  1. Mummy hooks or dog hooks (whatever you want to call them) are great. Some of the car harnesses are bulky. With the hook they wear their normal harness, and you just hook the hook clasp thing around the seatbelt and through the metal loop on the harness and close it. Or you can get the attachment that hooks onto the harness and clicks into the seatbelt buckle thing.
  2. I bought a book at the pet expo the other day about the telepathic and psychic abilities of dogs and I was wondering if anyone has any experiences with this.
  3. The lady at pet barn recommended Purina Pro plan Sensitive skin and stomach, the vet said the hypoallergenic (of course that is a veterinary product) and they will want to sell their own product, you look at the top 10 list and royal Canin isn't there, but that also depends on who is doing the poll or research! Thank you for the advice. It is good to get a wide range of opinions on dog food.

  5. Bella is on Royal Canin Hypoallergenic at the moment but it is $70 a bag and that is not the big bag! So I tried her on Eukanuba and she is not crazy about it...my cats didn't like it either. The Eukanuba didn't seem to give her an allergy or upset which is great but like I said, she doesn't really like it. I gave her a few of the Canidae today and she liked it and no tummy upset.
  6. I was at the Pet expo today and picked up some samples of Canidae dry dog food. I thought that since it is gluten free, corn free and is supposed to be natural etc I might give it a try. Does anyone know where it ranks in the pet food scale? Anyone tried it?
  7. I was there today and they only had a Staffy rescue stall.
  8. puppy farm... Or the pound adopting Stitch out to a fmily with a young girl despite being obviously bad tempered... lol I was thinking the same thing!
  9. Can you lock the sliding door still? Found my answer! :D
  10. Did you know Bellackcs that the breed standard allows for the tail to be docked 1/3 of it's length! (Of course docking is now illegal in Australia, but that's a whole different tale! ;) ) Thank goodness for that!

  12. I thought it was a clip from the movie because I only heard the music as the video didn't play....saw it and that is just great!
  13. I love Lady and the Tramp! Ryan bought it for me for Valentines day. In the movie they refer to her as a cocker spaniel but she LOOKS like a cavalier except for the little tail. I always thought she was a CKCS. I would love to read the original book!
  14. I agree. I was concerned watching that. Yip - not interested in the bunfight but that body language wad very dominant and she wad stood over and rounded up a fair bit. She didn't look comfortable all the time. FWIW not a great idea to hold your dog dangling like that either - this often encourages dogs to jump up. TW hasn't said anything controversial, other than break an unwritten rule... That wasn't me holding my dog, that was someone else with a cavalier pup....my dog was playing chasings.
  15. This was her playing with the other dogs about an hour after they met. Bella has the Blue harness.
  16. Here is her first dog park experience....
  17. OP hadn't concluded that all Whippets were sweet and gentle.. as they should be, with PEOPLE, not prey animals. Should a strange offlead Whippet be treated with caution around such a small pup. You betcha, especially if it's inclined to scream or run. NO responsible sighthound owner would counsel otherwise. My dogs have been extensively socialied with toy breeds. Not all dogs have and I suggest its best to assume not. Never heard of a Whippet killing a puppy, but cats, guinea pigs etc.. yep. But DO dogs kill puppies. All the time sadly. Aussie3: Without the consent of the other dog's owner and with the other dog under control, not in my book it ain't. It's called an accident waiting to happen. First of all.....I said "All of the Pit Bulls I have met" not ALL PIT BULLS...I do not let my dog rush up to any dog thank you very much, I always talk to an owner first and ask if their dog is friendly with other dogs and I always use caution and stay right by her side! The truth is, I had never met a pit bull before. I had only heard stories about how aggressive they are etc and I was pleasantly surprised that all of the ones that Bella and myself have met have been so good with her! I just wanted to say something nice.
  18. She was playing and was bolled over and the Pit Bull went over to make sure she was okay, another dog was growling at her and another pit bull stepped in front of Bella... those kind of things.
  19. What a great post Bellackcs!! And what did said lab owner do abt his lab showing aggression towards your dog?? I was watching one of those American animal rescue shows just last night and there were three pits. One they took away from the owner, the two they left were beautiful dogs, both in looks and temperament. The one they took "Duchess" was the most beautiful dog, despite her abuse all she wanted to do was have kisses and cuddles with the vets and rescuers :) She found a lovely new home with a wonderful owner. Each dog is an individual and should be treated as such. The lab owners wife put the lab back on the leash for a few minutes.
  20. Hi everyone, I am just writing to say to the Pit Bull owners that I am sorry your dogs constantly get a bad wrap. Bella (my cavalier king charles pup of 18 weeks) has met quite a few pit bulls in the last couple of weeks. She made friends with one at the vet who was upset when it was time for us to go, she made friends with 3 at the dog park and they were gentle and even protective of her. All of the pitbulls I have been in contact with have been sweet natured and gentle. There was a man at the dog park with labs and one of the pit bulls went up to him for a pat, he pushed it away and asked the owner to keep it away and that it shouldn't be off-leash in a dog park, a few minutes later, Bella was sitting on my lap and the lab growled at her, bared its fangs and attempted to bite her.
