  1. We have 9 rough collie puppies (5females/4males) born on 17.09.2016 I'm so happy! Sire is our Multi Ch. OBELIX Actis [HD-A, MDR1 +/-] Dam: Ch. SAGA Actis [HD-A, MDR1 +/? DM N/N, PRA +/+, CEA normal eye +/-] Some photos 11 days old. 2 dark sable males: 2 "gold" sable males: 2of3 tricolour females 1of2 dark sable females I'm the only one who have puppies in September??
  2. I have the same opinion as showdog First of all you need to know that female is fertile (otherwise frozen semen will be wasted). And you need to know that normal mating and pregnancy is possible. If the bitch can't have puppies in the normal way should be removed from breeding program. I noticed that in Australia AI with frozen semen is very popular. I understand it is an island and not easy to find good stud dog but... why not travel with a bitch on the plane for mating overseas? especially when it is a small breed. I'm living in europe and I travel with my bitches in car sometimes even 1-2 days (one way) to do natural mating.
  3. I'm back after a long absence on this forum :-) I thought that although we live overseas I should report that we expect Roungh Collie puppies at the end of September.

  16. Congratulations to all! I see that my report is last :-) So... On 24/25.05 our DONII born 3 big, dark sable male puppies (379g ,405g, 427g). Unfortunately, we lost by accident one puppy :-( I suppose the female-mother stepped on him (when he was hidden in a blanket). Puppies with mother were alone in the house only 30 min. During this time a few "homeless" dogs made a big fuss. I suppose mother was alarmed and running in the house. But I have only monitoring outside my house, so I don't know what happened inside. It is a pity, poor litle puppy [*] She birth only 3 puppies, I'm a little disappointed. Mating was perfect, but maybe a little too late? The stud had a long break between last mating, maybe semen was not so fresh? I heard that semen from the second mating (within a few days) is better, because it is a freshly produced. Anyway puppybirth was perfect at the time -exactly 2 months (mating was in night 24/25.03) Pic - 1 of 2 puppies, (2or3 days old on photo)I will make more pictures when I back to home (next week). Our HOSSA on 26.05 brigh 5 sable puppies (3males/2females), her pregnancy was longer than I expected. Photos with puppies few days old from left 2 males, from the right side female: male: male: female:
  17. We are expecting rough collie puppies (sable and dark sable), 2 litters in mid-May. 1st litter: sire:JCh.PL., Ch.PL., Ch.BG, Ch.AZ, Ch.CY, Ch.MD, Ch.MK, Ch.MNE, Ch.Balkan, Ch.Mediteranean. GOLDEN LIPPY vom Rhododendronwaldchen (HD-A, DMR1 +/-, DM N/N) dam: HOSSA Actis (HD-A, MDR1 +/-, DM N/N) 2nd litter: sire: GOODYEAR vom Hellental (HD-B, MDR1 +/+, DM N/N) dam: Ch.PL. DONII ZLATA Dominance (HD-A, other tests planned) This will be first litter after GOODYEAR vom Hellental - "Rollo", mating was perfect - with the first jump :-) and dogs standing together a very long time 20-30 min, maybe longer. The second female was with the dog several times, so I don't know when exactly the puppies will be born. We will see! Good luck for all!
  18. Now I have some time to write. Our IDEA has 6 dark sable puppies (1male/5females) born 5th October. The first puppy was born on the armchair :-D All my dogs really like this armchair. Photo is not the best quality, because the light was dim. And now photographs with 5 days old puppies: New photos will be added to this album: We also have a second collie rough litter, which I not mentioned. On the first ultrasound vet said that there is only one puppy, on the second that probably 3-4 puppies. But our HOSSA gave birth 8 puppies (5females/3males)! :D Puppies 11 days old: More pictures from this litter:
  19. I cann't see specific information about this program e.g. how many generations can be used to calculate the inbreeding %? I'm looking for a good pedigree software can anyone recommend something?
  20. Hi all! We expect collie rough puppies in the first week of October (around 7th). This will be the first litter after our Multi.Ch. IDEA Actispoland FCI, and father is Camaro ROCK'N'ROLL. Both parents are HD-A, MDR1+/-, DM N/N, CEA/PRA/KAT-free. All puppies will be probably dark sable, all Degenerative Myelopathy free (by parentage).
  21. I think that the X-ray for female in pregnancy is completely unnecessary! You can only count the number of pups (even not always),you can check also their spines. But USG provides more information in the last stage of pregnancy for example: heartbeat. I don't understand breeders who need to know how many puppies is in litter 1 week before birth. Isn't it better to wait for the birth??? Probably the X radiation is not neutral for the organism. Why unnecessarily expose the puppies and the mother of (even minimal) radiation dose? And of course medication before X-ray is usually also necessary. I do X-ray study on hips (HD-test) but I have no choice. If I had the choice I would choose a different method.
  22. I have rough collies, most free and some carriers. But my vet says (actually 3 vets have a similar opinion) that collies are very sensitive race, and all are sensitive to the drugs from MDR1 list and other (outside the list). So when I come with a MDR1 DNA free dog he is treated as a affected :-) I don't know how looks the situation in your breed (Aussie), rough collies are quite strongly related (average inbreeding 13%) so they can be more sensitive. Anyway I read article and in laboratory tests, animals (probably mice, but I don't remember) were sensitive to varying degrees: affected (-/-) already reacted to the minimum dose, carriers (+/-) have a higher tolerance, free (+/+) have a high tolerance. But of course overdose will be dangerous for any dog. So I suppose that MDR1 carrier dog is more sensitive as free dog, but not so much as affected dog. Alternative medicines are available so it's better to use them. I hope my English is understandable.
