  1. CavsRcute, your kindness overwhelms me.

Tissues are without blood stains when they soak up her urine so I mightve caught it early.

She is such a loving cav & has had a sad history, which has me hoping for a wonderful future for her.

I adopted her from the pound 6 years ago weighing just 6kg. She was emaciated.

There was dried food in her enclosure but she had been trained not to eat without a certain word.

That word didnt come with her. Friends donated Nutrigel & she lived on that for a week apart from what I gave her from my plate.

I used to fill my plate so there was enough for 2 & hand fed her.

Then one day I was slicing frozen chicken thigh & dropped a piece . Oh happy days it was when she ate that & has been eating it for the past 6 years.

She was 2yrs old according to her microchip but the phone number had been disconnected. O

The address given was rural nsw about 7 hours away from where the ranger had picked her up from a main suburban road.

I believe she lived with an old man & she loved him.

At first she would get very excited when she saw an old bloke with a white beard, but would appear sad for 2 or 3 days afterwards.

I have no idea how long she had been without a carer to have become so thin & at first , to be scared of the dark.

    She deserves a nice future.

    No problem.

My first girl I rescued from the RSPCA in Queensland.

She was A Blenheim and had been used as a breeding machine. When she got too old she was dumped. :mad

She didn't know what grass was all about and would only wee on the concrete and curled up with newspaper

She was 6 when I got her and I had great fun with her for the next 5 years.

They are the most wonderful dogs and can't wait until I can get another one.

Hope everything continues to go well.

  2. My Cavalier had 3 bouts of Uti's with blood in her urine and also struvite crystals and a very high PH level.

After she finished the antibiotics I put her on cranberry tablets and she didn't have any more problems in 6 years. And no stones, crystals and the PH went back to normal.

  3. Asquith Vet is fantastic! Avoid Greencross at Turramurra (formerly Kuringai Vet) at all costs, they're terrible since they changed hands.

GReencross is just down the road from and I would never go there. I travel to Hornsby.

:offtopic: I heard an interview on radio and the guy who owns the Petbarn company also has an interest in Greencross in Queensland.

  4. I use Animal Pharmacy for all my dog medications. They are fabulous.

Excellent service & save lots of $$$.

With both mine on life time meds finding an fast delivery, extremely economical online service has been a god send.

I have a great Vet that writes us out scripts. Some Vets aren't so obliging.

Then I just fax the script through to AP & they fill the script & post it.You must post the original script to them though. Just speeds things up by faxing it through. I save well 50% on the price I would be paying if I were to buy from our Vet. Highly recommend them.

My vet used to write a script for medications that I could get at the pharmacy. He had no issue doing this.

Glad to hear that they provide a good service. They are in the suburb where I live. Would have been handy when I had my girl

  5. Just wondering whether anyone has heard about the Animal Pharmacy.

I received a pamphlet on the mail box the other day, and even though I don't have a dog at the moment, I was interested.

It is located in Turramurra, NSW and there are 2 pharmacists, one who is married to a vet.

They say if you have a prescription you can get medications at reduced prices. For example they say that 50 tablets of Vetmedin is normally $76.90. And they sell it for $43.30.

I have absolutely nothing to do with this business but thought it could help someone.

  6. Weight is important but I would also get tonsils and palate checked.

My girl was a terrible snorer and had her tonsils out and was much better. Could be an elongated soft palate or upper airway obstruction. Another Cavalier I know used to have an inhaler for obstruction and this also helped.

How old is your dog? Sometimes as they get older they can have a collapsing trachea.

  7. It's 17 months since I lost Lovely Lani and I've had one of those days today.

I totally agree that Angus is a fabulous human being and a great vet.

He also sent me a lovely card and a photo that he had taken when Lani was having her acupuncture with some lovely words on the back.

Be kind to yourself. I can't say it gets easier but you learn to cope a bit better. They always stay in our heart.

  8. Hi all

I am looking to buy the Hip Hound Brace for my aging ESS bitch. Is anyone aware of a stockist is Australia please?

Also, I would love to hear from anyone who has used the brace.

    Thanks

    Liz

I know Helen Nicolson, the canine physio, either stocks or can get braces. Maybe somebody at ARH can order them as well. They do a lot of orthopaedics work there.
