Clem (boxer) if that dog could have talked he'd have had a hillybilly accent.

Sam (Rotti) Such A Madam became Sam

Sami (staffy x) kids refused to believe a female dog could have another name other than Sam.

Diva (SBT) current dog, Sandra sent her up here with the name and it fits she's a little precious when it comes to puddles and getting her feet wet.

Radar (wolfhound x) current pup, the kids have a cartoon they watch with a rescue dog named Radar

  2. we feed RAW as the main diet but also have ...

4x2s bought a box of them 200 odd biscuits one a day and it was under 40 dollars from a local livestock barn they work out cheap and last forever. my girl loves them I've given some away for friends to try with their dogs, not one dog refused it, labradoodle, collie, staffords, cattle dogs. are all on 4x2s for breakfast now. :)

  3. 1354803265[/url]' post='6044389']

RAW by way of Barf patties, chicken carcasses whatever vegies are on offer as leftovers after dinner and now and then a lamb shank.

Why = she does best on it. her coat is so much nicer on a raw diet than a dry and the mystery contact allergy has lessened greatly since the total shift over.

I've switched my girl over to RAW 4 weeks ago and I'm seeing a huge improvement too, her skin allergies are lessening, her coat whre shes damaged it from itching and biting is coming back and she has so much more energy.

I do homemade RAW she gets 150g patty morning and night ( may have to increase to 200g next time I make them), she gets flax seed oil, vitamins E and zinc plus pro biotic. Looking at VANS skin and coat supplement once my current stock runs out. She can also now tolerate lamb which she couldn't when on kibble, so she gets lamb flaps and chicken frames as a treat if she's done a lot that day.

She was on pro plan and tried black hawk which is where her problems started.

Haven't tried the VANS skin and coat but was thinking of giving it a go.

Weird thing is I was feeding her identical food as her breeder was (she's only been with us since july 27th) so maybe it's the heat/humidity up here that makes it worse for her so an allergy she didn't have previously, comes out and plays havoc with her poor belly and sides.

  5. Samisam I love Ralphs outfit.

Oh boy I wish I could sew...my dogs are probably glad I can't

    :)

thank you! they make me laugh (the outfits and yeah ok the dogs too).

super easy to make if you can sew a straight line you could make them. I told Diva it was only fair I dress her up as a dorky elf because I have to pick up her poo.

  6. No stoning here. I own four and love them to bits!! Mine are cocker x poo. Ralph looks like a character!

He's a truly gorgeous boy total goofball thinks he's a lap dog but he's a lovely soft soul. the kids can do anything with him. There's one of your x's at training lovely lil guy also a goofball :)

  7. Did you choose this breeder because they seemed nice, and knowledgable, and the dogs looked ok?

Did you ever consider taking them through the small claims court to get your money back when the dog had health issues?

    Sorry, just curious :)

Post edited because I reaised that the op had answered my original question in her original post. I am a :dunce:

Yes to the first, they were friendly free with information happy to answer all my questions etc. Their dogs were beautiful both in condition and temperment. And important for us was that the pups be raised inside the house with frequent visits with children. All the boxes were ticked or so it seemed.

Small claims? no when I couldn't contact them I wrote them off and concentrated on our pup and doing what we could for her. When we let her go it wasn't an easy decision to make and heartbreaking for all of us. the last thing I wanted then was to chase up her breeders I had enough problems dealing with the fallout of a much loved pet not being here, from our then 3 year old kids.

  8. Yes, but did you ring Dogs Queensland and ask if these people were current members. Did you ask to see their current membership card ?. Did you go to dog shows and speak to other breeders to ascertain that these people were regular breeders ?.

No I didn't ring to check up on them. I didn't go to shows either. In fact I still haven't been to a show and yet I have a new for us dog. I didn't check up on her breeder either but by then I'd found this forum and spent time reading. I didn't ask other breeders about Diva's breeder I was given her name by another non breeding member here and took it from there.

My point in bothering to post anything here was to point out that Joe Public doesn't go to the lengths as suggested above we do enough to feel comfortable. Some of us get burnt but I've seen people burnt with papered pedigreed dogs too.

This forum is full of all manner of people not just breeders and maybe education is needed in the wider world offline but I don't see prejudice against breeders from anyone within my circle even after our experiences.

sorry more I wanted to say but kids calling.......

ETA non breeding member, I'd left a word out.

  9. So sorry to hear this, what the reg papers didn't arrive? Did you view both patents rego papers? Reg to me dosnt neccasaryly mean a healthy dog but if they promised papers that's wrong big time.

thank you, yes I saw the parents papers or papers I believed to be for the parents it wasn't until she'd been here awhile that we started thinking, she wasn't purebred (vet confirmed this down the track) but by then she was our dog and we loved her regardless.

No nothing arrived when I tried to check with the breeder in case they sort of got"lost in the mail" they didn't respond to calls / texts / emails. even drove there once but no one answered the door.

  10. So was this person registed with the state canine?

I was told yes they had membership with dogsQLD.

It's very easy to once you find these forums to sit back and say, oh well didn't check this or that or should have known from XYZ.

But most of us Jo Publics that want healthy pets don't visit this forum or ones like it. because we don't know that we should research the "breeder" to the same extent as the dog.
