  1. depends on whats being covered IMO. if one night was flatwork, one night motivation and one night obstacles for example, i would be in heaven i try and train that much, but with no lighting in the yard, and getting home after dark, it doesn't leave much time! i wish i had a club with that kind of schedule!
  2. lol tonight at training we had the dog walk out. kuda has only seen the dog walk once or twice before, but we have done a lot of 2o2o work in the back yard. tonight she was loving the dog walk, and would leave me, bolt over to the end of it and offer a "touch" (or 2o2o) little creep! i think it was also because i focused on it so much it has a lot of value to her! we did a bit of flatwork between the obstacles to remind her to read her mamas body! it was pretty cute, and hard not to laugh...on the bright side she was going over the DW with so much confidence, and providing awesome 2o2o finishes :D love that dog!
  3. there are (from what i can quickly gather) already 10 interested. Another 2 people and that is a 30% saving, bringing it from $74.95 to $52.46...add $6.40 on for a pre-paid parcel and it seems pretty good to me?? ;) i class my dog as reactive, not aggressive
  4. i LOVE this DVD! i will keep improving on these drills and see how we go! :D this is our first session with the "out" cue. Should i continue improving it, or just work on improving our turns etc? we are pretty solid with our FCs and RCs (it is me that needs to remember to use them! ) this is the "go on" cue although you cant hear me say it? LOL Be nice with the criticism, we are still learning!
  5. Thanks guys! some great tips there! I have been working on a "go on" cue getting her to work ahead of me on the line she is on, which is working well so far! I will stick with improving our communication (my handling ) rather than focusing on one thing!
  6. I have had mine a couple of months now, and it did stretch a little, maybe 10cm, but now it has had a bit of use it is less stretchy! my second one turned up in the mail today! YAY!
  7. My vet was very familiar with all my animals and wrote a lovely reference for us saying how we had a great bond, and they were very well cared for etc. real estate told us they loved it!
  8. I have been working on moving laterally away from the obstacles and she performs them ok, but i dont think she understands it when there is 2 jumps and i want her to take the further one. I am trying to get this sorted before we have a shot at Open Jumpers in a couple of weeks! Any suggestions on how to practice this? Any good youtube vids you can point me to? I searched Youtube and DOL but nothing that breaks it down enough for me!
  9. That sounded like amazing fun for you both! :D especially loved the line at the end! Cant wait until we get our chance for that feeling! Congrats on your great runs
  10. wow that's odd, i tried to buy a book from there and they wanted about $43 shipping! Buy direct from Amazon....not from one of their affiliates, and buy multiple items. It's way cheaper. Even with one book though, I can get it cheaper from there inc shipping than from a bookshop in Australia. I proved that last Xmas when I wanted to buy a book for my daughter. The local price for a paperback copy was $36, which I definitely wasn't paying. Amazon was about $23 inc shipping and The Book Depository was $20 inc shipping. And they were much nicer hardback versions with dust jackets. I just added 6 Kong Flyers to my Amazon cart and inc shipping it would cost me less than $70 to get them here within 14 days. They cost me around $30 each at the local Petstock and I often have to wait weeks for them to get them in stock. yeah just checked it out, and you are right, if buying 6 then it would be worth it, but it is still $43 to ship just one over!
  11. wow that's odd, i tried to buy a book from there and they wanted about $43 shipping!
  12. I feel really lucky as the club I train with are all great people! Each have their own style of teaching, some i like, some i dont, but they are always happy to help or offer advice when i ask! What is the rule with missing a weave pole? Mainly in ANKC as that is the one we have coming up! Can anyone direct me to some good vids/info on teaching distance work? We want to do open jumpers as we like to think our weaves are so cute (considering it only took 2 weeks to teach) but i dont know how we will go with the exclusion zone. i am happy to ignore it and run with her if i need to, but id rather give it a crack first!
  13. We started applying in april, not knowing what to expect, we have a staffy x and cattle dog x and the first 2 houses we applied for we were approved for! there are a lot more places available than you would imagine! If the add doesnt state either way, then apply and put all pets on the application. Im under the impression they have to put all apps forward to the owners regardless, to make the final call! Best of luck!
  14. we have just ordered a wobbler! cant wait for it to arrive! :D we get our kong toys from the vet shed tho they are a bit slow on postage. If i am in a hurry i like to use K9-Pro as they are still a pretty good price, and post much quicker! agree with above, ebay is pretty handy to pick up some great bargains! :D
  15. I always train with a collar- not any more!!! Anyone know where you can get good quality slip leads from? Btw was the dog in the video a flat coated retriever? Statik Paws Agility Leads I have a couple of these now and LOVE them! nice to hold, pretty and Kuda loves to tug with them! Hayley is a fellow QLD agility nutter! and i think was recently selected for the WAC 2012 or something? The money from the leads she makes goes towards that!
  16. I notice some people do both ADAA and ANKC...i know what they stand for, and been to the websites etc, but what are the main differences, and are there any advantages of one over another? Do you have to be registered with anyone different? Why do we have the 2 bodies for the same sport? Just curious! Why did you choose the one you compete in??
  17. *slowly removes Kuda's collar and walks away* Ill admit this never occurred to me! We will be nakey from now on! (well Kuda anyways!) The best part of this vid, you could see puppy's tail start to wag at the end! Hope they still compete!
  18. just promise you wont laugh at me too much! ;) Don't worry Krustie, we've just started competing and having SOOOOO much fun (we even got our first clear round and qualie on the weekend just gone :D ). You will have a blast - i've only done ADAA trials so far, but will start going to some ANKC soon as well - agility is awesome :D and good luck for your first comp - we might see you there :D What is the one on the 16th - i'm off to look....... here is a link to the one on the 16th QSA Trial we really do have a great time, and i think no matter what happens, we will have a blast on the 16th! i think i am all set now, thanks everyone for their help! Cant wait to get out there and give it a go! i get a real thrill out of watching all the dogs go through having a blast, and want my beefa girl to have that feeling too! hehe
  19. buddy1, the Metro comp on the 11th Sept is closed, I am entering the QLD State agility Fundraiser @ Metro on the 16th (closes Friday)! Jumpers and Strategic Pairs i think! Where is the ADAA one? Thanks guys! I have worked out the forms now, and the club has said i can be measured if i get there early enough next weekend! :D As for the vetting, i have been to watch a few trials now, and i have not seen this done yet, but i will make sure im there in time for that just in case! thanks for all the advice guys! its gonna be AWESOME! MY GOD...ADAA...ANKC...so much to know!
  20. aaaaah ok thanks! does that mean if we are desexed we dont have to worry also? our club has a trial next weekend and they have said come down very early and they will arrange to get her measured! :D woohoo! its all happening! One last question tho, I am not sure if i have filled out the right form for the trial. It is a Show Entry Form my mum gave me. Do i have to fill one out for novice and a separate for open etc?
  21. Ok i hope i can get the height thing sorted! I had no idea! HAHA can i take the dog to other trials that are on and get the judges (before hand) to do the height card then? (i would contact the club first for permission or whatever) Maybe I should have waited longer before the trial! that is a bummer about the age! on the bright side, 6 more months to fine tune! ;)
  22. thanks aussielover, i do train with a club. do i have to get this done before the trial? I only know of one judge with the club. Also, i noticed there is something called vetting before the trial, do you know what this is?
