  1. Thanks guys for all your advice so far. Wilbur knows basic commands like sit, drop, wait and stay. We do reinforce it at meal time and also when we play with him. He can also do tricks like roll, dance and beg. We usually leave stuffed Kong or food cube for him before we leave for work. He has doggy door to go in and out as he please. He has never destroyed anything inside or outside the house. His daddy takes him for a short walk as soon as he gets home. I normally take him on the weekend for a long walk. He is very good with human -- its just all other doggies that he is having problem with.
  2. Hi Everyone, We've moved to Melbourne from Canberra 2 years ago and my Maltese X Shihtsu is going from bad to worse. He used to go to obedience training in Canberra and used to socialise well with other dogs. But since we've mobed to Melbourne, I work longer hours and my baby is left homealone most of the day. Recently I notice that Wilbur barks and growl at every dogs he encounters when we go walkies. If other dogs come closer to him, he would make scary noise as if he was about to rip that dog apart I figure that it's because he doesn't get enough socialisation with other dogs. Should I start him on obedience training again? I don't want him to cause problems to other dogs in the class though. Any advice please -- Thanks in advance.
  3. Ummm - - I have something to confess - - I use Advance Kitten dry food to reward my puppy I know that we're not supposed to feed the puppy kitten food - - but really - - it's really hard to keep my puppy away from my kitten's food bowl - - When we started using kitten food to help with the training - - Wilbur was looking forward to the training instead of Charlie's feeding time He seems to be ok - - his poops not smelly - - not runny Is it ok to keep using kitten food? He only gets it for the training though (and very small amount - - I swear)
  4. Thanks heaps everyone - - Wilbur will definitely get a haircut this weekend He did look real uncomfy while we were out in the backyard yesterday - - panting and puffing - - All the doggies with summer hair styles look awsome !!!! Any recommendation for dog groomer in ACT? I don't wanna risk trying it myself - - it was hard enough trying to keep his hair out of his eyes using hair gel
  5. Hi everyone, I've been browsing Dogzonline for half a year and have got lots of wonderful tips and suggestion from here. It's certainly the most useful dog discussion forum !!!This actually is the first time that I cannot find any existing discussion about what I want to know. I'm owned by a 5 months old Maltese X Shih Tzu boy. He is an extremely cute fluffy fur ball. Since summer is approaching - - the weather is getting warmer - - his white fluffy fur now seems to be too thick !!!! I come home and find him spend most of his time sitting on the kitchen floor (tiled) next to the clay pot filled with ice. I reckon he does need a hair cut. My boyfriend, however, prefers to see Wilbur grow his fur long and become a mop. Question is . . . Should I give him a clip? and if so ... what sort of hair styles are available and suitable for a long coat pooch like him? ... am trying to google for doggie hairstyle but so far... no luck . How does everyone else, who has long coat doggie like mine handle the hot weather? To clip, or not to clip? Help please !!!!! Thanks in advance
