  1. im very familiar with the DDA LAWS, having read them several times and taken shop owners to court over refusing access. the only requirement dda say the animal is trained to meet standards of hygiene and behaviour that are appropriate for an animal in a public place. because a dog dosnt pee on things in a shop dosnt pull on a lead pretty much means its capable of passing the public access test which is a pretty low standard I know service dogs who are unable to pass basic ccd level of obedience but are considered trained enough to be service dogs due to passing the public access test (which there is also no legal requirement to pass it just makes court easier). no where does dda list requirements of training. no where in the law does it say the dog must be identified by the form of visual identification (ie vest) verbal communication is perfectly satisfactory though the use of visual aids like a vest prevent some embarrassing encounters.
  2. verbal identification is enough since Australia doesn't have a standard and vests can be bought on the internet they are pretty useless. a doctors note saying the dog is required is enough. there is no standard a service dog has to be trained to, public access test isn't mandatory in any state (yet) but they cant ask you to demonstrate your service dog in action. a national standard system with id would be great.
  3. actually all people are allowed to ask is that a service dog and how does he assist you in your disability. it is illegal and demeaning to be asked to prove your service dog is a service dog, your private medical condition is between you and your doctor and the service dog is not a performing monkey, he doesn't do tricks he does an important medical job. I carry a letter from my doctor saying he is essential but doesn't reveal any medical info the public access test (we sit every year) and the disability laws.
  4. sorry damascaus is my current dog but due to age will be retiring soon church (a flat coat retriever) will be replacing him. damascaus was certified by aussie angles assistance dogs and mind dogs, should be denied access to a shop and press charges I can prove that damascaus is essential to my wellbeing. whilst there is no current service dog test or any form of id required (im in nsw) due to the number of fake dogs weve had problems getting access (in particular westfields Parramatta) aussie angels helped me press charges under the disability act .
  5. I have a service dog, I have a seizure disorder and he alerts me to when a seizure is coming. ive had several rude people coming up to me saying im not disabled and don't need an assistance dog. before damascaus I couldn't leave the house, now we can do everything atm we are training damascaus replacement church. damascaus is fully qualified and certified and church has just started but passed public access test.
  6. and where can I get a book of entry forms?
  7. thanks :) already a member of dogsnsw and hes registered already as weve been doing lots of showing however his bites moved and he cant be shown any more.
  8. hello all, wanting to enter into an obedience trial. is there a way to do it online ie ozentries? there is one in a month coming up near where I live entries close in a week and id like to enter. I don't have a cheque book so would prefer online entry! thanks
  9. is there a golden facebook page? ask there
  10. took forever. according the the breeder the stud dog owner refused to sign papers, according to stud dog owner he didn't recive payment for stud. ring dogsnsw and as I wasn't the dogs registered owner (most puppies are registered in breeders name than transferred across to new owner) and due to privacy laws I was unable to request any information. had to threaten legal action on both stud dog owner and breeder. if the dog isn't registered by a certain date than it cant become registered. (but then if the dog isn't registered than a registered breeder cant sell it as it violates ethics laws) it total huge sh#t fight. glad you got it worked out.
  11. thanks for that, neither have imported we will be going through a company. she is prepared to keep it that time for no cost, shes keeping most of the litter so one more wasn't any trouble. she asked what training id want, we both use clicker traning. the dog is being picked out by four judges and another local breeder. atm we are just trying to establish what we both want so its clear on both side. I will be flying over to meet the dog at six months. then im paying for the cost of the puppy. im paying all vet and importation fees.
  12. im importing a dog from Canada, we are working out what we each expect from the other. she is keeping the dog till its 9 months old then its flying in. my expectations are vet three months rabies and microchip 60 days to 1 year: rnant blood test by official vet 30 days prior to export: blood test four days: vet check take dog to airport on day of flight. teach dog sit, come, down, stay leash manners. socialise dog house trained. what else should I be able to reasonably expect?
  13. hahaha yes he likes to liberate things from the fridge lol! we tried to teach him the fetch me a drink party trick... smart cookie also learnt he can help himself!
  14. I must say this threads really annoyed me... telling me so far in advanced so I have so much time to shop sigh must have changed my shopping cart a hundred times!
  15. none, the only time my boys bark is when the old boys had enough of the young pup and its time to separate. I live in suburbia and a dog across the street never shuts up and weve been falsely accused a few times.

  20. Flat coated retriever :) imo best dogs ever
  21. Everyday lucky enough to have a small forrest nearby and several good off leash dog parks probably off lead more than on
  22. Never been bitten by any of my dogs. dogs never bitten or killed another animal. dogs however have given warning snaps to other dogs (mainley humping or puppy harassment) Saying the my old rottie killed a rabbit by sitting on it and squashing the poor creature does that count ?
  23. Im a flat coat retriever fan so I wont post pics of my babies lol. But $5000 wont even move you to America let alone your dog. Flights removals insurance rent food paperwork ect. Then there is your missus and the dog, id be very suprised if you did the move for under 10 grand. Unless you sold everything took one suitcase, but then there's the cost of buying everything over there... Dol is probably the one place where loving a breed is encouraged lol
  24. And research beyond the sydney morning herald when regurgitating such "facts"! actually I first read it in dogs life, than the Sydney morning herald and that's where a majority of their population obtain their 'factual' information from, you would have to expect them to be accurate on legal matters. I don't have time to research every aspect of every part of my life. I read it was illegal, know someone whom was fined plus it seems like common sense to restrain a dog in a moving vehicle.
