  1. my two both sleep in our bed and its never at the end of the bed...even with this HOT HOT HOT weather in perth they sleep right in the middle heads on the pillow!! both of them are aloud on the couch and have NEVER slept out side or not on our bed :D but i wouldnt have it any other way!! Its great to see that so many other people let there pups sleep on the bed too :)
  2. thanks :) i think i may have to get one started then!!!
  3. The breed standard is in the first post of this thread. Sizes: Weight: Dogs 13-17 kg (28-38 lbs) Bitches 11-15.4 kg (24-34 lbs) Desirable Height: 36-41 cms (14-16 ins) (these heights being related to the weights) However, just like people they can be bigger or smaller than "normal". Height is measured to the top of the shoulder (withers) Also, the weights in the standard are really intended for dogs in show condition, not pet condition. Honestly, as long as you can easily feel their ribs they are a perfectly good healthy weight. Some people deliberately breed for bigger dogs and this is wrong. If you have a look at the puppy pages here you come across adverts boasting that the sire weighs 25 kg and the dam is 23 kg. Either these dogs are seriously obese or just plain too big. Do you have ANKC registration papers for them? thank you Sandra...... that actually sounds like our dogs are in the perfect weight and height :) and yes both of them have their ANKC registration papers. :D
  4. Does any one know of any Fly Ball classes held in the Perth area?? I would really love to get my Staffordshire bull terrier into it :D she is an extreme ball hog and is definitly capable of running up and down those tracks! hehe We were looking at agility but i think Fly Ball would be much better!! Or does any one know of a good training school in Perth?? We are supposed to be starting obedience training tomorrow night but im not 100% sure in the training school?? The obedience training is mainly to work on our recall!! Thanks heaps in advance :p
  5. Hi Everyone Im new to the site, but slowly finding my way around and figuring things out. :D I do have a question tho, HOW MUCH SHOULD YOUR STAFFY WEIGH AND HOW TALL SHOULD IT BE????? I own a 4 year old Brindle Boy and 3 Year old Red girl i dont have their exact measurements or weight on me (at work, i will get them tonight)but i seem to see staffys that are MUCH BIGGER or chunkier than my two?? IS IT TO DO WITH WHAT YOU FEED THEM? Both of them go for a 45min to 1 hour walk every morning (if we dont there will be trouble when we get home) and they get another 45min to 1 hour in the afternoon! could it be they get too much exercise to get big?? We are always seeing bigger staffs with wider heads and what just seem to be chunkier all over!! Both of them are pure breads we purchased them from QLD and had them flown to us here in Perth. Health checks are all clear. Our Female still looks like a puppy!!!!!!! people are always asking how old is she when we say 3 they are in complete shock??? We did have one breeder ask us whilst doing the RSPCA Paws Walk if he could breed from her...aparently he said her size was perfect?? Should we expect our dogs to get chunkier or wider with age or is this it.!!! I do not wish for my two to be anything more than what they are now but we see so many big staffs i just dont get why ours seem so little??? Could it be maybe because we see them everyday?? i dont know ? lol Here is a pick of both of them :) i will get their measurements and weights tonight!
  6. Most definitely! :) He changed my life but most of all has given my two dogs a much better chance in life!
  7. First of all i want to express my deepest sympathy to the owners of the “little dog” Elfie <3 and my over whelming utter DISSCUST for the owner of the “large breed dog” Most of all i want to say, clearly no one will ever know what happened, these things happen so quick! plus alot and alot and ALOT of people do not understand their own dogs fully let alone understand the way dogs NATURALLY react/behave! I am not saying that the little dog acted aggressively towards the bigger dog and im also not saying the bigger dog just attacked unprovoked, we will never know i guess! but people do need to understand!! DOGS DONT TALK they rely on ENERGY!!! The energy that may have been projected from the smaller dog may not have been a calm energy it could have even been excited but to any dog and a dominant dog foremost be it a small or large dog an unstable dog that does not project calm energy is seen to be weak. In the natural world weak animals are killed they are not comforted and told to toughen up! It is horrible to think but it is the truth. We say it is un natural....but please try remember of were dogs originated from, they are hunters/killers if we like it or not, they have a natural drive that only by our human interference can it be redirected to do other things like search and rescue, sniffer dogs, police dogs and even guide dogs! All of these dogs have the same make up and are all still DOGS but there energy and natural instincts have been redirected to use for the good.! In regards to the bloke that walked away.......how about we all hate on him and not his dog!! I guarantee you all of this would have been avoided if the dog had a stable and confident owner someone that clearly respected ALL dogs, knew what they mean to a human as a companion, how they need to cared for and most of understanding the natural behaviour of dogs. I will never take my dogs to the dog beach for this exact reason! I do not have control over other peoples dogs and i think the beach is just a massive fight about to happen and in this case it did, a horrific one. I believe this is ALL THE OWNERS FAULT OF THE LARGE BREED DOG! I am not saying the dog is to be blamed and definitely not the poor defenceless Elfie. Humans need to realise you can take the dog out of the wild but you cant take the wild out of a dog EVER!!! Not matter what breed and no matter what size! I hope they find the owner that so heartlessly walked away from a dying dog knowing that HE was fully responsible! RIP Elfie and my wishes lie with the family that they find the guy!
