  1. it was great :) Bodies heeling has always been excellent (only thing holding us off for open is the end of his damn retrieve )and as we have been practicing the walking back thing in tricks lately the left 360 and 270 were pretty easy for him to pick up, lol my only issue (apart from MY stuff ups) is that both my boys will offer a sit if i'm too slow or hesitate i wasted half my rallyo training this week speed walking through the left turn in a figure of 8 so they dont plant their bums they ignored the food and toy but if i dont go left fast they sit

  2. We went to Geelong for our first RallyO experience it was really fun and really awesome that we got our 3 passes and Bodies title in one day but man I was wrecked, I should say Bodie got his title in spite of me not with me!!

So nervous the first trial - have not trialled in 2 years! and my first rallyo experience, 2nd trial we both hit our stride and got a 94, 3rd trial I got lost coming out of a spiral and was so tired I forgot where the next station was for a second :o but we got through regardless!

Thank you Geelong for a great trial!!

  3. Yes Piper i do weaken and and play fetch but mainly they are both flyball nuts so usually they are to drop the ball and grab the tug that could be part of it, i am not trying to get them to retrieve the ball that way.

I will keep going with the treats and clicker drives me nuts as Bodie has been ready for open apart from that one thing for years and is stubborn about it >.>

Tassie to you remember anyone getting a brother or sister of Bodie way back then? i was curious how they went, Zee is Bodie's half brother and the breeder mentioned a DOL Tassie person who came for a puppy years ago :)

  4. thanks Tracksam I have been working on that, they seem determined to outlast me Zee was staring at the toy for 2 minutes before determined it was going to move on its own >.<

I was trying to get them to hold the rubber duck today something soft and squishy as they are sooky boys and i want the hold to be a positive thing for them, will keep trying :)

Tassie was it you that was interested in flyball all those years ago? I saw the Tassie teams at dandenong last year and thought of you :)

  5. I have been trying, have tried a few sessions of clicker training which they love, rewarding them to pick the item back up. have tried getting them to hold a soft item they are both a bit iffy about that which is weird as both of them when we are out playing seem to need to carry stuff around in their mouths, bark, boots, cardboard not that fussy but as soon as they are sitting in front of me trying to give them anything is a struggle

  6. I am at my wits end, I love my boys but both to the same thing retrieve get to within a meter of me then spit out whatever they have in their mouth and stare at it waiting for it to move on its own :(

they both love a tug motivator have no trouble pulling it but getting them to hold anything and stay still is hard.

Any constructive suggestions would be welcome :) Bodie has been held back in obedience as we cant do this one thing and his younger brother seems to be heading the same way I realise its probably me that is the problem but how do i fix me/this thanks :)

  7. it was 5 times and then nothing for a week mainly familiarity, i have more concerns about him clicking into a bad habit like Bodie did and not being able to train him out of it. If i was working on it for 30 mins or something i could see an issue but its, like 5 times with play in between even fetching a ball so i'm not hammering him on the box constantly or anything. it was at club yes.

  8. Haven't read all of this thread so I may be repeating something already said but . . .

Once my dogs have learnt the individual exercises they then work for their 'bikkas' at the end of a run through. I have their treat in their container in my obed bag and they are shown that it is there. Their reinforcement in between exercises are verbal reward & reminder - ie "good dog, get bikkas for that". They know they will get them at the end - Yep I have Pavlov's dogs  .

& a tip given to me years ago was a shot of vodka w a shot of raspberry cordial - works a treat.

Roflol wouldnt want to be trialling more than one dog .. or be doing a double trial in one day haha :)

  9. I'm a bit hooked. Was at Erskine Park today showing and I kept wistfully looking over at the State Titles. Went for a wander over there but Tess got a bit too excited and vocal at seeing sheep for me to stay for too long.

How much harder is the PT than the HT?

i asked the same question in the dog sports section someone linked their PT test it pretty much pick the heeep up from a few meters away herd them around the fence with some parrelle (?) gates to keep them close-ish to the fence 3 meters from the fence i think in a big U shape turn around go back and stick them in a pen but look at the link of her test on my forum question :)

  10. shh but i like her face better than his :) could just be he is more beaky not a lot of stop though i love smoothing his ears back he looks like snoopy then hehe

I was a bit put off by his whiteness almost got one of his black brothers but as soon as i put a ball down he was all over it hehe the whiteys are an aquired taste :) and i i think i have aquired it!!

  11. He is a spunky Blue boya lot of white i was really unsure about him the first time i saw him ... lol though at 2 weeks old he just looked like a white rat!! he is flecking up on his neck and side now where most of his white is, he will look ... interesting to say the least :) lucky i got him because his brother has been such an awesome dog looks and brain yay!!
