  1. Hi guys hope someone can help. I have a Maltese / poodle she's white & has horrible stains around eyes, we have tried baby wipes & tea to remove stains but nothing removes it. She does get clipped in summer, but now it's winter to cold so was hoping someone could suggest a product that works, we have tried tear stain remover but didn't work. Willing to try natural non harmful stuff. As its near eyes. Please any help welcome.
  2. I'd agree but it's not a behaviour we like him to have. Will try muzzle that way he can see the strangers & maybe realise these guys aren't out to eat him. They have come into the house & said hello to the dogs. We have 4 everyone is fine with them just not him. Even his sister doesn't act like him. Maybe it's a age thing, or him asserting dominance. But he's never been like this before. If only animals could talk
  3. We have locked him away, but sometimes door gets opened & raging bull comes out. We're getting a doggie yard built away from strangers, but everything takes time. Yes I agree with the biting bit he was angry, but we didn't need him biting worker. The workers we got now go to back door as he's unable to get to back door. Puppy gate We've contacted the breeder we got them from in hope they maybe have a answer. But they to are baffled as they've sold boys to families with no probs later in life. We know he wasn't the runt of litter as the mum had a litter of 8 our boy was the 5th born. He's booked into vets so wait & see I guess.
  4. They do run around, but I wouldn't say they play rough, his last check up at vets he was ideal weight & he had no back issues. The main issue is his aggression towards strangers, he used to like new people coming in house, now he just wants to kill them. He bit my sister this morning left teeth marks. He did this as she was picking up so tradie could enter house. We've come to the realization that he will have to wear a muzzle, only while tradies are coming in & out we just can't watch him all the time. Poor tradies have to run a gauntlet if we're not quick enough. I would hate for him to bite someone else. As the only option would be p.t.s Just hope he's got a "hormonal" prob, but my gut is telling me something else is underlining with him. I'm just trying to figure out why he's so lovely when it's just family, but when tradies or couriers come he goes ballistic.
  5. I'm getting them through my email but it won't let me read them. Try pm ing me again, will keep checking my pm's if no reply tonight will Check in morning, Thanks for advice
  6. Thanks guys, yes we're taking him to vet to rule out any hormonal or bad stuff, we're also trying to get doggie yard built so they can go out side whilst tradies are here. Our fencer is due to come this week, I can tell you can't be done quick enough. They had a lovely doggie run at last property, they will have one here soon. He's never attacked his sister, but has gone me after I say NO I'm not afraid of him, have had a dog with brain tumour & she to went me plus our other dogs, she was p.t.s I'm praying this is just a age thing or hormonal imbalance. He's not old under two. He's such a lovely boy when only family around, it's when people arrive he goes off. A bit like jekl & Hyde with him at presant. Hoping vets have answers.
  7. Hi cosmolo was going to pm you but it said you weren't taking more new messages. This promblem is new he's always been a happy dog who loved everyone. But now he hates strangers. We have just moved to a bigger property, but problem was before move. As we're renovating we have tradies come in/ out all the time We have to put him in a room. As he has gone for a tradie as we weren't quick enough to get hold of him. He does try to nip or bite us if we sit with him. Im at a lose to why this behaviour has started, As hes never been mistreated probably spoilt. But all our dogs are, which he gets on really well with. We're going to take him to vet to rule out hormone probs But if all is ok then we need answers as to why he's changed. As for location could you pm me. Thanks Clydesdalelover
  8. Hi hope someone can help, We have two dashies ( dashounds) girl & boy both desexed, both went through puppy class. Got them as puppies. Socialized very well. Until now. Our boy has turned into a monster, when strangers come to door he charges at door, if they come into house he tries to attack them, he has snapped at a stranger. But we try to keep him locked in bedroom if know people are coming, not sure why he has to do this now, am worried if he does bite someone he will have to be p.t.s. The female loves people & hasn't tried anything like her brother. We have noticed if someone comes to door & you pick him up he tries to bite your face, no contact made. Please any advice, But please no harsh comments, we love these dogs. He was neutered at a very young age.
  9. As topic says when do you clip a puppy, she's nearly 1 yr old she's a shitzu cross poodle, with this hot weather was wondering if should get her clipped. She is mainly indoors on hot days in the cool, have a/c on. But when do I start taking her to poochie. Would like to start her early getting toe nails done ( which she hates to be done) She's good to bath. Any advise from people with dogs with hairy dogs / poodle people please. She does get brushed regularly.
  10. Hi all hope someone can give advice, have made app with vet, this morning I noticed my puppy has unusual poo. It's like jelly or a slimmy looking consistency. She's still happy, playful pup. But hasn't eaten all of her Brekkie. Any advice.
  11. Yes put hand up. You should check out trading post in Vic the pet shops fill it, why does these businesses have to fill up the net with dogs with outrageous prices, I'd be more than happy to see the dog rescue groups get more exposure than a damn pet shop.
  12. Dear Molly you came into my life at 2 yrs old, not wanted or loved. You were so scared on the way home you were sick in car but we didn't care We got you home gave you a bath, that was a experience for both of us, But after lots of love you came out of your shell, and turned into my number 1 mate You loved going round the farm on our walks. You played ever so gently with bug ( young child ) You never tried to runaway, many times we panicked only to find you laying on veranda. You were the one that sat by me when tears rolled down my face as I had a bad day You were there the day I came home from hospital after nearly dying, I told you I had a brain bleed And I felt you give me a sloppy kiss. You were there everyday on my bed when I woke up in the morning. And there on those bad days of why me, We had many yrs together Then I was told you were sick, I thought it was something little but it wasn't to be The vet called it grand mal seizures, I was with you every time you had a seizure. Sitting with you on the floor comforting you. Then one day you had one & you looked at me with those eyes, I cradled you in my arms as you went off to sleep. Molly you have left me with a broken heart No other dog will replace you, I wish we could have had many more yrs together. But it wasn't to be, I now cry alone no mate to be there, No mate to give me that sloppy kiss to say its ok mum R.i.p My dear friend & mate Forever in my heart
  13. Hi yarracully, thanks for reply yes I'm intending only to go to reg'd tentie breeders, but please excuse lack of abbreviations but what does PLL & chg stand for I'm aware of luxating patela. I've looked on dogzonline breeders but none come up in the area I'm looking will try to look up yellow pages in that area. Thanks for reply,
  14. Hi I'm just wanting to know if there is any tenterfield terrier breeders in the following areas or surrounding area's Albury/ wodonga, wangaratta, I'm moving up this way and would love to get a puppy or mature dog only for pet only so either sex is ok, Thanks
  15. Thank god, one pet shop down many more to follow fingers crossed, we may now stop byb's & puppy mills.
  16. Have you thought about another dashie. We got two both pups. They run riot for 10 min sleep then off again. One thing we learnt toys & lots of them. They love to chew. If you can getting a buddy would help. As while your at work young dasha, would have a playmate. Good luck, love dashies.
  17. Hi all, it's very early days, thankyou those who had nice advice, I'm pleased that I took others advise, as the vet I had kind of brushed it off. I'm now understanding just how serious things are. Yes the vet has told me she maybe zombied a little but she's on a low dose. So we can ajust it. We've been booked in for a brain scan, I've been investigating grand mals. I was able to ask vet questions, and I know feel a lot informed. Plus it helped to know vets dog has same prob, so I didn't feel stupid. Trying to describe what she was doing. Once again thanks to those that advised me to get second opinion. Being a vet I thought they were doing the right thing. How wrong was I. Thanks again.
  18. Hi crisovar, my dog does not need a new owner, before you criticize me, let me tell you, I have gone in debt for my animals, they are my number 1 priority, I did take her to a vet, obviously not the right one, I have since found another vet, whom has explained what grand maul seizures are & what happens, which other vet didn't, we are on meds now. The other vet suggested to pts but I didn't feel it was time. Another thing I love this bloody dog, I rescued her as a pup, taught her how to walk on a lead, & not all humans are going to beat her. Another thing this dog has gotten me through some very dark times in my life. Eg, try having a subnaracnoid bleed & stroke, and see how you feel, it was my dog who laid with me when I got out of hospital after 3 months, it was she who put a smile on my face, when I'd cry all the time, knowing my life would never be as it was. It was my dog who I only remembered out of all our animals. Now it me who sits on the floor with her when she has the seizures, it's now me who cleans up after her, it's me who will have to make the decision to let her go, it will be me who digs her grave. It's me who will miss her terribly. It's me who posted on this forum for advice, it's me who took the advise, Now tell me if she needs a new owner.
  19. Hi all have posted this in general dog. Didn't see this area. My dogs story. I got miss m as a scared little dog, never been on a lead, let alone had a lot of love from humans. She is now a great little dog who has a few issues, one being separation anxiety, can't be left alone for a long period. Then last year she had this seizure, we took her to vet & talked of what she did. Two days later she had another. This time We filmed her, showed it to vet who immediately said grand maul seizure, now vet did want to run numerous tests, But it wasn't our normal vet, when we got to show our vet we use, he agreed with diagnosis, but thought doing tests would only Upset miss m, and she isn't a young dog, we thought change in feed might help, as at time was being fed dry dog food, best brand one. So we went all natural, meat, veggies, we thought it helped as we went from 3-5 a week to 1-2 a week. But recently we've gone to beginning. When she has them her whole body is stiff, she can't stand, her eyes bulge, and no one is home ( unaware of surroundings) they can last up to 5 min. Or as little as a couple of sec's. Would like to hear from others who's dogs have g.m's After these seizures she sleeps a lot. All day & night. I have to get her up to toilet, Look forward to hear from you.
  20. Hi Aussie, my mate, when she has these grand mauls, her whole body goes stiff as a board, and is unable to stand. She falls down, her eyes become big. And she doesn't know someone is there, the lights aren't on. She's not a young dog, no she's not on meds, as the vets told us she'd be like zombied out. She does sleep a lot, both during the day & night. She was being fed dog dry food but we changed her to all fresh meat food. This we thought helped as her seizures went from 3- 5 a day to 1-2 a day, but now were back to 3-5. Just not sure what to do.
  21. Hi all just wanted to know if other forum members dogs suffer these. My tenterfield terrier has them quit frequently. Minutes apart sometimes. Would like to hear from other owners.
  22. Now I'm not against people having large breed dogs, what **** is when they move in from town to rural. And think they can let their dogs roam. Onto other people's property. This has now been twice weve had these dogs visit. I warned the owners I would take action. Today I rang our local council & low and behold these dogs are known to them. So I told the council I will shoot them if they attack my stock Ponies. I have also rang our local police. And guess what the dogs are known to them. I'm now installing a elec fence in our fence line. In hope a little zap may deter them. If not I will do what is necessary. As it seems to many dog attacks at present both on human & animal See cyberhorse forum. I wish townies moving to rural would learn dogs have same rules as town dogs. Farmers here shoot first when it comes to stray dogs.
