  1. Thanks for the replies, we did visit a potential breeder the other day, met the dad and was very impressed. Will keep reading and learning, Poodle thread is very long.
  2. Hello all, this is my first post so apologies if i have placed it in the wrong area. Circumstances being what they are we are now ready to add a standard poodle to our family. At this point in time we are thinking we require a companion dog that would be suitable for obedience/trialling/agility. I have searched this forum as best i can for answers to my questions. I was reading with interest a thread back in 2007 about the temperament of std poodles based on coat colour, more specifically the red and at the time a perceived tendency for the red dogs to be nervous and timid. Is this still an issue or has the breeding over the subsequent years got rid of these traits, and are all colours on par with each other with regards to the breed standard? Is there anything special to look for in a puppy that would make it better at obedience trialling etc as opposed to the show ring, or is the best puppy simply the best puppy?
