  1. So does that help you make the correct decision about your puppy? Not my puppy, to many ppl are quick to jump to conclusions and make judgement, this doesnt bother me.. however many novices needing advice would be put off from asking for help .. once again thanks to those who helped.
  2. Have given my friend the link so she can read all the above. thnx
  3. Ok.. vet got back to me,this is what he told me, his receptionist was wrong however... "8 weeks is a code and not a fineable offence" registered breeders can be reported. vaccinations under 6 weeks " yes, can be dangerous but mainly due to inneffectiveness, can be increased risk of reaction to vaccine because of age"
  4. seems a bit odd..esp if pups are papered ..AND going at 6 weeks ? Clear breach of ANKC code of ethics. And against State Law in NSW to sell or give away any puppy under 8 weeks. The breeder should be reported to Dogs NSW and the local council. The ANKC code of ethics requires puppies to be vaccinated at 6 weeks and not released for 2 weeks after. It also requires them to be microchipped and wormed as does State law. Definitely find another breeder as this one is completely unethical. The receptionist at my vet told me when i rang that its legal in nsw to sell puppies at 6 weeks... am waiting for my vet to call me back re original question.. thnx to those who assisted
  5. The dangers of having a three week old pup vaccinated are that it will die OR the vaccination will be completely ineffective. If your friend takes that pup and it isn't vaccinated the effect will be the same - the pup will have no protection from a number of potentially lethal diseases. I sincerely doubt that this pup has pedigree papers and if it does then the seller is in breach of the ANKC code of ethics and I'm pretty sure at least one or two NSW laws. Does that sound like a responsible breeder to you? Tell your friend to see the pedigree papers for both parents AND evidence of the breeders registration with Dogs NSW. I doubt both dogs will be on Main Register and that a current prefix is held. I think there is every chance your friend is being told a bunch of porkies. put to one side the ethics of the breeder for now, what is the difference between my friend geeting the pup vaccinated at 6 weeks or a breeder vaccinating at 6 weeks as long as the pup is kept isolated until it has immunity?
  6. Yes i thought it would be ineffective but couldn't find info online about possible dangers, i'l suggest she get it done when she picks pup up. thnx ARRRRRGH!! A completely unvaccinated pup out in the world with no immunity to parvovirus? Think about it for a minute. This is a disease spread by everything from shoes to walking on infected ground. That pup shouldn't be going ANYWHERE without its first vaccinations. Does your friend actually want her pup to LIVE??? Of course she wants pup to live, all we want to know are the dangers if any of having a 3 week old puppy vaccinated, pup has papers, breeder said her vet normally vaccinates at 4 weeks but is going to ask for them to be done at 3 weeks...i have no idea why.
  7. Yes i thought it would be ineffective but couldn't find info online about possible dangers, i'l suggest she get it done when she picks pup up. thnx
  8. My friend is adamant about getting this staffy puppy and breeder wants pickup to be at 6 weeks not 8 as i suggested, friend is however happy to tell the breeder not to have pup vaccinated at all & get it done herself at 6 weeks if there's a danger to the pup.i cant dictate only offer advice as to vaccination age.. thanks guys.. need info asap!
  9. A friend of mine has placed a deposit on a 2.1/2 week old puppy the breeder then infomed her she is going to try to get the puppies vaccinated at 3 weeks as she normally gets them done at 4 weeks, i understand the maternal anti bodies and age specifics to ensure full protection .. but is it dangerous ? should my friend put her foot down and get vac done when she picks pup up at 6 weeks? thanks
  10. Of course not, there is no defence in this case, owner is totally at fault in the circumstances. Not necessarily are dogs in trouble biting someone, they can in certain circumstances, but the problem in most cases is that people don't know how to defend their case properly unfortunately. Several years ago in a small nsw country town i was sat in a ute with my blue heeler in middle (partner had popped into shop)the lights of vehicle were accidently on, a policeman walked past drivers side & told me lights were on as he put his hand thru open window to turn them off as he did the dog bit him & also tore his sleeve, i was panick stricken, the officer actually said it was his fault & he should have known better ,the dog was defending his property.
  11. my 12 mnth ammstaff is on the grain free salmon, changed to it from supercoat puppy to assist his itchy skin, he also has (raw chicken/turkey necks etc)skin has improved, no change in energy levels but he has lost weight..2kg he doesnt consume as much of the canidae as he did the supercoat (his choice its left in his bowl)so i'm thinking maybe its not the right choice??? hes been on it for a couple of weeks now.
