  1. Thank you everyone for your thoughts. .
  2. Mindibown Tiff-A-Nee 19 Jan 2001 - 28 Feb 2012 I will miss my sweet little baby forever. Gone to join Amber and Chiquitta in Heaven. HEAVEN'S DOGGY-DOOR My best friend closed her eyes yesterday, As her head was in my hand. The Doctors said she was in no pain, But it was hard for her to stand. The thoughts that scurried through my head, As I cradled her in my arms. Were of her younger, puppy years, And OH...her many charms. Today, there was no gentle nudge With an intense "I love you gaze", Only a heart thats filled with tears Remembering our joy filled days. But an Angel just appeared to me, And he said, "You should cry no more, GOD also loves our canine friends, HE's installed a 'doggy-door"! FOREVER IN MY HEART. .
  3. Thanks Bilbo Baggins I have looked there. I am Central Victoria and might have to wait until the next closest venue. I will keep looking though. Thanks. .
  4. Could someone please steer me to a website/links that gives out cheap microchipping and the area they are doing them. I seem to have lost my links. I am in Victoria. Thanks in advance.
  5. You would be agressive too if you had a giant standing near by. Michelleva you should have bit the owners for not teaching that dog some manners. Yeah I have three Chi's and I consider my dogs trained. .
  6. My Trixie is Malt X Westie and I bought my Medium Furminator from eBay. $20 bucks something. And believe me it works. I got a bucket of fur from her. She looks cooler and much happier since. It even worked on my Chihuahua's, not that they needed it, but Marshall, fabulous and he doesn't shed as much now. Last time, about 2 weeks ago, I was in the Pet Stock store and they were promoting the Furminator for $49.95 for the medium. Not sure if they will let you try one before you buy.
  7. What gets me is that this is all a set up. I not having a go at the copper but here in the country news reporters don't get a chance to take photos. Its done and quick. And as someone said its Australia Day.
  8. Sometimes feeding chihuahuas is the fault of the owner. They tend to feed their usual feeding, but because it is such a small feed they think, that's not enough. So will give more. Even during the day, those extra little bits that the owner may have with her tea or coffee. A biscuit for me and one for the dog. Or even lunch time, a bit of sandwich can mysterious appear to the chihuahua without the owner thinking about it. At tea time, a bit of steak or hamburger is a treat for the little darlings. A slice of cheese or ham that fell off the bench, etc etc. In this case, training the owner is a good idea. Adding vegetables to her food will help with the calories and a little walk around the back yard, twice, three times a day will help get the kilos down. Then when the weight is manageable, a walk around the block is sufficient. Don't want to wear out the heart muscles too quickly. I feed my guys 50gms of raw meat. Weigh it up, it isn't much and you do feel sorry for them, but we chihuahua owners must be strong. When they pile on the weight, vegetables get added. So my guys weight will be up one month and down another. Always constant weight management. But I have children who don't understand that that little bit of toast or meat they dropped, adds the weight on them. And check the teeth. The teeth is the main worry with chihuahuas. If they need to be cleaned or removed, then please try and have them done urgently. A little dog can get very sick with teeth problems.
  9. When I have had a dog not eating I use Nutrigel. I must say I haven't had to use it for a long time.
  10. Thats a great selection there. Like mine. I alternate between mince and mince mixed with offals and chunks of meat. Every day or two its a different meal. Chicken necks or chicken wings for their teeth. A lamb shank for that real teeth cleaning and ripping. Vegetables or fruit in season. I have to do different meals as I have one that wont eat liver. Even when I mince it finely. As for kibble I dont use it. My guys would be fatter than they already are if I did that, plus I'm not a believer of kibble. For breakfast they would get two chicken necks and their 50gms mix at night. Anything more than that and they are fat little porkers. They get leftovers during the day as I have children who think the dogs are starving so they are always handing them something of their plates. The dogs have even learnt to follow that kid around until they drop something.
  11. I was going to suggest that. I do this at summer time as when its hot and my guys dont drink. You'd think being hot they would. Anyways, when the poos are hard and very dry, that usually means more bone content than meat. I dont know what the contents are in the patty that you give, but adding more meat will help. Also have you thought of adding oily foods like Sardines? A touch of Sunflower Oil or Fish oil capsules help too. Some dogs cant handle Kangaroo meat as it is strong. Try different meats or even mixing different meats together. I do. As with colitis, watch any weight loss/gain and up/down the meat quantity to see if it makes a difference.
  12. Thinking something in the water may have caused the flaky skin. Did you give her a good bath straight after with your normal shampoo?
  13. A Vitamin E cap is not needed if you feed a raw diet with a variety of fruit and vegetables, which I do.
  14. I go to Chemist Warehouse and get whatever is on special. At the moment I have Healthy Care Fish Oil 1000mg Omega 3. Cant remember how much it costs but it was like around $12.00 for 400 capsules. Which is cheap compare to the other brands. I give my guys one capsules a day. If you have big dogs, then two capsules will be fine. If they dont take the capsules whole, then put a pin through the capsule and squeeze it on their tucker.
