Hi Joanne, Full disclosure - I am the founder of PetHomeStay.com.au so a direct competitor to Pawshake. You need to know that Pawshake (a Dutch/ US company) offers no insurance or support whatsoever for either Host or Guest via their site. $10m Public Liability cover for pet sitters is the minimum legal requirement in Australia, so arguably they are acting illegally by exposing their Hosts to this. In addition to $10 liability cover PetHomeStay ( a full Australian owned and operated business) also offers $2500 Pet Accident & Emergency Insurance for all bookings transacted via our site, plus 24x7 support. Hi Rosiesmum, I am the founder of PetHomeStay and would be happy to answer any questions you might have. :) To partly answer your question, all the HomeStays on our site are independent. We have a mix of professional sitters, casual and student sitters, and some will come to your house and some only in their own house. So it's really up to you what you want in a service and to pick the right one - we are a free community service, and we don't vouch for any of the sitters at present, but we do ask that people protect themselves and follow our House Rules like requesting to see any insurance or police certificate if sitters say they have one.
