near me are either full/already started, so rather than wait till the next sessions, I'd really like to get something done asap. Hope someone can offer up advice. There is absolutely no way he's leaving us, so I need training Thanks
  12. many thanks for responses; I was woried it may be a sticking point as it was with a previous vet practice. Regards
  13. Hello people I am looking at rescuing another dog and am wondering about the question regards vaccination (my dog is nearly15 and the vets do titre tests and recommend triennial vac) but the shelter seems to want annual vacs; can anyone help how I may respond to this? I am happy to vaccinate annually but wonder if that would be a sticking point with the shelter? Many thanks for input Myjoe
