  1. Hi guys, thanks for the great response, I have decided to go another lab, does the sex of the new puppy play a major role or i have no control and have to leave it to them to sort themselves out?
  2. ok thankyou guys, a great response Firstly the reason behind getting a second dog is to give skye abit of comapny, and ive always wanted a 2nd dog. My current dog 'skye' is a female and she is desexed, she spends 80% of the day inside the house and sleeps inside at night in her bed, also is completly toilet trained and very well behaved. In public she is OK, great and playful with other dogs and sometimes abit over excited, but comes back on command. The breeds im considering are, another Lab, A German sheppard, or a Siberian Husky. Although im not sure yet what breed, also i know the sex of the 2nd dog is important and how it will play out between the two..
  3. hey guys, i have a black 18month old Labrador and im considering purchasing another dog, i have only ever had one dog at a time and would be appreciative to hear feedback on your thoughts of what breeds i should be looking at and any past experiences.
  4. Yea my pup lab who will be 9 weeks on Friday gets BREAKFAST: 30g cop rice puppy kibble, 1x sard LUNCH: a raw meaty bon DIINNER: 30g coprice puppy kibble, 1x raw egg OR k and veggies
  5. Yes that excellent, well i have been 100% consistent since last night and a great start so far, every time I see her sniffing around I walk towards the back door and she follows me, we go outside and I take her to where she's supposed to go within 30seconds she goes and I praise her heaps. I'm thinking of hanging a bell or something at the back door so she can make some noise wen she needs to go out. Or even just get a doggy door.
  6. ok great, so i started feeding her outside last night and spent about an hour playing with her. everytime she hears a bark she goes to run inside, i shut the doors then acted like nothing happened, she continued playing but not as keen as she was scared. i think over time this will pass.. she slept inside with me again and elimated in the house. to do this peoperly ill need to keep her outside overnight? during the day i can take her out thats not a problem..
  7. well yea thats right, im not worried because she loves her bones... ill try cutting out the mince altogether. and continue with the bones.. thanks ppl.
  8. Well, yea I do hav a backyard, it's just she's only 8weeks old and the neighbours dog barking scares her, but yea I will look to start taking her outside.. I suppose she will get used to the barking.. Thanks guys
  9. ive had my pup for 4 days now and she has been feeding great, the only thing im suprised at is that she doesnt like any raw mince, i have tried chicken and beef mince and she wont touch it! she eats all her bones, kibble (coprice), daily sardine and raw eggs.. but raw mince she plays with and doesnt eat.. should be be concerned or is this normal?
  10. i have had my black labrador pup for 4 days now and she has automatically been goin to the toilet on the lino in my house (half the house is lino and half is carpet) which i am very pleased about, although i have got the the puppy training pads and put them in a 3X3 grid and sprayed the scent on them she still prefers the lino unless i do my best to keep her on them. Is there anything that i should put on the lino where i dont want her to go? eg wash the floor with anything in particular so she prefers the pads and speeds this process up? (will it be a good idea to leave her droppings etc on the pads so she associates this with where she should be goin) Also she wakes me up every morning at 3am to take her to the lino so she can go toilet, obviously scared to go on her own.. any suggestions or advice?
  11. yes its the right attitude, i lost a fox terrior x jack russell earlier this yr, i was 4 when i got him and he was 17 when he passed, i had a priceless time with him (Sonic) although he will NEVA be forgotten... Sonics memory still n always will sit very heavy with me.. i feel its a situation of take the good with the bad.. life is life..
  12. some very funny dog food cravings.. i wonder what my black lab will be crazy for.. some great posts ppl..
  13. yea ill be interested in takin my black lab 'skye' once she is old enough.. i get her this friday 5th aug.. so when shes had her full vaccs ill be definatly interested in some socialising..
