  1. Wow, sems this is a bowerbird kind of mentality some dogs feel inclined to do.

Well we caught the pup last night...he would wait on a stepping stone, sniff around and then gingerly grab a chosen pebble and take it into the house. Then come back out on the stepping stone and repeat. Lol.

Going to try and start some obedience training to "leave it!"

I have a Snail Collector. He is very sneaky. I find little piles of bodies...denuded of their shells

Does he eat the snails?! I thought they were poisonous, though I wouldn't be surprised if a canine's acidic digestive system is able to cope. :p

Apparently the shells are the best bit. I don't think snails are poisonous but could carry disease? I'm not letting him know that the French eat them with garlic butter

  2. My partner sat at his desk one morning to find around a dozen large pebbles gathered under his desk. As we don't have kids/ other pets and I don't sleepwalk and gather pebbles in my sleep, we believe its our 3 month old puppy.

We've only seen him play with them and pick them up gently once or twice with his mouth but not take them anywhere when we're around...amused as we are, I know its dangerous and its a possiblitiy he could swallow one (though they are pretty huge pebbles).

Any help with training him to leave them alone? Would we have to catch him in the act? Anyone experienced similar "gathering" behaviours" from their dog? :D

I'm hoping to benefit from any advice you receive ;)

  3. Getting Bruno accustomed to traffic that way worked for us but there may be better ways?

I'm only a newbie on here and not really experienced enough to give any advice :o BUT maybe you could post the question about growling at people while on lead in the Puppy or Training/Obedience threads? There are plenty of qualified and /more experienced people on DOL who might see it there. Good luck with him, he is lovely :)

  4. Aww thank you for the lovely comments! his daddy and myself are very proud of our little devil in an angel body :p

he absolutely LOVES socks! he's slowly learning they arn't to be played with... silly boy.

He goes to puppy school every Friday but while walking him recently (we go around the block which takes 10 minutes, only very short walks while he's young)

But he seems to be SOOOOO scared of cars?! We will bring it up on Friday when we go again because he only did it yesterday while walking. Don't want him scared but need to show him cars arn't scary things since we are moving on saturday and we will be living on a main road so we can't risk a fully grown bullmastiff scared of cars..

Frank is absolutely gorgeous! My boxer pup was startled by a noisy bus pulling up alongside us on one of our first walks. We spent some time on lead a fair way back from the road just sitting and watching traffic pass by. Gradually we moved closer over several sessions. He is unfazed by traffic now. Joggers and cyclists are another story

  5. O.K so I gave up on the Grain Free version, as his stools weren't improving still half good half sloppy, so I swaped it over for the fish one.

But I'm hoping someone can help me but confirming something for me. Do I just swap over without using any of the GF formula, as he already has an upset tummy, or do I still use it to gradually change over. The store I bought it off said, stop the GF all together, and just use the new one. I can sort of see why I should do this, but just want to make sure.

Do I add some canned natures gift to the new one if I just use it on it's own? which is what I was doing to the GF to help solidify his poos, well that an cutting back the amount, which worked.

Any help would be great, thanks.

I'm certainly no expert however I have got a dog with tummy issues. I am still working out what food my dog can tolerate but adding a spoonful of cooked mashed pumpkin to each meal has really helped him. He's gone from nasty diahorrea to fairly normal poos. Hopefully someone much wiser than me can advise you about stopping the GF or gradually changing over  Good luck!
