  1. I haven't posted on here in a very long time but this is the first place I thought of. My 19yo son lives and works in Sydney and now - 18 months down the track - the excitement of living in a city and sampling the nightlife etc has worn off. He really misses contact with animals - dogs in particular. He has also realised that I (his mother, who generally knows very little) was actually right (amazing!) and he does need a life outside the army. He's a country kid who has always had pets (large and small) and he would love to volunteer to help excercise some 4 legged friends. Of course, his job means that he can't always be there on a given day or time usually he would know this and be able to plan, but sometimes things are sprung on them and they don't always get the time to let people know (not often but it does happen). He is based at Holsworthy and does have his own transport. Does anyone have suggestions of where he might go to offer his services - or perhaps there is someone on here who may need a hand.
  2. RIP Roggie. You were a beautiful boy
  3. You appeared fine when we left you this morning. We did not expect to come home and find you had gone to the Rainbow Bridge. Ava will miss you too even though you were so often mean to her. She doesn't know what to do with herself tonight without you to eat her dinner and kick her off her bed (and then graciously allow her back on to share)
  4. She was a good age. RIP little Ewok. Carebear, sometimes it is hard to know when to say enough is enough. Our old Shortaired pointer was almost blind, pretty deaf and could only walk the distance of one lamp post to another when he used to run 8km and then chase emus. Each day I would hope that I would find he had died in our yard and then we wouldn't have to decide. Anyway, he didn't. The day my husband took him to the vet the Thor was so happy, his tail was wagging and he had a big smile on his face, he didn't know he wouldn't be coming home and I felt so guilty. It was worse because they had to give him two doses of sleepy stuff - then I felt that we had sold him short. He wasn't ready to go yet and we made our call too early. Yet our old dobie was ready and though sad, we knew we had done the right thing.
  5. Lovely sentiment Bommy. They never really leave us do they? I know, because sometimes I have heard our old boys bark - just one bark - but it is theirs.
  6. Poor little Jake. Very sad for the family too. Only good things to play with where he is now. RIP Jake
  7. Does it matter if you don't have a photo? For those few of us who don't have digitals?
  8. Sorry to hear of little JJ - thinking of you (I love ferrets)
  9. We had a shorthaired and an irish setter who pulled washing off the line (on different occasions). We had to catch them in the act - it didn't happen anymore although after catching him the shorthaired would ocassionally do it if he thought he wasn't getting the right amount of attention.
  10. Really sorry to read of the passing of your bunny. Its hard at any time but especially when they are young.
