  1. I think it really depends on the park and the dog. My dog park is amazing, Ollie has been playing with the same group of dogs since he was 20weeks and he loves it! Every now and then there comes a new dog who hassles hIm a bit too much for my liking (Ollie is submissive 99%of the time) but mostly we have a great balance. I find the more we went the more Ollie learnt which dogs he could play rougher with etc. We also have big bbqs for Christmas and Easter and have lots of giveaway toys and gifts from the local pet stores. It becomes very much a social outing on a Friday afternoon too! The only issue I find is when people carry their dogs into the park. It's just setting their dog up to be completely swamped.
  2. Thanks everyone! This is really helpful. I'll give them a call tomorrow- I'm not sure that they fly dogs in/out of Gladstone as we only get tiny planes so I might have to find a bigger airport lol!
  3. Hi Everyone, So I have finally booked in a session with K9 Pro (I'm beside myself with excitement) the question I have is about actually getting there! I've never put Ollie on a plane before (my 2yr BC) and we have to get from Gladstone (Central Queensland) to Kurrajong Heights, NSW. I've tried to get hold of the freight company associated with Qantas but I've had a heap of trouble actually getting through. What companies have people used to transport their dogs?? Thanks, Lauren
  4. Trying to get Ollie to tug is almost impossible! He has a really soft mouth and as soon as I place my hand on anything in his month he drops it. I've made a platted rope out of fleece and he seems to tug on that a little- I think it's the movement that he likes. Any other ideas?
  5. BC Crazy- It sounds like Ollie is at the same stage as Stella (I love that name btw) Thanks for all the information Buddy & Kavik - I've bought that book this morning. I'll let you know on our improvement!
  6. You're not hijacking at all! By all means ask away, I'm glad I'm not the only one :D I'm going to sus out the agility club here next week and I'm buying my book from Amazon- unless anyone can recommend somewhere in Aus I can find it?
  7. I'm not sure Ollie would know what a sheep is lol! I would love to try herding but. I will buy that book and thanks Kavik that would be wonderful. I'm so excited that I found this site : )
  8. Thanks everyone! I will have a look at the club up here and see how I go :) L.
  9. Hi guys, My name is Lauren and I have a 22mnth old BC, Ollie. He's the first dog I've owned on my own (I'm 22) and I'm feeling a little overwhelmed when it comes to dog sports/agility. He's a great family member and is well behaved with his basic commands and recall. I don't know much about dog sports but I think it's something that both Ol and I would enjoy. From what I've read I feel like I've missed the boat a little with teaching him the correct methods, I live in Gladstone (central Queensland) and I'm not sure about the clubs here. Can anyone give me any pointers or info? I've looked into the K9 Pro long distance programs but I'm not sure if that's the right thing I need. Thanks! Lauren
