  1. When she grabs you reach down and scruff her, growl and walk off. If she comes and wont bite offer her a toy or treat. She doesnt know any better but biting needs to stop ASAP

I actually read this in another of your posts that persephone linked, so I tried it,

it worked the first time I did it. But then after that she'd think it was a game and it would rev her up more.

I tried a different type of yelp this morning and it seems to work, she left my feet alone then. Then I gave her a nice roo bone to chew on.

  2. I know it's normal for puppies to bite.

But my GSD puppy is biting my feet whenever I go outside.

When I go to grab a toy she can bite she follows me and keeps biting :(

Also she is biting our hands.

I try to walk inside and leave her alone for a couple of minutes, but then she races me to the door like it is a game?

I also tried yelping but she just thinks the game gets funner then.

I've tried saying no sharply and giving her a time out.

Is it something puppies generally grow out of? I don't know what to do.. any advise would be marvelous. I don't want to have to wear shoes whenever I go outside to be with her. :/

  3. Casper (our recently dearly departed 14 yo yellow lab) nudged his whole life....for some loving, food, attention or just because. He'd nudge legs, under arms, necks...no body part was safe :D I really miss the nudging :(

Awww. He sounds like a darling. Rest in peace sweet Casper.

  4. She was doing Obedience with GSD club but she was hard to control due to high drive and her not responding to any collar we used. Since then I was able to consult with a friend who trains dogs professionally. Which has helped heaps with the lead work and we now can walk her behaving within reason. I try to walk her 3 times a week or more. We have been working hard on her being allowed in and sitting on her bed instead of running all over the place, teaching her fetch etc. Yes this week she is bored as in sydney it's been teeming with rain all week. Mind you the more exercise the more off the planet she seems to be and we also get more destruction as well.

We've always obedience trained our dogs but this one is a different kettle of fish (dog).

I've always wondered why people are so scared to walk their dogs in the rain. Personally theres nothing I love more then going for a long walk in the rain, then jumping in a nice warm shower when I get home.

Sounds like she has abit of cabin fever.

  5. her full name is Zeus Killer Kelly

Awww what an awesome name!!! 8 days? Wow lucky you! We have to wait until around the 8th of August!

Thanks! I think it's awesome too.. my OH said to me after I told him her name "That's dumb, Dogs don't have last names!" hehehe I said "you're dumb and my dogs can have whatever names I like!"

Haha I guess it's even more exciting for me because it's the first time I've had a dog really.

I mean, we've had family dogs growing up, but I've never had my own dog.

I've dreamed of this day ever since I moved out of home (about 4 years ago!)

I would die if I had to wait until August. It was going to be the 11th August, but she gets vaccinated, wormed, microchipped on the 29th.

  6. Hi guys! :( I seem to be having such a hard time waiting for Zeus. Even though I get her in 8 days, it feels like the last two days have taken foreverrrrrrr.

-Must occupy mind to stop thinking about her  haha.

Wait, Zeus is a girl?? You named her after a king of the gods?

YESSSS haha :D her full name is Zeus Killer Kelly. I was going to name her Killer, but my OH thought that was silly.

  7. get an innotek static bark collar for small dogs, they work on a warning and level system. The dog will get a tiny stim and only if it keeps barking will the level go up one, then another, then another. It's a successive one that is fair on the dog and teaches it quality over quantity barking. You can always up the start level if the lowest does nothing.

That sounds really good actually :)

  8. Grumpysmurf, what type of dog is he?? He's beautiful!!

He's a Multigen Australian Labradoodle. I realise many on this site are against these designer dogs, but we are just in love with them

You might like to have a read of the rules of the site :)

This site was created for pure bred dog discussion

The primary purpose of this forum is to promote and discuss pure bred dogs (as recognised by the ANKC) so we ask you respect our aim when visiting here. If you own a cross breed dog, you are also welcome here, but we ask that you refer to it by it's proper name (eg a pug-x or cavalier-x instead of the designer term 'pugalier'). Please do not start threads asking what breeds people think make up your cross-bred dog or to express your outrage at the latest designer dog you saw. We prefer to concentrate our discussion on the pure bred dog (ANKC recognised).

Please don't feel unwelcome here Grumpysmurf!

  9. DOL is packed full of advice but there are a lot of drama queens around here. Stay and chat, your puppy is lovely and there's plenty of advice to be found among these pages! :D Trust me, raising a puppy is hard, you're gonna need us! ;)

haha you can say that again.. I don't understand why people get so upset about such trivial matters?

Grumpysmurf, you have a beautiful Labrador x Poodle pup :) Thankyou for sharing such a gorgeous pic.
