  1. Thanks Kelly for allerting me to her need ..... and for getting your neighbours to come and meet her. Here is a quick update photo they sent me today Just lovely. She is almost as big as the horse
  2. I too have seen photos and videos of this gorgoeus boy And as I have offered him safetey with us if he needs to, I will leave it up to you to let me know if we can be of any assistance with him
  3. Her new family have called her Kelly (all her dogs names start with K) She sure was a hit and almost did not even make it to Sydney.... another potential transport failure. She had someone already planned to meet her on arrival and as it turned out, it was a perfect match. Here are some links to some photos Kelly adopted all settled in
  4. Quick update on this lovely girl we rescued from Warren. Because of her posting on DOL..... we made arrangements to get her to safety at BDR and what a great save she was... Here is her original photo posted on here early April
  5. Hi Cheryl Hope you are feeling ok after your hospital stay..... you do try and Buddy thanks you for that. I am excited to meet him on Monday on his way to our vets for his vetwork, if I can get more photos of him, I will post on here Yes a transport failure....
  6. I wanted to share this lovely story and photos of the lovely big blue boy from Narrandera pound - thanks to all the people involved in sharing him on here and also for doing the transport to get him to Yass. My volunteer transport collecting him as planned last Saturday but that is as far as he went :) The plan was, he was to be dropped off to Sydney this weekend but he won them over and they are going to keep him. I am lucky enough to meet him on Monday as he is coming to our vets to get all his vetwork done, especially to be castrated. This is his original DOL photo.... And for those that want to see where he is today... pls click on this link Buddy today
  7. This boy has been a FANTASTIC save!!!!!! I am so glad we managed to take him on as he is proving to be just the most perfect dog. So far, we have not been able to fault him He is great with other dogs, and wonderful with kids. For any dogs we rescue, we have loads of photo udpates and videos on our LATEST NEWS. I have added a couple of links to the site.... However if anyone wants to find any updates. all you would need to to do is log on to our website www.bigdogrescue.org.au / latest news and type in the dogs name on the top right hand search button and it will bring out all the posts on that particular dog Bobby and a 14 month old boy Pack walk for Bobby More videos
  8. Luki recently joined us from Renbury farm (imp 5902) on the 22nd of February. This boy is just perfect.... very much like his name predecesor Luci - for those that may have been following our blog. Luci is a brindle with a white head just like Luki, with very similary temperaments. He is extremely dog social and great with kids and adults alike. Not a barker but happily waits in his kennel until its his time to be let out to have some play time with the other dogs. Luki is all ready to leave as he has had all his vetwork done. I will be adding a short video compilation of him very soon, in the meantime, here is his temp notes Temperament Notes: Approx 2 years old (he was not microchipped when we got him) so his date is a very rough guess. He does have worn teeth which is hard to guage his age. His coat and eyes do make him a much younger dog than his teeth tell us Food guarding: Not worried about you coming near his bowl whilst eating Treat motivated: yes, easy to train Correction: Very obedient, so not needed to correct much, but listens well when corrected Obedience: Very obedient, has had some prevoius training Leash work: Walks very well on leash, when given a quick check he falls into place quickly Handling: Not fussed, easy to handle all over Health: In general good health, may be on the thin side, but eats well enough so should not take too long to fatten up. All vetwork already done Fence: Has not shown any attempt to jump fences Stranger Danger: well behaved and not fussed with new people Kid test: Okay with kids, not overly exciteable Dog to Dog: Plays well with other dogs..... does not carryon through the fence Dog to other animals: Only been tested with other dogs Grooming: Very easy to bath and groom Behaviour through a fence/ guarding: Not a problem at all Toilet Trained: appears to be for an overall look at Luki's behaviour, I feel he is a very balanced type of dog with good doggy skills and very easy to care for. He is a really nice dog I will be adding some video footage of Luki if anyone is interested. Pls check out our website on www.bigdogrescue.org.au (pls go to the latest news and search for Luki) Pls check this link to find more photos photos of Luki
  9. Minka was secured a home.... but sadly it has fallen through We have taken her off the 'available list'... had a few interest but as she was supposedly adopted, they could not take her. Such a shame when this happens. Lovely little dog, very children friendly too... took her to collect the kids from school and she was very gentle with everyone. She has a lovely nature, fantastic with other dogs, both male and female.. She is a tiny little Staffy that should not take up too much space :) for more information or photos, pls check www.bigdogrescue.org.au
  10. Ruby, Dog of the Month of February - medium female staffordshire bull terrier dog Ruby and her sister Ella are looking for a new home. If you are ready for an instant family, these girls could be the ones for you. The girls found themselves abandoned at the pound and are now in need of a new loving home. They are good looking girls with a typical happy-go-lucky staffy nature. The girls can be adopted together, or separately. They are both very social girls and run nicely with a pack of social dogs with no trouble at all. To view a quick videos, pls click on these links Temp notes for Ruby Food guarding: Shares a bowl happily with Ella... does not fight with her over food - not sure about another dog she is not that friendly with Treat motivated: no Correction: not greatly responsive...but can be fixed with consistency and patience Obedience: improving... as she has been with Ella the whole time she has been with us, it is difficult to work on obedience when there are two dogs involved. They are very close and are together all the time. Slowly getting more one on one time with her to do some training Leash work: initially pulls but does not take her long to settle and walks well beside you Handling: Was shy but is improving Health: Good health Fence: Has not shown tendencies or interest in jumping the fence Stranger Danger: Shy but NOT aggressive Kid test: Affectionate and friendly Dog to Dog: Mostly good, but can be dominant Dog to other animals: Not tested, but she has a high prey drive and shows interest to the wild rabbits Grooming: okay in the bath. minimal care, short easy to manage coat Behaviour through a fence/ guarding: Can be a bit aggro through the fence initially but once corrected, settles down quickly Toilet Trained: Yes Other: Ruby and Ella are very close. We feel it would be okay to rehome them seperately. Ruby being more independent than Ella. ************************************************************************************************************************************
