  2. Thanks for all the replies, It's got me thinking is there something that just caters to ticks? I too dont think its a good idea to over medicate in regards to the fleas, but if I could keep using advocate and then use something just for ticks, I worry about ear mites with Stevie and she has had demodectic mange in the past.
  3. Stevie is a Pug, what exactly would be different in using advantix instead of advocate in that regard? she has never had a problem with advocate?
  4. we will be moving within the next fortnight to the coast from the country and I have spent months trying to decide what to replace my use of Advocate with so that Stevie is also covered for ticks. This research has been hard but I think that I have finally decided that I'd like to use Advantix for the fleas and ticks, Drontal as an All-wormer and a monthly tablet (valuheart) for heartworm rahter then a yearly injection. was just curious to know what everyone else uses. P.S. I really wish Advocate catered to Ticks!
  5. We only have one dog but we got the inspiration for her name from other dogs in the family, my dad's dogs name is Missy and she is often called Missy Higgins by us all, my sisters dog is Robbie who we always refer to as robbie williams so when it came to naming our girl we had to go with the music biz also and named her Stevie after Stevie Nicks. Planning a second dog and I am quite keen on Florence as in Florence and the machines but we'll see lol :D
  6. Kinda off topic but my dogs name is Stevie too lol your girl is gorgeous!! :D
  7. I wouldn't be doubling up either. so what do u suggest i not give her? the worming or the tick/fleas?
  8. Thanks for the concern, I am a firm believer in prevention then treating since continuing use of advocate and feeding a vet prescribed food we have no longer had any issues with Stevie and much prefer to keep her problem free
  9. Stevies Mumma No need to Switch you just continue to use advocate and then apply Advantix (at the same time) every 2 weeks for Paralysis tick protection. You are then covered for everything. The 2 products are designed to be used together. NOTE daily searching for ticks is still recommended in high tick prone areas. Thanks for letting me know that I didnt realise i could use both at once, this is great news, I also intend to check her daily for ticks :D
  10. Thanks for that, if I switch to advantix what is the best form of all wormer? I'm so lost now that advocate doesn't cater to ticks
  11. Hi Everyone, we have a 1 year old Pug Stevie who we have used advocate on since the day we got her this has suited us perfectly as we are not in a tick prone area, however we will soon be moving to the coast and was wondering what our best option would be in regards to tick prevention as advocate basically does everything except ticks? i'd ideally like to continue using advocate as Stevie has had a problem with mange in the past and it seems to have helped with this. thank you in advance for your suggestions
  12. I can't believe the amount of people that have over looked pugs in the toy category lol I guess you can tell when someone hasn't owned one
  13. Such gorgeous Dogs, for some reason I am having trouble uploading photo's keeps saying my files are too big not sure how to fix that :-(
  14. I too cannot have wheat, so its the crust off my gluten free toast :-)
  15. She just has 2 small portions of kibble, as well as so carrot and apple and as of this morning a small amount of natural yoghurt which has made all the difference
  16. Thank you all for your replies this morning I gave Stevie a smaller portion and added a snakk amount of natural yoghurt and she woofed it down, so I'm feeling a little better this morning.
  17. Thanks for your reply, Stevie is now 9 months old and has been desexed since she was 6 months, I was also thinking she might just be sick of the food she has, I tried putting some watered down stock on top and she was a little more interested, I think we might get some different food and mix it with what's left of her current food, fingers crossed this is the case :-) thanks again
  18. Hi again everyone, seems there is always something wrong witht my gorgeous pug puppy Stevie over the last few days she has become uninterested in her meals which is a little odd for my usually food driven baby. she will pick at the food a bit but hasn't been finishing it completely. she will still happily accept treats and a crust off my toast etc, I'm lost for the reason why this is going on, we havent changed her food or anything the only two things I can come up with is that now its so warm and she lazes around more she isnt all that hungry, or she is worried she is going to miss out on something if she stops to eat. Any opinions or advice would be great Thank You in Advance
  19. wouldn't me using comfortis now over dose the dog? she has only just had her monthly dose on advocate?
  20. Thank You so much for your help, I have got some flea shampoo and flea bombs, as for the outside we live in a unit so there isn't really a yard to treat. Thanks again
  21. Hi everybody, my 9 month old pug, Stevie has fleas, this is the first time this has happened and i was extremely shocked seeing as we use advocate on her monthly, i am just inquiring on what would be the next step to remove the little buggers? feeling like a a bit of a failure, it has escaped me how she could have gotten them? she is an indoor dog obviously and yes we walk her but I was just confused? please help thank you in advance
