  1. With his mummy, Rosie at 6.5 weeks and 4 week weigh in!
  2. Paddy Update :D Well only 2 weeks tomorrow and our family will be complete. Found out this week he has an undershot jaw but you know what they say 'a diamond with a flaw is worth more than a pebble without imperfection'. Got some more pics tonight. Have sore eyes from reading too much about training and desexing and immunisations and socialising etc etc etc!!!! Paddy will be 7 weeks on Sunday ;)
  3. Hi All, Thanks for the replies. It was definitely the costs on the desexing, not council rego. I have two vets to choose from one in Alice Springs, (11 hours away) or one in Kununurra (9 hours away). The first one I asked was Alice Springs as I did not realise Kununurra was so close and my 3 kidlets board there in Alice. So I have rang Kununurra and they do not recommend getting a female done till after 7 months and a male till after 9 months. They are happy for me to wait 12 months and have no idea why Alice Springs told me what they did. I think it was like someone mentioned: for the average Jo who may let their dogs have too many litters. So I am happy with this now and have already booked my 2nd lot of vac's with them. As to the undershot jaw, I am not sure of the gap. Will have to ask the breeder when I pick him up (only 15 days and 3500kms to go!!!!) The pup still needs a home and he is already a part of the family even though he is not here, so we are happy to care for him and take on board any costs involved. I am adding some pics...... I cant even tell that he has something wrong, he is toooooo adorable!!! Cheers, Laura.

    Desexing

Hi Again All, Just looking for advice. We are getting a labrador retriever in 2.5 weeks and I have just rang the vet to organise his 2nd lots of vac's. When asked if he was desexed I replied that I would wait until about 12 months on the advice of his breeder and her vet. Now my vet said to me there is a new law or policy (not 100% which one she said) that if you do not get your pup desexed before 5 months it will cost double. Now I am not worried about the cost at all. I just want to know what the best time is for the health and well being of our beloved pup, Paddy!!!! Also, the breeder has just let me know he has an undershot jaw..... has anyone had any experience with this??? We are not showing him, so not concerned about that just if there is anything extra we need to do to keep him safe and healthy. Looking forward to your replies, Laura
  5. Oh no, what a sad day! I have just sat down with my kidlets and OH and discussed all your comments and we have decided (also after searching literature on the internet) that it will be in the puppys best interest to only have one. How will we decide????
  6. Thanks, for the advice so far. Am definitely taking everything into consideration. Laura.
  7. Hi All I am new here and just have a few questions. We are about to go on holiday (at Cabarita Beach) and while we are there we are picking up our two baby boys (Paddy a yellow boy is 4 weeks in this pic and Roland a big black boy this is his pic from Good Friday) from Warramundi Labradors in NSW. The two pics are from Emily the breeder, they are so adorable!!! We will be picking them up at around 8/9 weeks and I was just wondering about a couple of things: We start our new job in a community called Balgo Hills on June the 6th and we were thinking instead of driving straight home (3100kms), we would travel up and around through Cairns, Darwin, Kununurra, Broome and then home (230kms from Halls Creek). Does anyone have any advice on whether it will be ok to start our lives with the puppies on the road for 10-14 days, or should we just bee line it straight home and start training? The next question when is the best time to get your puppies desexed? Toadie our CKCS (who crossed the rainbow bridge at the age of 13) was an entire male and peed EVERYWHERE so we are definitely going to get the boys done as soon as it is safe. Thirdly, will we have to feed the boys at different times or will they be ok to be fed together? Has anyone raised and trained two brothers at the same time? Any info would be awesome. We are getting two pups at the same time as we have a very active lifestyle with 3 kids (aged 11, 12 and 13) and live in a VERY remote area and need the companionship while the kids are in boarding school in Alice Springs. Thanks for any advice in advance, Laura. PS. Any advice on which size Furminator to get while the puppies are still young? Also any good online dog supply shops you would recommend. PPS. I don't ask for much do I!!!!!!!
