  1. I was under the impression they were cheap because I paid over $80 for the Cortavance spray. I'd use it again though if she had the same problem, as it was very effective. It would be great to get it at a cheaper price though. :)
  2. Apologies for my absence. Just had a few family dramas to deal with. The website I was referring to is: http://www.petceutics.com.au/index.php/cortavance-spray.html :) truehorseaddsict
  3. Thank you for the continual interest and views. The website I was thinking about buying from is based in Australia and therefore should not have problems with customs. But I will certainly check with them about expiry date. Rather in shock over the vet buying medication and turning it around for a quick mark-up. Obviously I live a sheltered life and shock easily. lol Am I allowed to post the name of the Australian website that I was thinking about buying from under the forum rules? Just thought other people might be interested...
  4. Thank you for all the replies, it's great to get advice from all of you. I put my girl on Zyrtec when I see her show her usual signs and the Cortavance spray helps to relieve the ichyness. I also use Advantix, and Capstar if needed, and an essential oil mix on her coat to keep any fleas looking her way at bay. Most of the time, this is quite a good routine. I so hate to see her suffer. Thanks again for your input!! Kind regards, truehorseaddict
  5. Sorry- I think I've confused everyone- the prescription medication I was thinking about buying online is the Cortavance spray. Sorry about this mix-up.
  6. Just wanted to ask if anyone has bought prescription medication online for their dog. My dog's hot spot and other allergy items are pretty much under control. Occasional outbreaks causes us both much grief. Last time, the vet put us onto an anti-itch spray made by Virbac called Cortavance which really helped but it was over $80!!! While searching for prices for Advantix last night, I came across an Australian online shop that sells the same stuff for $42.51 but I obviously have to provide a script from the vet. Not sure if I'm allowed to mention the website's name- but has anyone purchased medication online? Did you have any problem getting the vet to write out a script? Kind regards, truehorseaddict
  7. Hi everyone, A workmate is very concerned about her 8 year old cocker spaniel who has developed a limp over the last week or so. When she and her mum took her to the vet, he found "no issues" with him. More or less saying it's just a bit of soreness that the dog would get over in a few days. He recommended no medication whatsoever, nothing said about any tendency or issues within the breed. He didn't recommend any tests or scans. I was quite upset upon hearing this- surely, no dog is going to walking with a limp for days if there is not a problem! Apparently this is just their local vet hospital, luckily up to this point, they have been lucky to have a illness free, healthy dog. They have only ever needed to take him in for his annual injections etc; and every time they go in, they see a different vet. Compared with the wonderful vet that I take my girl to, it sounds just like a supermarket. She is very keen in finding a good vet somewhere around the St George area (Kogarah, Carlton) to take doggie to for a second opinion and to get a much better level of care. Can anyone please please recommend a good vet in this region. It would be great to take him in for a proper diagnosis asap I think. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Kind regards, truehorseaddict
